Nanoha wins!

And yes they will progress differntly. The more of Nanoha you see the more of her line will be revealed. The more of Fate you pick, the more her line will show.

Nanoha is a little softer and shyer, whereas FAte is aggressive and not holding back. Whichever you like seeing more, pick that person.

The only differnce would be, like this upcoming one, you will see inside Nanoha's mind, but you have no idea what Fate is thinking. Example after this:

Spoiler for Vampire!ate pt.7:

It was weird, dancing against someone I just met. People were all around me and music was thumping in my chest with each beat. I didn't really worry about 'knowing the moves' to the songs because everyone just seemed to be doing little more than bouncing with the beat. Fate, not surprisingly, drew lots of attention to us by her actions. Despite being in an outrageously gothic frilly dress so didn't seem hindered at all. Her hands were always on me, hips grinding and leading at the same time.

I didn't know if I should feel embarrassed or not because it was such a... provocative motion. Everyone else was doing the same so I could accept it as just 'dancing' but at the same time I wish she would give me a little space.

When we danced enough to make my legs weak I gave her a small questing look and was lead off the dance floor without any protest. Our seats at the bar were taken now so Fate lead me over to a semi-circle booth and sat down next to me. Her arm went over my shoulders and I leaned away lightly.

"Oh, sorry," Fate moved away from me and I sighed out thankfully. "Did I frighten you?"

"... Just a little." I shyly looked down and licked my lips. I was starting to lean toward the fact of Fate asking me on a 'date' as a date, and not a get together like I assumed... "Um, Fate-chan?"

"Yes?" She was comfortable it seemed, leaned back with both arms over the back of the booth. She smiled at me and I noticed again that her K-9 teeth were... just barely noticably longer than normal.

"Why did you ask me to come with you tonight?"

"To get to know you."

"Why?"

"Because you are cute."

"...Okaaaay," I rolled my eyes and leaned back as well. "Um... Are you...you know?"

"I know?"

I blushed. "You know," I said again, getting a chuckle.

"Are you afraid of my answer?" I didn't know how to respond so she went on. "Then don't ask me what you don't want to know."

"That's no fair." I pouted.

Fate leaned forward and our eyes met. Her facial expression changed from daring and teasing to a softer shade that made me settle down some. "Are you having fun? Honestly?"

"...Yes." I sipped the glass of water than was just sat down in front of me. "Thank you."

"Welcome." She drank as well and crossed her legs. "I sometimes come off as aggressive, please don't be afraid of me okay?"

"...Okay," I felt even more at ease and started seeing her as a possible friend. True, a weird one, but she was obviously trying to please me and that meant a lot. "Fate-chan, tell me about yourself?"

She beamed at me. "What do you want to know?"

"What are your hobbies? Besides part time jobs?"

"Anything really. I like to read a lot, I've studied martial arts-"

"Really!?" I knew I interrupted her and sank back.

"Interested?"

"Yes," I smiled happily. "I heard it's really good exercise."

Fate tapped a piece of ice into her water and watched it float back up to the top. "It helps me stay fit." Her eyebrow arched slightly. "Want me to teach you somethings?"

"I-I'd be too embarrassed..."

"No one will have to see." She nodded. "When you are comfortable, I can come to your place? Will that be okay?"

My place... Sure, nothing could happen there. It would help pass the time too since I can't study too hard while watching the register. "Okay, sounds fun."

"A second date already," She teased me happily. "I think I'm doing good?"

"Well," I corrected her. "you're doing well."

"Oh great, an English snob." WE both laughed at her joke and I honestly felt really comfortable with this weird girl now.

I would even say I was looking forward to seeing her again after tongiht.

Spoiler for differnt POVs:

When dancing, you got to see Nanoha's thoughts, how she saw everyone doing it, how she got used to it, and how she was a little uncomfortable with Fate being so close.

If it was Fate's POV, it would be more of Fate observing Nanoha, learning how she moved, and a more 'sensual' approach as she denied herself a taste of her blood. Also she would have noticed another dancer whose movements were too good to be a human...

But since it was Nanoha's POV, we missed that part >: D

Since this scene is quite plot oriented I thought I'd make a few notes on the plot points that are important for anyone who hasn't seen The Phantom of the Opera . I'm not putting much work into this in case Eva or someone else actually wants to write the beginning of the story. Also I apologize for this not perfectly matching what Eva wrote in the first part >,<.

