Version 2, I moved a little the text and made it a little less bright:

I'd like that Yui the best too. But seeing the image is vertical, while our banner dimensions stretch horizontally it would be quite unfortunate if only her face and a bit of her shoulder would fit into the height, since the power of that image lies within her kimono pattern. If you can somehow fit the image without really compromising the size, then go for it

...looking at the rendered work again, not without managing to destroy some of the outline...
I rushed it a little, mainly using the magnetic lasso and background eraser tools. I've been busy lately (holiday work), so I'll try again soon!

It's similar to the problem I had the last time, working on the Halloween banner. In this case, I'd probably have to rotate it a little.
Otherwise, I'd just cop out and use the Last Exile one instead...

Hmm... I think the text should have more contrast against the background, but if you insist on using white for the text color, then how about covering it with an outline (strokes)?

Magnetic lasso? but yeah, extracting is very time-consuming if we want a neat result.

Yeah, I usually rotate the pic when I come across that problem That Last Exile one also good IMO, especially to give a sense of crowd

IMPORTANT

We posted a new version of the gradient now that removes the ICC profile which should solve the color-matching issues some people were having.

Please update your banners and use the fixed file. Also, when exporting your final output using the Save for Web feature, please ensure the "Embed ICC Profile" option is turned off.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

^ The text font doesn't fit. It looks like something out of an 80s horror movie.

Sorry for not providing feedback sooner, we were checking the problem with the gradient and I had to go out for several hours.

The text is mighty difficult to read so I am gonna have to ask you to make it a lot more visible.

The first version goes above the allowed limit of 61440 bytes, so you need to fix that if you are planning to go with that one. Another thing is the glow you have on the background; it creates a line of sorts (left side), which gives the impression that the banner is not blending well regardless of how much empty space you left on either side.

As others have pointed out, the font is sorta lost in the background and you need to make it stand out more. Do change to the new gradient while you are at it.

And now?
Font looks much more legible; I actually prefer your very first banner (sans the text alignment), but that's just me.
