This episode made me experience such a wide range of emotions. Laughter, excitement, sadness... Only Gintama can do this so seamlessly.

This arc keeps getting more and more epic. Unexpectedly, it is touching on Gintoki's backstory. That short flashback showing Zura, Takasugi and Gintoki around Shoyo-sensei's head was heartbreaking. I can't believe Katsura is missing from this arc... They're toppling the country and Shoyo's murderer is here! That's not time to remain in stand-by!!

what an epic episode, the 1st half were usual gintama awesomeness, and the 2nd half were Just EPIC!!!!
Sunrise made a good choice to use kakashi voice for oboro

The animation of this episode is really amazing! One of the best in Gintama so far. I read this arc in the manga but the epicness of the anime still gets me. Really awesome episode!

Gintoki really had some awesome moments this ep...man this arc is epic. Damn it though, where the hell is Zura in all this! Screw preparations, he needs to get in there and cause utter chaos.

Unexpected indeed. Felt really bad seeing Gintoki restrained as Shoyo was taken away. Only to be reunited again with just his head...

Waiting for eps to come out for this arc is going to be fairly painful.

Awesome episode was awesome, so many badass moments hard to keep track of them all. The only minor complaint is that I thought it was slightly too fast paced.
Also Inoue Kazuhiko as Oboro was a great pick, first Jojo now this he had a good week.

This episode only solidified why this arc should be made into a movie. Those still shots do not do it justice.

At least the budget went into the moments that truly mattered. Demon Gin truly is frightening. And let's not forget the bits of dark humor thrown in for good measure. Poor Sayo

Well, yeah. I was hoping to see something on par with 4 devas arc. It's good and all, but I can't help feeling slightly disappointed.

Episode 259 made all the reruns somewhat bearable now and also push the overarching story a bit further in regards to Gintoki's background further along (atleast within the tv series).

Quite possibly the best episode i've seen from this series. The closure to Gintoki's development was the icing on an already perfect wedding cake. Shoyo's words to Gintoki during the last flashback had such a huge impact. They basically sum up Gintoki's character perfectly, and explain why he is the man that he is today. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Tokugawa's words to Maizou was another well placed scene. Love that music placement.

Last ep of the arc next week. Can't wait. Best arc of the series, hands down.

I'm 100% pleased with how this arc has been handled in the anime. Pretty happy with myself for not reading the manga after the first and second seasons ending. This arc has been such a treat to watch, especially when not knowing what's going to happen. I sure do love Gintama.

This can be used as parody IF Shinobu seiyuu is same as just like in drama CD. Too bad Shaft made another decision.

Either way, this episode is great. It is the first time Shogun looks really cool.

Possibly yeah. In Four Devas arc he killed Amanto not humans so you're probably right. Of course he must have killed some traitors during the war but we've never seen it.

BTW, I'm not surprised that he killed someone who tried and kill his beloved Tsukky :].

On a different note, on the biggest Polish Gintama forum (although in the 392nd chapter thread) one of the female users had come up with (IMO) a better way of removing poison from Gintoki. She suggested that Tsukuyo could suck it along with the blood. Now that would be a sight I would like to see . She has also noticed where exactly Tsukuyo grabbed Gintoki. This arc shows that Tsukuyo x Gintoki pair is canon.

This episode was absolutely perfect. The flashback was heartwrenching, and explained why Gintoki is the way he is. He is still upholding his promise to Shoyo. Perhaps Takasugi would have followed another path if he had been able to hear those words.

I loved the Shogun's contribution. Amazing how even a joke character like him can be so badass. His actions proved he is no mere puppet. If only he had opened his eyes sooner.

Next week will be the epilogue. Will the promise be fulfilled?

Well this arc will end next week. I hope they would do some random comedy episode first instead of jump right into the Obi One arc. A serious arc is always good but I loves random comedy episode too. Haven't seen them in a long time.

Man what a touching flashback again for Gintoki...
Damn I wouldn't mind seeing more of the Shogun leading the entire police force in a fight. Finally a badass moment for him.

Nobume was pretty cute with that donut.

Can't wait to see the last ep for the arc. I want to see what Zura's reaction would be to all this though, wonder what the hell he's doing during this fairly large scaled though short duration event.
