Needless 0 is a volume that contains a bunch of side stories and prequels to the serialized manga. One of those stories (actually the first one) is Needless 1.5 which takes place before Needless 2 starts. Like Thor said, it takes place 2 years after the current Needless timeline.

We have no indications for this chapter and according to the anime, needless 2 takes place in past (appear in flashback in episode 10)

No blade in 1.5 (mom is the only needless 1 character), and in needless 2, there are no needless 1.5 characters and blade/setsuna/kurumi are only characters of needless 1.

Cruz does not appear in needless 1.5 and needless 2

So what? That means nothing. For example, we know from Imai's official website that Eve is alive in Needless 2.

The absence of Blade and many of the characters from the main cast is irrelevant. If they aren't shown is simply because the author doesn't want us to find what happened to them. Not to mention it would ruin the tension from the current and final arc of Needless part 1. But I repeat, they not appearing in the later timeline means absolutely nothing.

Because, i read in different forum (and this) when we ask information about needless 1.5 and 2, they redirect to chapter 1.5 and 2 of volume 0.

Perhaps a little more clarification is in order, regarding that timeline.

The original Needless story was a 2000 page doujin written way back when Imai was still at school, and other than a few images on the artist's website, no one apart from his friends and family has ever seen it. It falls into two parts, with two different protagonists:

Needless 1: Adam Blade (male)
Needless 2: Adam Neuschwanstein (female) (because it's a pain typing all that, we shortened it to ANn...)

The current Needless story is based on this doujin, but how closely (or not) is anyone's guess. According to the author, Cruz, Arca, Saten and Uten are all new characters, which I suspect has made quite a difference to the plot... BTW, the diagram posted by Adan was published about the same time as chapter 40, and the story is now (probably) approaching the end of part 1.

Later came another doujin called BLACK SPOT which features characters called Cain and Abel. You can read the first 2 chapters on the website, and apparently the book is (or was) available to buy... but AFAICT it isn't canon as far as the current story is concerned.

The professional publication of Needless in Ultra Jump started with a number of one-shots which were later collected into a volume titled Needless Zero. Its contents are:

Needless 1.5 - the prologue to Needless 2, introducing Cain and ANn.
Sacred Sword of the Reaper ("Death god's holy sword" in the diagram above) - prologue to Needless 1, introducing Blade.
Second Sight - none of the characters from this story have appeared in Needless 1. It remains to be seen whether any of them will turn up in part 2.
Egoic Lotus - ditto.

After Needless proper began serialisation, several more side stories were published, and these were collected into another Zero volume, Needless Zero II. (You can see how all these numbers might cause confusion...) Its contents:

Genesis
Burning Knuckle
Killer Girls
Horror House
Goldilocks - not shown in the diagram, follows chapter 16
Fire Diamond - precedes the main story

thor94 Member Join Date: Feb 2012	Spoiler for spoiler: yes, i say that regarding to needless 1.5 events only, because in needless 2.0 my impression is (if all characters are alive) that each blade team members live his life (they separated) Cruz is not really died, he have had only a heart arrest. Teruyama is really dead and ressurected, cruz have just been reanimated

Spoiler for spoiler: there are only 6 members in blade resistance (7 with teruyama resurection) and according to needless 2 and imai disclosures: blade, eve, seto and solva are alive in future, if there are casualties it can be only cruz or/and disk
