Looks like Shigure will be living through Surigao once more, this time without Winter 2018's happy ending.

That said, making her the MC this time is probably a good choice, considering her popularity and pretty tragic backstory. I just hope the storywriter doesn't get too melodramatic though.

On the studio, I googled a bit and found that it was established just last April by Kadokawa. Besides KDKW, the other major shareholders are Sammy and Ultra Super Pictures.

I believe that the reason Shigure and Yahagi are together is that their base may be in Sasebo. Shigure was known as Shigure of Sasebo. Yahagi is also linked to that place and enjoy Sasebo burgers.

In Sasebo you will apparently find plenty of places with KC collabs of Shigure, Yahagi and Suzutsuki.

Oh wow, as a big fan of both Suzutsuki and Yahagi, both of them will be in the second season. I really hope they have learned from past mistakes and will deliver a good series.

The movie pretty much closed Fubuki's character arc, and she filled her role as the wide-eyed newbish shipgirl. Switching the point of view to a character who is a veteran like Shigure is a good move. Who am I kidding? I am all giggling because one of my favorite destroyers have been promoted to MC, along with the representative of objectively one of the best designed light cruisers of the game, who also happen to be very good, character-wise.I bet you the anime-only audience, especially those who NEVER started the game, must be feeling pretty lost with those faces they barely know outside of hentai.

I am praying that the anime is good, it would be a formidable career boost for Yuki Yamada and Yumi Tanibe. Those both girls need it.

I mean, I'll watch it, but I definitely will continue to prefer the 4-koma because none of the shipgirls die and the encounters with Abyssals are always very amusing (long live Hoppo!).

Since part of this seems to be Leyte Gulf, I wonder if they'll throw in the three Taffy 3 ships they have in game so far for Yahagi and Yukikaze to interact with. As something happened after Shigure's bad night.

But then...this is also Zuikaku's last fight.

There wouldn't be a lot of the old cast left by this point (historically) of the war. And many of those that are left, sink at Leyte or soon afterwards.

The mentioned Zuikaku. Kongo and Haruna. Yamato. Nagato. Hibiki. Shimakaze. Mogami of course. Suzuya and Kumano. Ashigara, Haguro, Nachi, Chitose, Chiyoda, Tone, Chikuma, Takao, Chōkai, and maybe Atago. Tama and Kitakami (but without Oi, so the 'daily lesbian' role would require someone else to fulfill....Yamashiro can do it.). Ōyodo and Mamiya.

Well...and Aoba.
