Given the sheer amount of Oreal Cruises (aka 2-3 resource gathering) people do everyday, it's very common for subs to be some of the higher-level units one can have. Mine are all in the 80+ range barring I-401 for example.

Speaking of Oreal Cruises... Makigumo GET! FINALLY!

EDIT: Yep, looks like the things that are making the Eighth Destroyer Fleet sortie quest difficult is the combination of getting your girls to the boss node in one piece (CAs, BBs, and CVs will tear them up good), and literally getting there AT ALL, meaning hoping against hope that the compass doesn't troll you hard.

Speaking of resource gathering and subs, my negligence caused my only sub to die yesterday. Then the RNG goddess decided to give me another Shimakaze, two days in a row. Great... Not sure when am I ever gonna get another sub.

Do not attempt to go forward if you go afk for whatever reasons.

Yup that's exactly what happened. Went afk and came back clicking without paying attention and BAM I got a dead girl on my hands.

Until I get another sub, is there an alternative way to get fuel? Expeditions are really slow

Blue/Green
Silver

Actually for rarity it's:

Blue/Blue Green (Akatsuki)
Chrome (Atago)
Gold (Yubari)
Holo (Nagato)
Rainbow Holo (Yahagi)

And even then its not a good indicator for drops, as for example Kumano is a "mere" chrome rarity ship, ditto for Mikuma, who's supposedly gold but getting her will give you nightmares out of LSC.

Achikuana: Without subs? Hah, good luck, you're stuck with daily quests or expeditions.

EDIT: Done with the Eight Destroyer Fleet quests, now Eighteenth Destroyer Fleet quests are looking me at the face. World 3-1? Seriously?

Sorry to hear about that.

If i'm not wrong 3-3 first node drop I-158 (and even Mutsu), so can try to farm her back there. If you haven't up to there yet, the only other choice is construction =(

Aaaaaas usual, the problem I'm encountering now with the 18th Destroyer Group sortie quest isn't the boss itself, oh no, it's GETTING to the boss node at World 3-1 at all. And compass girl doesn't want me to go south. Wonderful isn't it.

Oh, and I somehow got a second Makigumo. And got to Admiral. Too bad it's the last five days left into the month, and there's no real way for me to make Marshall anymore.

EDIT: Hmm. HMM. 10 tries at 3-1 so far tonight, all of the time I've been routed north. Now I'm wondering if Kadokawa secretly put in a composition requirement for the stage.

My group is obviously Shiranui, Kagerou, Arare, and Asashio, with a sub and a battleship.

Agree on this, I got much often any golden battleship on 3-2-2 than Soryuu than is supposed to be golden as well.

BTW isn't Nagato supposed to be Rainbow Holo? Shimakase and Yukikase are Holo, no ?

eh, I just do baseline 30/30/30/30 until I exhausted the drop pool.

Nagato is indeed Rainbow Holo, distinguished by the grand cross on the top left corner.

Also, strictly speaking,
Yamato/Musashi/Yahagi are considered Sakura Holo, which is as of now the highest tier rarity. But most just see them as Rainbow Holo anyway.

Oh boy, I am seriously starting to hate the 18th DesDiv sortie quest. It's ridiculously luck-based, in a game where RNG is already queen -- the Compass sends you north 9 out of 10 times, and when does it sends you south, there's still a 2 out of 3 chance that it'll route you East instead of towards the boss node.

And when you finally get to the Boss node, you better pray hard, as the boss node spawns orange, yellow, and red-class Abyss ships. And Haruhi help you if it gives them the orange Ru-class battleship, urgh.

So yeah, struggling. The team I'm trying to use is obviously Kagerou, Shiranui, Arare, and Kasumi (all Kai'd) plus a sub and a battleship at babysitters. It usually works out until the boss node, where it becomes a battle to save enough HP to be effective at Night Battle... which doesn't always happen. Blargh.

Cause i sent the 18th DD Division and the 5th Carrier both to 3-1 for their quest. It sent me North once, sent South twice, first time miss the boss node, 2nd time i clear both quest with it.

And 18th DesDiv quest done! Pretty much owe it a bit to RNG, as the red, orange, and gold-aura'd Abyss ships on 3-1's boss node kept on missing. In the end, all my destroyers were reduced to orange, but that didn't matter as I configured them for Double Attack for night battle anyway. :P

On other news... Wow, does that ranking fluctuate quickly or what? When I got home my rank was Admiral, but less than two hours later I was back to Vice-Admiral. What the HELL are these guys doing to get their rankings? Grinding high exp-maps 24-7?

Just out of curiosity, is there any reason to rush up the ranks? Do you get anything for being in the top 500 at the end of each month?

Yes, you do get rewarded for being in the top 500.
Usually a piece of new type of equipment such as Seiran, or like this past month:
