Aya Endou will be doing the voice of Akko. Someone in /u/ also mentioned that Mikoi Sasaki (the one who did Hecule in Milky Holmes) will doing Mari. The drama CD will cost 2000 yen and will be released around January of next year:

Has she said why? "For the lulz" would be an epic reason, but not a very satisfying one

Also, belated thanks for the update on the drama CD - last I'd heard it was starting to sound like vapourware, so a cast and approximate release date are great news.

According to Morinaga's blog the CD will be on sale at the Comic High! booth at Winter Comiket, but she's not sure about general retail. Also, she has a cold and seems a bit depressed about the future of yuri manga under Tokyo's revised youth development law

Ohhh, drama CD!!! Has there ever been a moment where a high number of CD sales led to getting an anime series? Granted that bill worries me about even the possibility.

Hmm, Lucky Star maybe? Problem is you never know whether the anime would have happened anyway. Comic High! has had a number of stories assume anime form, so even if they weren't huge money-spinners they can't have been complete disasters either - unless Futabasha simply don't learn from their mistakes.

(Speaking of Comic High!, I'm gutted that I won't be at Comiket to visit their booth. At C77 they were giving away these bags (NSFW) - people were quite happily walking around with them at Big Sight, though I have to say I stuffed mine into a more respectable bag from Ichijinsha before getting on the train...)

Anyway maybe I'm just blinded by fanboy wuv, but I don't see how a GF anime could be anything but a commercial success: it's the perfect combo of cute, sexy, funny and sweet, the cast and staff would have a ball bringing the characters to life, and being cynical you could say it's girly and romantic without being lesbian enough to scare off the wider male audience

Btw this blog post had the most comprehensive CD cast list I've seen yet - has anyone seen confirmation of this?

Tamatsukuri is my best guess reading of 玉造, since that's how the kanji are read as a place name. Unless I've forgotten someone from earlier in the story, maybe he's the new homeroom teacher they get in third year?

Amagasa-san seems pleasantly surprised that a woman is directing the CD - Shimazawa does sound like an experienced director, so I think we're in safe hands there.

Seriously guys, there has to be a way to convince one of the U.S. manga companies to license this. Like some sort of campaign that shows that we are willing to buy and support the title.

I was a big fan of Milk's short story. But all about Girl Friends completely slipped my mind because it was bimonthly in the beginning.
I didn't think at all there is a Milk's thread in this forum.


And I read all 5 volumes last week at once.


...Definitely, Morinaga Milk is goddess of yuri and Girl Friends is the bible of yuri.
Of course I pushed "buy" button of CD drama already.

Are you sure it's Girl Friends and not Kuchibiru Tameiki Sakurairo?

EDIT: I checked the Comic High entry on Amazon and indeed Nana and Hitomi from Kuchibiru appear in the cover. This is NOT Girl Friends, even if it looks like it:
