Those energy steroids are a total cheat in a battle.
Neptune sure pulled a nice ace out his sleeve, but his age didn't help..
The only thing that turned things around for Hody was that drug.
Luffy had it all relaxed.
Sanji was a surprise with his recovery & lack of overreaction to Shirahoshi.
Guess he's back to his old self.
Nami & Jinbei... I sense problems with that considering what he did.

This thread has become really quiet, even though there is so much that there can be discussed about. Also, since there apparently won't be any new episodes this week, it is going to be extra long before the next episode discussion.

Funimation_Article

I'm kind of curious what Robin with find. I am sure we won't know until the end of the arc, but then that would leave Robin out of all the action. I would love to see the Straw Hats together and attacking at full force, although that could destroy Fishman Island.

Also, I wonder how far Luffy's Emperor's Haki can reach? Can he knock out everyone on the island? Also, can he sense certain people within a certain radius?

Dekken is one sick bastard. He wanted to marry a little girl who looked no older than 8 years old. At least that was the approximate age she looks like when he apparently put his mark on her.

Apparently, next episode will be about Jimbei telling his story. It will probably bring up some painful memories, but I still fully expect Nami to forgive him in the end. However, I wonder if his story will be relevant compared to the main story arc?

I'm still a bit upset at Usopp not doing anything at the end. He was a commentator, and that was it. The fishmen came and he scaredly raised his hands. He didn't help Zoro, and he was much help to Brook either. I'm pretty sure if Brook was not as incapacitated, he would have done a ton more than Usopp.

And yes, why did the soldier mention something happening to Queen Otohime, when apparently, she passed away ten years ago? Which then begs the question, how did Queen Otohime die? Did she give up her life and is in some spirit form right now supporting the island in some way?

Anyone know why there will be no ep this week?

Isn't Robin looking for the Poneglyph so i'm guessing that's what she'll find, unless there isn't one there.

Isn't the easiest way to stop Decken from following Shirahoshi is to unmark his hand by having him touch something else or make him touch something else?

It is the one year anniversary of last year's Tsunami devastation. News coverage, shows, and special events commemorating it will be shown this week; hence, a few shows have been postponed if they are showing up at prime times.

How many Poneglyph did they estimate to be around the world? I thought there were a lot, but so far, Robin has only found 2, right? One is Alabasta and the other in Skypeia, if I recalled correctly.

There are 2 things storywise I look forward to this arc. 1) The revelation of the Poneglyph, and 2) who the new nakama will be.

I think the easiest way to stop Decken is to have Zoro chop off his arms. Otherwise, they can make him touch his butt and permanently cement his hands in order for him to not touch anything else.

Oh wow its already been a year, totally slipped my mind.

Yea i think she only found 2, unless she found another one in the 2 year time skip. I don't remember if they stated how many in total there were.

Yea Zoro could do that, but first he needs some oxygen then they have to break out of the palace. So its confirmed there will be a new nakama? I thought that was all speculation.

No, it is not confirmed, just speculation. It is just the longest speculation of a Nakama that I can remember. It is just right now, none of the introduced characters strike me the right way, except for Shirahoshi. The others just don't seem to fit. As for Shirahoshi, the only way I could feasibly think that she would join is if she can transform to a more "normal" size and gain an ability to walk on land.

If I recalled correctly, the Straw Hats just needs to add 1 or 2 more members to reach the number Luffy set at the beginning of One Piece.

Iirc Luffy said he wanted 10 right? Shirahoshi would be too funny though. Sanji couldn't get any work done. Also it doesn't seem like she has any strength except being huge. I've wanted Jimebi to join, but i doubt he will he'll have to look after the island after the Straw Hats beat up Hordy and Decken

So they were making people step on an image of the Queen since she worked to get the fish-men to get along with the humans. The rest of the ep just opened up old wounds while remembering Nami's past. Nothing fazes Luffy while he's drinking tea though.