-Zafira and Chrono have been assigned to manage the TSAB's annual three month long run of an Opera.
-Hayate, who typically stars in the productions, had a bit of an accident right before opening night so Nanoha, who normally did small parts, took over for the night.
-Attending the show that night (as well as having attended the rehearsal) was Yuuno Scrya, Nanoha's childhood friend. Yuuno, a good friend of Chrono and Zafira, is helping sponsor the event. Yuuno goes to see Nanoha after the performance. She's happy to see him but rejects his invitation to go out.
-Then we get Eva's awesome scenes

-It's now the next day and Nanoha is no where to be seen...

Zafira straightened his tie. This was a truly bothersome issue. He held tight to his walking cane as he steered himself through Mid’s busy streets. He marched up the steps to the bureau’s opera house. His opera house! Even if they were just renting it for three months as they always did it was still his! Not some silly little ghost’s. As he walked into the building he couldn’t take it anymore.

“Mystery after gala night!” He handed his hat to a worker standing by. “It says mystery of soprano's flight!” Another man helped him remove his heavy blue coat. “Mystified all the papers say,” Zafira smacked his paper into the chest of a third surprised looking worker. “We are mystified, we suspect foul play.”

Zafira marched up the stairs trying to keep calm and not show his anger to his underlings, “Bad news on soprano's scene,” He rubbed his forehead. “First Hayate now Nanoha.” He sighed, there was a bright side; “Still, at least, the seats get sold.

“Gossip's worth its weight in gold.”

He nodded to a few lingering officers, “What a way to run a bureau. Spare me these unending trials.” Once a year! They did this once a year! And never before Ms. Takamachi came along had they ever had a problem! “Half your cast disappears but the crowd still cheers,” and cheer they had. “Opera! To hell with Gluck and Handel. Have a scandal and you're sure to have a hit!” They were sold out for three weeks straight and the TSAB’s opera only ever ran for three months.

As he started down a hall his partner cut him off.

“Damnable!” Chrono stormed up to him. “Will they all walk out? This is damnable!”

Zafira tried to calm down his friend though he was in no mood to help. “Chrono please don't shout!” He placed a hand on Chrono’s shoulder. “It's publicity! And the take is vast. Free publicity!” And the Bureau needed all it could get.

“But we have no cast!” Chrono spat out. He was turning red.

“Chrono, have you seen the queue?” It was out the door everyday.

Chrono pulled out a small envelope.

“Ah, it seems you've got one too.”

He opened it up and started to read it as they walked down the hall. “Dear Chrono, What a charming gala, Nanoha was, in a word, sublime. We were hardly bereft when Hayate left. On that note, the diva's a disaster, must you cast her when she's seasons past her prime!?!”

Zafira pulled out his own, “Dear Zafira, Just a brief reminder. My salary has not been paid. Send it care of the ghost by return of post. P.T.O No one likes a debtor so it's better if my orders are obeyed!” He crumpled up the letter.

They looked at each other and spoke in sequence, “Who would have the gall to send this? Someone with a puerile brain.”

“These are both signed O.G.” Zafira shook his head.

Chrono threatened to pop a blood vessel, “Who the hell is he?”

It hit them at the same time, “Opera Ghost!”

“It's nothing short of shocking.”

“He is mocking our position!” Chrono threw his hands into the air.

“In addition he wants money!” Surely this fellow didn’t need it.

“What a funny apparition!” Considering they didn’t have much.

They spoke at once again, “To expect a large retainer. Nothing plainer, he is clearly quite insane!”

“Where is she?”

They turned to the bottom of the stairs where young Yuuno was standing holding a letter as well.

Zafira raised an eyebrow, “You mean Hayate?”

“I mean miss Takamachi. Where is she?” He begun to march up the steps.

Zafira shook his head and crossed his arms, “Well how should we know?”

“I want an answer! I take it that you sent me this note!”

Zafira and Chrono started to walk back the way they came.

“What's all this nonsense?” As if they didn’t have enough on their minds.

“Of course not!” Zafira had not sent any notes.

“Don't look at us!” Chrono waved his own note.

“She's not with you then?” Yuuno’s expression grew confused.

“Of course not!” Chrono yelled down. Why would she be?

“We're in the dark!” Zafira followed up with.

“Admirals don’t argue.” Yuuno held up a hand and the note. “Isn't this the letter you wrote?”

