Although I do want Megumi to win, there needs to be a villain for Souma to compete against. Ryou will probably win, especially since grandpa didn't bare his chest for Megumi (LOL I can imagine so many sexual harassment charges if this was the US).

Well, technically the 'villain' in this arc is that guy who's always snorting that stick. So nah, it's not because Ryou is the 'villain' that he will win over Megumi. Megumi is going to lose because if Alice of all people hasn't beaten Ryou even once, I doubt Megumi stands a chance. XD

And yeah, forgot that Alice and Ryou were implied to be osananajimi last season. Now we get a peak, but still, how come Ryou is the one under Alice when she never beat him before? Need more backstory plox!

I don't get the ending? Why flower? Why running? Why falling into water effect? So cliche and it doesn't even make any sense!

The op is already terrible but not the ending too?

Their relationship isn't one of cooking skills, it's about who wears the pants in the relationship.

Also Ryo clearly belongs into the kitchen with Alice being the one who brings the money home for the family. xD

Loli Alice and Shota Ryo were so adorable! More background-story needed indeed! <3

GJ, Megumi! Gone is the nervous girl, bring in the gutsy girl! Fighting on Ryo at his favorite "battlefield" and then doing such an impressive job to sway the judges with her clear broth is darn good! Souma was a good influence on her.

That whole episode I was waiting for the Jojo reference and of course it had to be placed at the very last second of the episode lol

Episode 2

So it's Megumi vs Ryo. And Ryo is showing the kind of monster he is with his aggressive cooking. It's like he's fighting the ingredients instead of cooking them or whatever lol. And Megumi is doing things calmly and non-aggressively. Ryo went for a strong flavor for his Ramen while Megumi decided to counter it and go for a less explosive flavor. And then we get that Jojo in the end lol.

So Ryo is better than Alice? Then why on earth is he roaming around with that loser? Does it have something to do with Alice being the old Nakiri's granddaughter and allowing him admission in this school and having him roam around with her as her attendant being the condition?

Ryo believes that chefs are fighters who wage war in the kitchen and are supposed to force their opponent to their knees. Megumi believes that this isn't war nor a one man show where you have to do everything and you die if you lose etc. This is a battle between two opposite approaches to cooking. Ryo's approach is that you're all alone in this dangerous world of cooking while Megumi believes that you're not alone. Both have experience in the kitchen of a restaurant – Ryo used to run a restaurant while Megumi helped out in her restaurant's kitchen. And I think the OP hinted that ponytail guy, Soma and Ryo will be the last ones standing.

The ED was good, but still not better than the first season's second ED (Sacchan no Sekushi Curry). The OP was good too but not good enough compared to the first season's OPs.

We got part of their backstory this week, I expect the next episode to elaborate on it.

While her dish properly reflects her culinary preferences, I think it was a bad choice for this matchup. It's a good thing that Ryo served first, because if his intense dish was a follow-up to Megumi's relaxing one, it wouldn't be possible for him to lose IMO.

They said in this same episode that her soup had a strong umami flavor, and thus was a dish that focused on giving a strong flavor impression too. It's just that she went for a dish that got most of its flavors from dried vegetables rather than seafood.

That was a mistranslation. At least in the raw manga the term Ryou used was Kachi-koshi, which is a term used in sumo to denote more wins than loses. So the implication is that they have gone at it several times with Ryou having the upper hand or they being equal.

Episode 3:

Good episode.

Now I think some scenes could of done better but the anime still captured the magic of the food crafting in particular Ryo this episode. To say the least, Hisako did her best and so did Megumi so they should be proud of their performance. Subaru is a weird character imo.

Definitely going to get a burger today for lunch or dinner lol

Little Erina's also cute!

That was actually the hardest moment in the episode to me to watch it through. The turtle seemed so lovely...

I remember hearing this spot got a lot of response when it came out in the manga too; people were not very pleased to see a live turtle killed and gutted.

Also, I partly wanted to see someone stand up and demand that those two apologize to Ronald for their blasphemy. I mean honestly, there are people here in America that would throw those things back in the chefs' faces saying "this crap is NOT a hamburger!".

If it didn't want to be horribly butchered, why was it so delicious?

The turtle thing was not a big deal to me but i gotta admit still that this was very anti-climactic. They focused far more on Subaru then they did the actual battle. Though i will say this. Next episode will make or break the season because there's so many pieces to it that they better do it right.

You don't see us throwing a fit when you put fish in your tacos. Now shut up and eat your turtle bun hamburger

Be thankful the anime cut out the panel depicting all the entrails after opening the turtle
