The way you say "the way he's been behaving with Goto through the series" seems to suggest guys can't be friends with another guys, which is a typical fangirlish delusion. There was nothing more than friendship and male bonding between them, so at this point doing this would be a terrible asspull, as Triple R put. And Moe has been in love with Mari from day one, it's the basis of her character. There's just no way to compare. You even say Goto turning gay for Masayoshi wouldn't be sensationalist. Jesus! Really? That would be bad on many levels. |

Leave for two days, returns & sees that the conversation turned into a sexuality debate. Guys, its the FINALE this week, there will be no homo confessions this late in the game. There was no buildup for it & no foreshadowing.
As crazy (Actually, he's using his denial to stay sane, but still, that's crazy in the first place) as Goto is, he's clearly still heterosexual. If there is a confession of any sort, it'd be strictly platonic. Masa's a strange one, but he doesn't have or is implied to have that kind of interest. the only thing he has that we know of is a superhero *cough* fetish *cough* fixation...lol

Somewhat apropos of this discussion, I was looking at merchandise for Samurai Flamenco. In the dakimakara department, we have only this entry with Masa and Goto:
The MMM girls can adorn your wall, but not apparently share your bed. That place is reserved for the guys.

As for Goto: who said I expect Goto to turn gay? My idea is “What if Masa realizes that he’s gay for Goto?” and that’s it. Nowhere in my post I mentioned Goto need or have to return Masa’s feeling or turn gay. Quote:
All in all, let's just chill out, mate. Your reply sounds a little angry at me and you seem to be offended by my half-joking .

Foreshadowing: Can't remember what episode, and possibly even before it all went strange, but Mari called it when she said to Goto "You're in love with Samuenco!"
Usually once a month I have friends round for an anime night. We drink beer, I give them cake i made earlier in the day, we watch anime. I once showed the first episode. At the point when Masayoshi asks Goto back to his place, one of my friends said "oh, smooth!" So even with one episode she'd seen the interest here. Certainly, at this point I'd not be entirely surprised if Goto was using his dead girlfriend as a beard all along. Really, that would be fine. |

That's the problem, you bring up a female friend.
As i said, shipping guys who are just friends, even when there's absolutely nothing there, is a typical fujoshi reaction. It kind of annoys me because, as a guy, i know how strong male friendship and bonding can be. Those girls apparently don't get that, or don't want to. Not to mention, your friend maybe didn't realize that Goto is a freaking cop, he spent the whole series helping people in need. There was no "interest" whatsoever (that would make him a terrible cop, actually). |

And yet plenty of straight guys have no problem shipping a guy and a girl when all they are friends. How many people wanted Sumi and Masayoshi to get together when before two episodes ago all Sumi had shown was concern for Masayoshi's well being. If a woman shows concern or closeness for/with a man clearly she must have the hots for him, and they can totally make a couple. If a man does the samething with another man, it's all no homo dude, no homo. Talk about your double standards.

Well, like you said, "before two episodes" ago. I wouldn't want a Sumi/Hazama relationship to arise just about out of nowhere, in the very last episode, either. Thankfully, this latest arc (especially the latest episode) has had some developments that would make such a relationship ending not a pure plot twist.

Personally, I don't want Masayoshi to end up with anyone. As he himself pointed out, Sumi acts very much like an older sister, and the relationship with Gotou is nice as it is. If something does happen either way so be it, but as it was mentioned earlier I'd much rather Masayoshi realize he loves everyone, the end, roll credits.