The three met on the central steps. Zafira eyed him, “And what is it that we're meant to have wrote?” He hit his head with his hand, bad grammar. “Written!”

Chrono snatched the letter from Yuuno’s hands, “Do not fear for Miss Takamachi, The angel of music has her under his wing. Make no attempt to see her again.” Well this was a troublesome letter.

Yuuno looked concerned, “If you didn't write it, then who did?”

Zafira opened his mouth to reply but—

“Where is he?”

The three men turned to see Hayate Yagami and her entourage storming through the doors towards them.

Zafira held his hand up in greeting, “Ah, welcome back!”

“Your precious patron. Where is he?” Hayate demanded.

Yuuno sighed, “What is it now?”

“I have your letter,” She too had a letter, a letter she waved it in Yuuno’s face. “A letter which I rather resent.”

“And did you send it?” Zafira knew he hadn’t but to keep Hayate happy…

“Of course not!” Yuuno looked shocked.

“As if he would!” Chrono looked indignant.

“You didn't send it?” Hayate still looked suspicious.

“Of course not!” Yuuno had just said that.

Zafira was confused. “What's going on?”

“You dare to tell me that this is not the letter you sent?” Hayate thumped the letter with her hand and shoved it in Yunno’s.

“And what is it that I'm meant to have sent?” He flipped the letter open and began to read. “Your days at the Bureau Opera are numbered Nanoha Takamachi...”

“Nanoha! Nanoha Takamachi!” Hayate threw her hands into the air.

Yuuno ignored her, “...will be singing on your behalf tonight. Be prepared for a great misfortune should you attempt to take her place.” He looked to be deep in thought.

Chrono and Zafira looked at each other and nodded, “Far too many notes for my taste” they both took Hayate’s arms and started to lead her up the stairs. “And most of them about Nanoha! All we've heard since we came is Miss Takamachi's name--!”

“Miss Takamachi has returned.”

All of the group turned to see Alicia at the bottom of the steps with the young Miss Arf behind her.

Zafira furrowed his brow. “I hope no worse for wear as far as we're concerned.”

“Where precisely is she now?” Chrono humphed.

“I thought it best she was alone,” Alicia didn’t seem intimidated at all by the high ranking officers in front of her.

“She needed rest,” Arf added in from behind.

Yuuno stepped forward, “May I see her?”

“No, Monsieur,” Alicia shook her head, “She will see no one.”

“Will she sing, will she sing?” Hayate stepped forward her loyal green haired companion beside her.

“Here, I have a note,” Alicia ignored the diva and held the note out.

“Let me see it!” Hayate, Yuuno and Chrono all dove for it.

“Please,” Zafira took the note. He cleared his throat. “Gentlemen, I have now sent you several notes of the most amiable nature detailing how my theatre is to be run.
You have not...”


“…followed my instructions. I shall give you one last chance,” The Phantom scratched out the words on paper. She would not let that morning’s incident deter her plans.

“Nanoha Takamachi has returned to you and I am anxious her career should progress. In the new production of Il Muto,” It was quite simple, all they had to do was follow her instructions. “You will therefore cast Hayate as the pageboy and put Miss Takamachi in the role of Countess.” Why couldn’t they follow orders properly? “The role which Miss Takamachi plays calls for charm and appeal, the role of the pageboy is silent, which makes my casting, in a word, ideal.”

The phantom poured hot wax over the envelope. It formed the shape of a small triangle, her symbol. “I shall watch the performance from my normal seat in box five, which will be kept empty for me. Should these commands be ignored a disaster beyond your imagination will occur.

“I remain, gentlemen, your obedient servant,” The letter was tucked into her breast pocket. “O.G.”

“Nanoha!” Hayate shouted.

Chrono rolled his eyes, “Whatever next?”

“It's all a plot to help Nanoha!”

Zafira threw his hands up, “This is insane...”

“I know who sent this,” Hayate spun around and pointed at Yuuno, “This boy--her lover!” She begun to march off.

“Indeed?” Yuuno watched her with wary eyes. “Can you believe this?”

“Miss Hayate!” Chrono followed after her.

“O traditori!”

“This is a joke!” Zafira growled up at the ceiling.

“This changes nothing!” Chrono sped up to keep up with the speed demon.

“O menititori!”

“What does that mean!” Chrono yelled.

“Miss Hayate,” Zafira was desperate.

