Hinting at an Episode 8?

Spoiler for 8th portrait:
completely black.
Looks like the only thing you can see is a moon being reflected in water.

Edit: It also looks like the leg of a girl with a long sock. Maybe it will be a young girl sitting on the shoulder of a man?

Edit again: Looks like it could also be a small face, like someone in the background?

*sigh* yeah it is too dark... But it isn't completely black there is that 'whatever' it sort of looks like an old fashioned lantern. (at least to me)

I for some reason I can't upload pictures..

Random Crackpot Theory #2352: "Our" Battler never actually did come to the family conference in 1986. Beatrice refused to say the murders wouldn't have happened if he didn't return because he never did! So who did come? I dunno, wild guessing:
  • The Other Battler.
  • Ange.
  • Jessica was the Other Battler, and red text trickery akin to Erika-Doesn't-Exist is employed.
  • No one came; the episodes just detail what could have happened if he were there.
So there you have it. Battler doesn't exist (or at least wasn't there). He realizes this at the end of ep5 (which is why he embraces his role as a sorcerer) and Beatrice realizes it in ep6. How this helps her I don't know. Don't think about it too hard.

Because it doesn't make any sense.

Can't say I can agree with that. Remember Ange? I can't remember if it was her who said it or someone else, but she was to become the last Endless Witch. And after her, we haven't had another Endless Witch. We've had an Endless Sorceror, but no witch. So the only way Red Girl can be an Endless Witch is if she's actually male... which isn't the first time it's been mentioned.

So Jessica solves the epitaph and becomes the Endless witch JESSICA? Just like in EP3. Not too strange since they other chiru episodes have similar twilights.

It'd be a nice troll for the Jessitrice theorists too.

I've been wondering about this. But if the two in the portrait are Dine and Beatrice, shouldn't one of them have a more different expression. They don't look like enemies at all in the portrait, in fact it almost look like 'the browned hair guy' is her bodyguard or something the way he is standing.

Enemies? The original Beatrice persona and Dine?
No way, She is supposed to be a mystery novel freak.

The last Endless Witch because Ange wouldn't give away her title and there was a good chance she would kill herself before naming a successor, unlike Eva. That's why Bern called her the last witch in my opinion.

Besides, Bern is the one who told Ange that. I think we should take anything she says with a grain of salt.

Well she doesn't necessarily have to be Jessica (because I personally don't like that theory myself) but she can be a new character.

Ok, let's try listing all the feasible on-island *-trices:
  • Krauss -- Not disqualified, though after Ep5 is generally believed to be far too inept for the part.
  • Natsuhi -- Disqualified by Ep5.
  • Jessica -- Not at all disqualified, but let's presume she is to test your conjecture.
  • Eva -- Disqualified by Ep3.
  • Hideyoshi -- Not disqualified and actually knows more than he by all accounts should.
  • George -- Not disqualified, though these past few months he is frequently regarded as a culprit distinct from Beatrice, who isn't out to kill anybody.
  • Rudolf -- I did say he's the craftiest guy of the lot.
  • Kyrie -- Still a strong, but peripheral candidate, nobody can quite figure her out.
  • Battler -- Disqualified by definition.
  • Rosa -- Disqualified from being Beatrice by Ep2. Probably is involved anyway.
  • Maria -- Disqualified by Ep4 as the Witch of Origins.
  • Genji -- Not disqualified... and not really a character.
  • Kumasawa -- I should say disqualified by being Virgilia in Ep3 onwards.
  • Gohda -- Not disqualified and generally not believed to amount to much
  • Shannon -- Is currently the most popular Beatrice candidate anyway, which would be too easy.
  • Kanon -- A stronger candidate with the appearance of that Ep7 ambiguous character.
  • Nanjo -- ...Not disqualified, but... no, no comment.

That leaves us with Krauss, Hideyoshi, George, Rudolf, Kyrie, Genji, Gohda, Shannon, Kanon, Nanjo. So which is the original Beatrice that Jessica wrestles the staff from?

The lady in red from the EP7 portrait may have some connection with Rosa...judging just by her clothing style. Not every woman would wear that kind of suit, anyways.

Yea, I hate to say the person in red is a man but those pants and boots do not look like something a lady would wear.

If it is Rosa or something about Rosa, then the guy must be either one of her lovers or her husband. And that would mean that Rosa is an important piece to the puzzle. Or like I said, ep7 might be all about pinning everything on someone who isn't really invovled.

actually, i'd say 'it's' dressing style is rather adrogynous. so it may be of any gender.

Er why does the fact that we have a female looking character wearing mens clothes automatically mean its a trap?

I can only think of a woman wearing something like that for riding a horse. But what do I know? I don't live in a wealthy Japanese family or in the time of 1986.

That's not what I meant. It is just troubling that the person in red looks like a woman but wears, what appears to me to be, male clothing.
Jessica acts and dresses like a male a little bit, so I don't mean to say that person is a trap but... *shrugs*
