The Castle of the Carpathians by Jules Verne -- Verne's only 'gothic' novel. A very entertaining read, set in Transylvania, complete with mystery, romance, and adventure. A lot of exotic words were used in the translation; I had to look up dozens.

A biography of Milton Hershey, and this really cool book, "The Dead Travel Fast", about the history of Vampires.

The Clipper of the Clouds by Jules Verne -- Also known as 'Robur the Conqueror.' It was sort of like '20,000 leagues in the air.'

Trudging through Elizabeth Bowen's The Last September. Reading this book is like talking a long walk and making many stops, but not entirely hating what I see along the way.

Finished The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamed. I saw the last chapter coming a mile away, but I still found it pretty damn scary. I wonder why the guy didn't just leg it ages ago...

[edit]

Also finished Ilan Pappe's A History of Modern Palestine.

I just finished A Dance With Dragons way behind everyone else. Well I guess that is what happens when you have to wait for a book from the library.

Next up is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy to prepare for the new movie. But I have to wait to get that from the library too.

I read this for the first time this year as well. It was a great read and I wish I could take a class on this book just to discuss elements that I am sure I missed.