“You are our star!” Chrono was getting close to hair pulling.

“And always will be!” Zafira tried to calm the raging ace.

“Miss Hayate,” Somehow she had managed to march them all the way to her temporary quarters where her entourage started to take away her things.

“This man is mad!” Chrono held up his note.

“We don’t take orders!” Zafira crushed it.

“Miss Takamachi will be playing the pageboy” Zafira assured her, “the silent role...”

At the same time Chrono and Zafira nodded, “Hayate will be taking the lead.”

Hayate shook her head and lead them out of the room again. She lead them through the opera house and to the back of the stage. “It's useless trying to appease me!

Chrono motioned stabbing her in the back.

“Signori, e vero?”

“She speaks Italian?”Chrono’s mouth hung wide.

Zafira shrugged.

“Non, non, non voglio udire! Lasciatemi morire!”

“What does that mean?” Chrono looked to Zafira but he didn’t know either. They both had no choice but to follow her all the way through the back of the stage.

“O padre mio! Dio!”

Alicia shook her head, somewhere along the line she had caught up to them. “Who scorn his word, beware to those...”

“You have reviled me!”

“The angel sees, the angel knows...”

“You have rebuked me!”

“Miss Hayate, pardon us.”

“You have replaced me!”

“Please, Miss Hayate. We beseech you...”

“This hour shall see your darkest fears”

Yuuno and Arf joined them as they rounded into the opening hall again. “I must see her...”

“Abbandonata! Deseredata! O, sventurata!”

“What’s with the Italian?”

“The angel sees, the angel hears...”

“Where did she go?”

“Abbandonata! Disgraziata!”

“Hayate, sing for us! Don’t be a martyr...”

“What new surprises lie in store...?”

“Our star!”

“Non vo' cantar!”

Hayate threw open the doors, only to be mobbed by a mass of fans.

“Miss Yagami! They called out, except for one blue haired girl who pushed to the front.

She held out a rose and Hayate took it, “Please deliver this to miss Takamachi.” Then she ran away like the devil was chasing her.

Hayate retreated slamming the doors shut. “Deliver! Me!”

Zafira and Chrono traded panicked glances.

“Your public needs you,” Chrono took her arm.

“We need you too,” Zafira took the other.

Hayate stuck her nose up. “Would you not rather have your precious little ingenue?”

“What’s an ingénue?” Chrono looked to Zafira who merely shrugged as usual.

“My question still stands.”

“Hayate.” Actually Nanoha had been much easier to work with. “No. The world wants you.”

They guided Hayate away from the now dissipating group and towards her dressing room.

“Prima donna, first lady of the stage!” The two men serenaded her, desperate to keep her happy. “Your devotees are on their knees to implore you!”

Chrono snatched a flower from a nearby bouquet and held it out, “Can you bow out when they're shouting your name?”

“Think of how they all adore you.” Zafira led her to a chair.

“Prima donna, enchant us once again,” Chrono and Zafira both grabbed chocolate boxes from a table and offered them to rejecting hands.

“Think of your muse...” Chrono threw his box behind himself.

“And of the queues round the theatre!” Zafira placed his neatly back on the table.

“Can you deny us the triumph in store?” Chrono and Zafira felt they were winning her over. Zafira grabbed a blue puppy and Chrono a diamond necklace.

Hayate seemed to be coming around.

“Sing, prima donna, once more!”

“Christine spoke of an angel...” Yuuno stood in a dark tunnel. If he couldn’t see Nanoha then he’d find out just who this “O.G” was.

“Prima donna, your song shall live again!” Hayate stood up, her ego thoroughly padded.

“Think of your public,” Zafira and Chrono grinned to one another. They were back on!

“You took a snub, but there's a public who needs you!” Hayate was full of it once again.

Alicia watched sadly from the doorway. “She has heard the voice of the angel of music...”

“Those who hear your voice liken you to an angel!”

“Think of their cry of undying support!”
Yuuno looked at his letter, “Is this her angel of music...?”

“We get our opera...” Chrono popped open the Champaign.

“She gets her limelight!” Zafira toasted to them.

“Follow where the limelight leads you!” Hayate allowed everyone to prepare her for her roles.

Their eyes widened in annoyance, “Leading ladies are a trial!”

Yuuno’s grip tightened on the letter, “Angel or madmadman...?”

“Prima donna, your song shall never die!” Hayate glided down from the stepstool in full costume.

