My point is- I guess I'm more narrow minded that I thought, but this young adult to child pairing doesn't sit well with me.
well it is only a 7 yr difference, imagine saki 77 and wateru 70.

Cardcaptors and age differences? What about Rika Sasaki and Yoshiyuki Terada? Go and search them up. It will amuse you.

Toddler Hayate and Athena intensely locking lips is more disturbing than Wataru and Saki's age gap.

Yes. Yes, it was very disturbing.

I can't say it bothered me, but then I saw the whole thing as innocent and I get baffled by people who read that story and are all "true wuv forever!"

I'm also greatly annoyed with toy shipping in general. I don't care if the main characters met when they were two! It doesn't mean anything!

...Nope, still makes me awkward

What can I say? It was ten years ago, my memory is fuzzy

But my point is, these wide age gaps don't sit well for me.

Not for me, I'm a fan of puppy love romance. Not a fan of wide age gaps... Unless they're immortal, then comparing age is pointless... As long as one of them isn't trap in child form...

Hmmm, swap the gender of the guy and the girl, then everyone will cheer for it. Léon: The Professional was pretty good, right?

I know several real life couples with such large age gaps (both male older and female older) and they're almost all going fantastically well, so it doesn't bother me a bit. The fact that Saki sees a 13 year old boy as an object of romantic affection though...cradle-robbing anyone? But they're not going to get together for at least another 5 years, so it's all good.

I love the Athena x Hayate couple, but the kissing at six years old? Yeah, that bothered me.

Kids kissing is fine. Kids kissing deep mouth to mouth while also living together alone is going far.

Nope, still the same thing for me- the issue isn't their gender

Like I've said, I guess I'm not as open minded as people...

I don't remember any deep mouth to mouth kissing though. Don't make this any worse than it already is.

Huh anyone read Brave New World? The kissing thing is just a reflection of the society. That or A-Tan being lonely.

Or oversexualized. Hayate I can understand 'cos he lived in a one-bedroom apartment with his parents, but where did A-tan get all those ideas from?

I think it was just meant to look cute an innocent, considering both of them were around 6 years old. That, and A-tan was lonely.

Yeah, but what kind of mentality leads to: "Hey, I'm a lonely six-year old. I think I'll kiss a boy."?

"I like him, and kissing is a sign of affection" mentality? I don't think it's a good idea to read too much into it. I mean, if you see a small child parading around naked, he's not an exhibitionist or embracing the nudist movement. He's just being a child.

Before she kissed him, wasn't the boy able to help the lonely girl smiled again after she had been trapped and alone for who knows how long? Although you may say that the kissing was to make Hayate stay with her, but there's no doubt that she had developed some feelings for him. So, she kissed because she was lonely wasn't really true.

Listen to this man, for he is enlightened.
