Okay, for arguments sake, lets assume that her flipping out and becoming someone else actually is any indication of Illya's skill. Then obviously she would have known how to do it already.

No, it's an indication that Ilya is just as innately talented as you seem to make Miyu out to be.

If you get to call Miyu a genius despite all of her mistakes like getting shot down by Caster and needing to be rescued by Ilya and being equally as useless as Ilya before Rin, Luvia, and an unsealed Ilya jumped in, then I can view Ilya as just as special despite her mistakes.

Miyu is so brave to fight alone! Then it is later shown she did it for Ilya. Miyu is true friend.

Also noticed she can turn into Saber while still being conscious.. Ilya did not remember when she turned to Archer.