Alicia shook her head and walked away, “Heaven help you, those who doubt...”

“You'll sing again, and to unending ovation!” She swished down the hall with Zafira and Chrono chasing after her.

“Orders! Warnings! Lunatic demands!” Yuuno gritted his teeth and bustled down the hall.

Alicia ran a hand through her hair, “This miscasting will invite damnation.”

“Think how you'll shine in that final encore! Sing, prima donna, once more!” Hayate waved her hand at ever passing person. She was back to her blissful diva self.

“Oh fools, to have flouted her warnings!”

“Surely, for her sake...” Yuuno bit his thumb.

“Surely there'll be further scenes worse than this!” Zafira and Chrono found themselves running as Hayate grew faster and faster.

“Think, before these demands are rejected!” Alicia warned no one in particular.

“I must see these demands are rejected!” Yuuno threw the note to the ground.

“Who'd believe a commander happy to relieve an officer, who's gone and slept with the patron? Yuuno and the soubrette, entwined in love's duet! Although he may demur, he must have been with her!” It wasn’t fair to Nanoha or Yuuno but Zafira and Chrono were happy to accept it as the truth if it meant they didn’t have to hear Hayate complain.

“O, fortunata! Non ancor abbandonata!”

“Italian again?”

As they grew nearer to the stage, Zafira and Chrono started to congratulate themselves. “You'd never get away with all this in a play, but if it's loudly sung and in a foreign tongue, it's just the sort of story audiences adore, in fact a perfect opera!”

“His game is over!” Yuuno climbed up to box 5.

“This is a game you cannot hope to win!” Alicia warned him.

“And in Box Five a new game will begin...”

“For, if his curse is on this opera...”

“Prima donna, the world is at your feet! A nation waits, and how it hates, to be cheated!” A finale prod and they would have Hayate on the stage.

“The stress that falls upon a famous prima donna! Terrible deseases, coughs and colds and sneezes!” Hayate finally took her place among the other the other cast members.

Zafira and Chrono thought it was much harder for them then their lead.

“Still, the dryest throat will reach the highest note, in search of perfect opera!”

Yuuno leaned on box 5’s balcony, “Nanoha plays the Pageboy, Hayate plays the Countess...” Admittedly he’d rather see Nanoha as the Countess but they couldn’t give in to an insane person.

They all began to speak at once, “Light up the stage with that age-old rapport! Sing, prima donna, once more!”

The Phantom cursed as she stood in the catwalk. How dare they? And that boy in her box! She had warned them and they were stupid enough to disobey her. “So, it is war between us!” Her words rang out but no one heard them in their own chattering.

She jumped onto the railing, anyone who looked up would get a terrible fright. “If these demands are not met, a disaster beyond your imagination will occur!”

“Once… MORE!”

Spoiler for Notes, and changes:

There aren't many major changes in the Notes scene with the exception of lampshading Hayate's random Italian (I contemplated cutting it or replacing it with Japanese but I didn't want to for various reasons. Other changes are really just names. (Takamachi is a very awkward word to replace Daee with ><)

Prima Donna has a lot of changes for several reasons. One, the lyrics I was using were the play's so it doesn't match the movie perfectly ><. Two I like having the phantom speak at the end so that's why I used that version. There are also a few extra lines added in (on being the joke on ingenue, a word I had to look up)

And in case anyone asks the only reason Alicia is in the role of Madam Giry is that she was the only person I could think of who would have some kind of connection to Fate other then Arf. Personally I don't think it conflicts with Eva's back story at all.

I can't remember the last time I had such an interesting night. Most people I ran across were either self-centered or really just your average person. Nanoha, on the other hand, tried her best to keep the topic of the night on me instead of herself and we even had a nice fifteen minute long conversation about things that I even had to ask her to explain to me. Now don't get me wrong, I am smart- very smart- but this girl... Wow. I was awed. Smoking hot, really humble, a smile to die for, and she could hold a conversation to keep someone like me entertained.

I wanted her so bad right now it was making me uncomfortable.

