me likey pretty young moms....

everything in episode 2 is made of cuteness...

Tho... I do feel pity for Souta meeting his first love for like years later... only to see her married with kids, lol

Makes it extra painful since he doesn't seem to have any other Girlfriend after that, at least it doesn't look like it.

Also, I have this strange feeling if there was a time skip at the end of this series... the poor little girl, Nozomi, is going to be super disappointed when she find out Poco... is a animal (unless Nozomi is one of those weird furry lovers....)

I have to admit, Souta's friend is quite amusing. A bit rough on the outside but he seems to be a decent guy overall. Funny how they caught an octopus after all that amusing arguing.

It's also interesting to see a bit of what Souta wanted during his past.

Ep 03

Another lovely episode.

I must admit, though, that my heart felt pain at the interaction between the young Souta and his father. Those sorts of general conversations take place between children and parents plenty often, but somehow the way it is being presented here, in the context of Souta re-assessing some of the things he had taken for granted at the time and beginning to appreciate it now was ... quite sad.

It's so often like that with many things, too - sometimes those around us can actually see some things going on inside of us more clearly than we can (especially if we are "in the middle" of something) and no matter how clear and straight the path of the arrow is it is not obvious to the person firing the shot. They have to come to a place where they can see it themselves. This really comes across in the exchange between the two of them while they were fishing for me. Very effectively done.

Oh yes ... Nakaji may be a skilled doctor and all, but his bedside manner needs a little polishing, perhaps.

Am continuing to adore this series. ^^

Episode 3

Nakajima was a fun guy. "There's no patient at death's doorstep" lol. That's not what a doctor should be saying lol. But then again, it's a pretty valid reason to take things a bit lightly lol. I liked how he was swinging Poco around when he touched his car or whatever and then said that he would have swung him around if he had known Poco was a boy. How much would he have swung the kid around?

Thanks to Poco, Souta is coming to like his hometown again and is confused whether to sell the house and restaurant and go back to Tokyo or not. He is starting to remember all the good memories of his childhood and school days with being with Poco. And now I think that woman is Souta's sister who is now here and is seeing two grown men sleeping together with a kid.

That Gaogao thing was funny. A giant sunglasses wearing octopus shows out of nowhere and is about to use its slimy tentacles for something questionable lol. And the lighthouse fires an earth destroying cannon which is flicked away like it was nothing. And Gaogao is starting to like earth more.

good episode.
between this and lion on saturdays, i feel like i'm a high level anime watcher lol.

Hope we get to the Udon soon.

Souta sure is doing a good job of handling a kid as a single parent compared to a certain Dad in a food show last season.

Nakajima is such a sadistic doctor. But he looks like a good guy and friend.

Poco is super adorable!

I hope we get to see that suits girl from ep1 again. For some reason, I like her with Souta than any other girl.

An odd position for the MC to be sure. He's remembering some of the good stuff, but also some of the bad. In the end his relationship with his father around the time he left wasn't great. He did have something he was interested in enough to pursue it and it's not like his father gave glowing support to him. Basically expected him to take over the restaurant just because.

Nothing wrong with him deciding to take over now once he's had time to think on it. It is his life and he can figure out what to do with it. Right now he's just really back and forth. Which I can understand since it isn't like he spent his life making Udon. It'd be basically picking up an entirely different career after spending years on his web design work. Plus...he may not be particularly good at it.

Well I'm not surprised he's doing a bit better. Considering Souta doesn't have the baggage of a lost spouse or technically even a job. The only loss he's really dealing with is a father he was basically estranged from anyways. Not exactly weighed down by grief.

I don't being estranged from a parent when they pass away makes the grief any less. If anything, just the opposite.

Finally watched Episode 1.

Looks like this show also has a main character suffering from family-related problems as well, kinda like the internal struggle of Rei in Sangatsu no Lion. In Souta's case, he found himself longing for his deceased mother's love, as well as finding himself in a long-unresolved problem with his dad, who also died without being able to pass over the udon business. (Souta was also involved in an accident which injured his right calf.) The tanuki kid is gonna be his perfect solace, I'm sure. I mean, look at the guy. He's made out of fluff and cute!

By the way, you know the depopulation problem in Japan is so bad that houses (or even whole neighborhoods) can be emptied out by migration or simply people dying without more lives replacing it.

Episode 4:

Oh I'm starting to like Rinko even more now. She's got that big sister feel and helped Poco overcome his fear of height on that bridge.

Great chemistry between the three main characters. Such a charming show. I hope Rinko gets more spotlight like this episode. In the meantime, she's also a tough girl to not mess with!

Episode 4

Man, this is quite the show. I like Rinko and how she teases Nakajima. Lol she was thinking that Poco is Nakajima's kid with some unknown woman.

Rinko isn't good with kids and she's not good with Poco who is afraid of getting. They go to the tanuki filled shrine and they talk about their childhood days a bit there. And Souta remembers stuff by seeing Poco. Lol Poco runs off to a bridge and starts jumping on it. I was almost screaming "stop jumping you're brat!" Lol Souta is afraid of heights and Rinko picks Poco up and crosses the bridge leaving poor Souta all alone to die.

Souta should really tell at least Rinko about Poco. She'll find out sooner or later so it's better to tell before. Plus, Rinko might understand so it'll help him put even mirror. He's probably afraid of the off chance that Rinko rejects this idea and tells Souta to leave Pico. But I think he can try especially now since Rinko is starting to take a liking to Poco too. It'll really help him I think.

Ep 04

The reminiscing (and in so many ways) between brother and sister with Poco as the catalyst was simply wonderful. ^^

This series is so GOOD!

Poco is making his mark on Souta, but Rinko may have been seriously affected there too.

This show is so emotionally accurate it's not even funny. For me, still the best series of the season.

The bit about how it's sad losing the house you grew up in resonated hard with me. I spent most of last year getting insanely stressed out about selling my Dad's house, where I grew up. That is a very sad thing to have to do and the show captured that well.
