Some moments in Volume 2, courtesy of Natsu:
(Thanks, Raile, for the images. Will be using them for this post).After Michael urges Alto to join Sheryl's band, Alto and Sheryl have a heart-to-heart conversation. Not sure what they're talking about, but this is apparently a "moment" for them. Ranka, who accidentally saw them, recognizes this. (Edit: It's a tsuntsun moment, this pairing just kills me with its cute.) Fast forward, a bomb, disguised as food, detonated in the hotel Sheryl was staying at (Brera is after Sheryl's life.) In Alto's foyer, Sheryl was shaken up and refused to eat anything, even when Alto offered her a dorayaki. Alto realized that, and took a bite out of the dorayaki to assure Sheryl that it was okay, even though he wasn't aware of the bomb incident. Sheryl understood then that Alto was worried about her, and smiles. Then Alto got her to walk to his garden, and gives her a flower. He then goes tsun, saying it's a form of gratitude since she helped him drive the Vajra away from the academy before. Alto then tells her the meaning of the flower (loosely translated as "Free heart") - later on, when Sheryl is out of earshot, Grace explains that it has another meaning : ("Silent love").  Grace and Alto had a conversation before the concert started - Grace told him that Sheryl is changing, personality-wise, for the better, all thanks to Alto. Alto, in response, says "I wonder if that's so" and smiled. Ranka apparently saw the whole exchange, and is pretty down. She angsts about the feelings between Alto and Sheryl, and, after the shooting incident, runs off with Brera.  (I find it amusing that this running away scene is practically present in almost all Macross Frontier mediums. It serves absolutely no point than to kick up the drama, but like every shoujo fan, I lapped it up anyway.) And raile explained the rest from this point. There's a lot of heavy Alto x Sheryl moments not mentioned in the summary, but this is just the basic gist of it. Last edited by cheesie; 2011-03-04 at 08:25. |

As in cue of the shoujo-esque moment, the guitar string snapped, and bruises Sheryl's hand. So thank you" *blush*), and Alto just responded with smile that is prettier than Sheryl's imvho. Since Sheryl's so embarrassed by the exchange, she immediately change the subject to her earrings. Yes, so tsundere. <3 ... And reading vol 2 Grace, I JUST can't believe this is the TV Grace. She is so kind even to the point of defending Sheryl that she isn't a failed test subject when Sheryl accidentally eavesdropped on her.

whelp, I had fun spending hours translating those 3 pages (for a brush up + for giggles + to rid myself of boredom)
She actually sings Tenshi ni Narichatta (btw) and thinks about how she felt empty, but relief came in the form of a rival (Ranka) and she was excited (wakuwaku!) and learned about the joy of living from Alto (implied by her saying anata and showing Alto)...ect. Managed to get the raws of vol 1 and 2, so I'll brush up more by reading through those. *mini rant* And that stupid "so/そ" *first line of 2nd page* was the bane of my existence until I learned its apparently an alternate version/way to write it... Just type it ”そんなとき”! RAWR! */end mini rant* |