Luckily I have long since been able to keep my body's desired under control. I didn't need blood again for almost a month thanks to the small gulps I had of the last vampire. The taste was horrid, ruined by drugs and constant feedings on less-than-desirable people. When we drank, contrary to some beliefs, the blood didn't go into our veins. If I get cut I don't spew out like a geyser or anything silly like that, but instead it was rather different. Just like alcohol, it is absorbed into our bloodstream over the course of time. The more we drink, the more it becomes a part of us. Just as someone can ruin their blood flow by being an alcoholic, us vampires could ruin ours by drinking low quality supplies. Stoners, alcoholics, diseased people, all of their blood was drinkable but not really desirable. I personally chose my targets carefully and observed them for a few days before deciding.

My blood was clean and healthy, and if it didn't make me sick to my stomach, I might just drink my own just for the taste. The thought made me giggle lightly and Nanoha tilted her head to the side. “Sorry, I just remembered a joke I heard randomly.” Looking around, I started noticing that people were slowly starting to either dwindle away or go to the private rooms for a show they -and their wallets- wouldn't soon forget. The clock on the wall told the tale and I grinned in satisfaction. “It's already three in the morning.”

“Eh!?” Nanoha turned her head quickly to check and I was afraid she would fall over from it. The girl had a little to drink tonight: two daiquiris and a pina colada. From her weight and height and slightly woozy expression I assumed that her tolerance for the substance was actually below zero. “It is...wow...”

“Nanoha,” She looked at me and smiled. Once again I was amazed at how much she could think while intoxicated. “Have you ever drank alcohol before?”

“Nuh uh,” She shook her head and held her hand to it. “Wow, I suddenly feel light headed.”

“It is because you just started moving instead of sitting still. Come on, let's get you home before you start feeling sick or something. I told you not to order that last one...”

“I'm sorry,” She tried to reach into her purse for some money but I threw some bills down before she did. “I can pay for my own...”

Helping her stand, I guided her through the club a little slower than we came in. “You live above your bakery, right?” I knew the answer but wanted to ask her anyway to make her feel more comfortable. “I'll walk you.”

“I'm okay, I can make it back.”

“Not when you're tipsy and this late at night.” My eyes looked around the club and locked onto a male's not far from the door. He smirked at me and I noticed a small fang just barely visible appear from between his lips. I had noticed him before while dancing with Nanoha but my goal right now was pleasing my new friend and not hunting. I had a drink not long ago... I would save him for later. “Come on,” I encouraged her once we got into the night air. She was leaning against me lightly, mostly just to get her bearings straight. “Thank you for coming tonight.”

“I'm sorry I made you wait,” Her eyes were slightly unfocused but after stopping a moment to rub them and take a steadying breath, she sobered up enough to walk on her own. “Say, do you know a back way?”

“Back way?”

“Um, I don't want to take a chance on being seen. A few people from church are policemen and they patrol the main streets I'm told.”

I chuckled at her nervousness. “They won't catch you. Even if they did drive by, the odds of them recognizing you at night is very slim.”

She thought about it and shook her head at her own silliness. “You're right, I'm just paranoid.” Her eyes alternated between looking ahead and glancing at me the remainder of the trip. I learned a lot about her the past few hours: Her favorite color was blue, she was studying with no clear goal in mind but was going for her bachelor's degree, and everyone expected her to run her own bakery just like her parents did. She seemed to have an extremely sheltered life but at the same time I could tell she didn't really like it. She was perfectly corruptible, and I was looking forward to doing it. She noticed my staring and smiled at me so I smiled back.

“Here we are,” I stated the obvious in front of her door. “I had fun.”

“Me too,” She agreed honestly.

I couldn't help but tease the angelic girl. “So, do you kiss on the first date?”

She almost fell over in shock. “Fate-chan...”

“Oh well,” I took her wrist and sweeped into a bow, kissing the top of her hand gently. “By your leave, my lady.”

“Oh... oh wow,” She blushed darkly and slowly took her hand back, rubbing the spot I kissed with her other palm shyly. With another small grin that showed my fangs I waved with two fingers and started walking away from her. “Um, Fate-chan!?” I looked over my shoulder and saw her leaning out of the half open door leading into her bakery. “Come by again, okay?”

“Sure,” I waved again and got one back. The area around here was very nice, obviously in a nicer part of town but nothing too fancy. Nothing like my home at least. My guesses were that most of Nanoha's money went to paying for her tuition. I could probably help her out there a little, if she would let me.

Looking around, I walked between two buildings and crouched down. With a solid leap, I managed to land on the top of the building behind me in one single back flip. With a running start I jumped from it onto the roof of another and built up my speed. True, I wasn't anywhere near as powerful as myths and legends made vampires out to be, but there were many things that were never recorded as well...