Robin found the poneglyph! I can't wait until they explain what it has to say, although I doubt it will explain anything about the missing 100 years. I don't expect the answer to that until much, much later. If anything, I hope it explains how the nobels are really not that nobel. I bet they were originally pirates or crooks in some way.

As for Nami's story, yeah, it made me shed some tears, but they had way too much flashbacks. So Jimbei was not the captain of the Sun Pirates. I guess he took over when Fisher Tiger died?

There was not much this episode besides the fact that Queen Otohime and Fisher Tiger wanted peaceful relations between humans and Fishmen. However, if Queen Otohime died 10 years ago, when did Arlong leave to do his conquest? I guess considering how old Nami looks, it might have been around the same time. I bet Arlong respects Queen Otohime, but turned towards hatred after Fisher Tiger's death. It might have been a revenge trip for Arlong's crew.

After 2 weeks of eagerly waiting for a new episode we get one where not much happens. But then again I started watching One Piece 3 months ago and caught up to episode 533 in about a month, so I'm used to having a constant supply of episodes at the ready. I've been watching Naruto since then, and while Shippuden is alright it just can't compare to One Piece.
With that being said, I'm really eager to hear more about Fisher Tiger and Queen Otohime. I'm also really interested in how Jinbe will interact with Hordy and Vander Decken, coz i assume he can easily kick their asses. This also raises the question of why Hordy would attack the island when he knows Jinbe is around.
Anyway I hope we see more of Robin and Brook soon. Apart from finding the poneglyph they haven't really done anything major in a while.

I don't really like this Fishman Island Arc and I can't wait for them to move on.
The whole fishmen vs humans thing has become kinda strained.
I felt sorry for Nami having to face with her own tragic past again.
Well, at least we got to her the short version of what lead to all this.

Their queen Otohime sure was a tsundere ^^"
Guess the only thing she failed at was the whole getting-closer-with-humans thing.
It was interesting to watch Jinbei's past.
That Arlong was always bad news..

I think Otohime was closer to a yandere than tsundere.

So far, this episode and backstory was not too exciting. It repeated a lot of what we already know from previous mentions, except it was animated instead of told this time. The only new information was that Jimbei was in the army, and Otohime was a fragile yandere.

I hope the next episode picks up more. I really hope they don't drag it like they did the Marineford Arc. Also, I hope they don't continually show Nami's stoic face every episode. It would be like showing Robin crying over and over again in the Water 7 arc, which loses its effects.

I don't know. I like these exposition episodes a bit more than slow fighting (i.e. Marineford).

I realized something in the recap - Zoro's been drowning for ~4 weeks! Someone better help him quick!

OK, I know, in "reality", Zoro would be safe before Nami even got to the forest, but its for suspense and pacing.

LOL @ Otohime.

Yes, she's more Yandere than Tsundere.

She's the type to hit people than get sad over it....

BTW... how exactly was Otohime able to give birth to Shirohime?
Otohime is like so tiny... and Shirohime is like 10x larger, LOL.

Or did Otohime lay an egg and Naptune spray over it? (still don't get how a normal fish egg would turn out to be that large, LOL...)

She's not really Yandere. A yandere has an unhealthy obsession with a love interest that depending on the degree could border on psychotic.

She's just...weird. I don't believe she falls into either stereotype...

Wow, really, poor little girl. I couldn't hold back my tears for her. A slave at 8 years or younger already, and to be put through all that fear just to survive. Oda really likes to torture little kids to tug at our emotions.

I'm expecting Kizaru to come in and create havoc with the Sun Pirates. I'm not expecting anyone to be able to beat his logia ability.

So it looks like Shirahoshi is 15 years old, if the events in the episode happened 15 years ago. That makes the child predator Vander Decken after Shirahoshi when she was only 5 years old. That guy needs to go. The sooner, the better. Although, I bet he could be great friends with Akainu.

Fishman pirates sure wiped the floor with those marines.
So this episode was still about re-telling what happened in the past.
Arlong sure is a cruel bastard.
That girl sure was pitiful... it was sad watching her.
Guess those pirates have a heart after all.
Nice episode.
