And we're back in the courtroom! Episode 1 is up.

Somehow, it felt like the show never left at all. Immediately, I got the feeling of Ace Attorney with a case taking place already from the episode. It did not take long for Ryuuichi to undertake the case and uses his knowledge to piece the clues together.

His opponent in court looked like a fool lol. Nothing but truth~

The theme songs are okay (I personally still like the first season's better)

The animation is a little better. There's fewer of those awkward shots attempting to mimic the game. Naruhodo even walks around the courtroom a bit this time, that would have broken the budget in season 1. Of course this is just the first episode of the season, but hopefully they can keep up this quality.

The sound is a bit improved as well as the music stays consistent, but the sound director still managed to throw in an obnoxious cartoon noise for some reason. At least it was only for a few seconds.

I really want to watch this show with non-localized subs with actual Japanese names and dying messages. I understand why they totally localize the subs but does it hurt to include another option?

Also the Japanese version of the game has different setting and contexts from the localized version and I hope people can get a chance to understand that at least by the anime (which is actually better expressed with the original Japanese setting than whatever the localized subs made up), considering that there will be no hope for a more directly translated version of the original games to be released.

I just hope this won't end with the case following Game 3s last... I can't help but imagine Trucy being even more annoying in the anime than she is in the game.

Check the subtitle settings. Crunchyroll has two English subtitle channels for this exact reason. One has the localized names and the other has the romanized JP ones.

To be honest, I've never played the game and only seen videos of it, but it was fun seeing the game animations like the new coffee and coffee on top of Naruhodo being animated.

I just realized that they have cut the Magatama again.
It's somewhat working right now but sooner or later it will come to bite them in the back, especially if they plan on animating the latest game. Then again there is also the problem of the Bonus case...

Anyway leaving the Magatama out makes some things like Phoenix asking whether someone is the killer look weird.

Yeah, can be a Game mechanic but sometimes the lost of the Magatama feels real, at least for Game players.

Probably because it involves a character we're going to see again soon, so I wouldn't expect this to mean they're going to adapt Rise from the Ashes yet. The animation is a little better. I hope they don't lump the tree cases together near the end. Btw, how episodes is this season? I think this is the longest game of the ones in DS? and with the addition of this Case I don't think even 12 episodes are enough now. Oh, but maybe we can have the 5th Case of the first game with Emma animated it would be fine and Apollo Justice for a hypothetical 3rd season.