I thought I was only going to do do that one part of Phantom of the Lyrical. I meant to do only that one part but it's captured my attention and I can't help but write more. So If no one minds I'll take over ('course Eva is welcomed to write what ever parts he feels like because it is his idea) I know I left off on a clifffhanger but I believe it's best for me to write a begining before I continue so...

Here is the prologue.

One step. Two step. Cane. One step. Two step. Can. It was all he had been able to do for a long time, like having a third leg a cane was. It was even more of a bother on steps and steps he was forced to climb at the moment.

The old opera house needed repairs in the worst way. Once upon a time it had been the grandest place in all of Mid-Childra. A place seemingly forgotten by the annuls of time. A memory of a long forgotten past. But that had been a long time ago. That had been back when the TSAB still held its yearly opera.

Nostalgia filled him as he held the handle of the door. Had it really been forty years? He shook his head. No it hadn’t. It’d been nearly fifty years. He opened the heavy doors, no small feat for a man about to reach seventy. Never mind the years, nothing much had changed since then, his fortunes certainly hadn’t.

The inside was just as bad as the outside. A thick layer of dust shielded everything from view, spiders had made the building into their kingdom and anything worth anything had long been stolen or locked away. Still the theater hinted, like an old movie star, that it had once been great. As he entered the building he saw the auction had already begun, already up to lot 660. He took his place among the bidders, he noted they were all old, all like him, likely they all remembered the events that had taken place in this very room.

One such person caught his eye. She looked the same, out of all those still alive she alone didn’t age. Familiars were lucky like that. Yes, Arf looked exactly as he remembered. A look of recognition passed over her face but they both merely nodded and returned to watching the auctioneer.

The red haired young man continued on. “Lot 664 ladies and gentlemen is from the heyday of this opera house. From the TSAB’s production of Hannibal.”

He nodded to his assistant and the pink haired woman held up an old yellowed poster.

“Do I hear 10? No. Maybe five then?”

The old man raised his hand.

“Ah five. No one against,” no one raised their hands. “Sold then.. Thank you sir.”

He nodded.

“Moving on to lot 665.” The auctioneer again motioned to his assistant.

She held up a small gold triangle no bigger then the palm of her hand.


“Now this is a treasure. This is an ancient device a good fifty years old I’d say. We found this in the vault. Not another in the world like it I promise you. Still works too. Let’s start at… 20 yes 20?”

The old man raised his hand.

“25?

Arf raised hers.

“30 then?”

The old man again.

Arf started to raise her hand then faltered and stopped.

“No. No more? Sold then. Than thank you Mr. Scrya.”

Yuuno motioned for it to brought to him. The young woman did so. He turned it over in his hand.

He stared at it, thinking softly to himself, “A collector's piece indeed...” those who would collect such a thing was a mystery to him. “Every detail exactly as she said...” it was undeniable whose it had been. “She often spoke of you, my friend” he wasn’t thinking about the triangle anymore. “....Your golden color, and the mysteries you hold...” Mysteries he still had no answer for. “Will you still work, when all the rest of us are dead?”

“Now we have a real treat folks. Lot 666 isn’t really for sale but the owner couldn’t help but want to show it off.” He gripped the cloth covering a large mass. “It’s a chandelier you see. We’ve been told this is the very chandelier from the incident of the Phantom of the Opera. I wasn’t born yet but I hear the mystery has never been explained. The new owner has fixed it up and even modified the lights to work with proper magic. Perhaps it we light it the ghosts will all disappear.” With a single motion he ripped it off.

The massive grand chandelier flickered to life. From above someone started to pull it up raising the creaking mass through the dark theater. As it lit up it was if the past was coming back to life. It was as if fifty years of dust and cobwebs were blown away by magic. The red seemed to return to the seats the dead lights on the stage lit up once again, the statues around the edges regained their glory as the chandelier returned to the center of the ceiling, where it had always belonged.

And all at once Yuuno remembered it all again.

There will of course be tons of dialog changes as I go along so I won't bother to mention all of those. Plotwise there's no real change and if your a tad confused that's alright because it's to be expected if you don't know the story of The Phantom of the Opera and if you do well... And at the end just to clarify it's supposed to be Yuuno's imagination. The opera house isn't really returning to the way it had been >< (just wanted to make sure that was clear).

I was in a sappy mood lately.. But then I read all those angst a few days back. Then I read some crack at the Mai HiME section.. And then I suddenly said: WTH!! and started writing something. (Oh God... *shifty eyes*) and so... (Please bare with me as this is my first time doing this)

I placed my cellphone in my pocket and hastily pulled my jacket from the only chair in my room. I took my wallet from my dresser as I finished putting the jacket on and dashed out the door. "Is this it, Nanoha?", was the thought that crossed my mind then.I was so excited and nervous as I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. carry me to you.... Then I got on a bus and waited.. I'm coming...

I didn't know how but I found myself in front of your door soon enough, hands on my knees and panting. It was the bus one moment then your house the next.. I guess I really wanted to see you as soon as possible too. I smiled at the thought and quickly straightened my clothes in an attempt to make myself look decent.

You opened the door after three of my knocks, took my hand in your own, and led me to your room upstairs. I could feel some kind of tension as we stood across from each other. You were fidgeting but still you held on to my hand. so warm…. I was nervous. You were too. I didn't know who had the sweaty palms then, but I didn't care anyway. It didn't matter. We stood in awkward silence. Slowly, shyly, your eyes met mine and I was momentarily stunned. Nanoha, I never told you but... the first time I had seen those eyes and that face made prettier by your bright smile, I had been captivated. Something had lit within me, catching me off guard, awakening something... A feeling... it was warm. I had no idea what it was at the time. I was only certain that it was caused by you... and that it felt good. It was the same feeling then in that room. I smiled knowing that after more than a couple of years you still had the same effect on me. Only you.

Your face broke into a wide grin. My heart beat erratically, thump thump thump, and my insides turned to mush. All these feelings Nanoha... I had been feeling all these feelings since I met you. I struggled to place a name for it and I found it a year after we became best friends. It had been held up inside of me for a long time, daring me every now and then to come out and say it. I never found the courage... Until now. You opened your mouth to speak-

"Yuuno-kun’s my boyfriend!"

I wasn't sure anymore. All I knew was I felt like being hit by a boulder so large I couldn't recover. I felt like a little child who had her favorite doll taken by her mother. Nanoha, I never told you but at that moment... my heart broke.

I placed my cellphone in my pocket and hastily pulled my jacket from the only chair in my room. I took my wallet from my dresser as I finished putting the jacket on and dashed out the door. "Is this it, Nanoha?", was the thought that crossed my mind then.I was so excited and nervous as I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. carry me to you.... Then I got on a bus and waited.. I'm coming...

I didn't know how but I found myself in front of your door soon enough, hands on my knees and panting. It was the bus one moment then your house the next.. I guess I really wanted to see you as soon as possible too. I smiled at the thought and quickly straightened my clothes in an attempt to make myself look decent.

You opened the door after three of my knocks, took my hand in your own, and led me to your room upstairs. I could feel some kind of tension as we stood across from each other. You were fidgeting but still you held on to my hand. so warm…. I was nervous. You were too. I didn't know who had the sweaty palms then, but I didn't care anyway. It didn't matter. We stood in awkward silence. Slowly, shyly, your eyes met mine and I was momentarily stunned. Nanoha, I never told you but... the first time I had seen those eyes and that face made prettier by your bright smile, I had been captivated. Something had lit within me, catching me off guard, awakening something... A feeling... it was warm. I had no idea what it was at the time. I was only certain that it was caused by you... and that it felt good. It was the same feeling then in that room. I smiled knowing that after more than a couple of years you still had the same effect on me. Only you.

Your face broke into a wide grin. My heart beat erratically, thump thump thump, and my insides turned to mush. All these feelings Nanoha... I had been feeling all these feelings since I met you. I struggled to place a name for it and I found it a year after we became best friends. It had been held up inside of me for a long time, daring me every now and then to come out and say it. I never found the courage... Until now. You opened your mouth to speak-

"Nanoha, I--"

"Yuuno-kun’s my boyfriend!"

Silence.

"Wh-what?"

I felt like I couldn't breathe. Maybe it was because it hurt so much. Maybe it was because I knew I was lying to you. Or maybe it was because of both. I think I knew but I wasn't sure. I wasn't sure anymore. All I knew was I felt like being hit by a boulder so large I couldn't recover. I felt like a little child who had her favorite doll taken by her mother. Nanoha, I never told you but at that moment... my heart broke.
