Here's Another Television Spot For The Force Awakens:
"Can you piece together The Force Awakens yet? Disney has released a fourth television spot for the upcoming Star Wars film, which has a couple of new snippets of footage that we haven’t seen yet. This trailer seems to emphasize more of the action, and shows Kylo Ren in action, as well as a couple of new shots with Finn in the Falcon’s gun turret." See: http://io9.com/heres-another-televis...ens-1742631982 ================================= More Star Wars: The Force Awakens plot details emerge: "In case you missed it, after putting a Fort Knox-like lockdown on plot details for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney and Lucasfilm are suddenly blabbing about everything. Thanks in part to EW’s Star Wars double-issue, this week has been a bonanza for those looking for info on the film, with new footage, sweet new character photos, and some pretty significant plot details." I am getting to the point where I don't want to see the movie because of all the hype surrounding it. I am not seeing it right away because i refuse to participate in the opening weekend madness that's going to happen. I will wait a bit before I see it, also I want to make sure it's not utter crap.

Given that I've seen all the other movies, and am a fan of the franchise (though not a hardcore one), I'm interested in seeing where this will go. But, given how disappointing the prequels were (except for Revenge of the Sith), I'm not getting my hopes up. However, given that George Lucas isn't directing the movie, I'm mildly optimistic that this movie will be worth it.

Having read Time Magazine's cover article from this week, I am now convinced even more that this will be simply A New Hope v. 2.0... mostly because the article flat-out states that a lot of elements from the original movie are clearly being lifted for The Force Awakens. I guess the author saw about 20 minutes of footage and said it was fairly clear that they're reusing some big elements.

This The Force Awakens Trailer Is Probably Your
Last Hit Of New Footage Before The Movie: "You thought they were done releasing snifters of new Star Wars footage in endless trailers and TV spots, now that we’re just a week away from the release of The Force Awakens. Well, think again! A new international Chinese trailer has hit the web, and it’s positively filled with new snippets." See: http://io9.com/this-the-force-awaken...-hi-1747287133 |

Having said that, this movie does not exist to me until at least July 2016. I prefer to live in a different time dimension to everybody else. Hype, what hype. #hipstertimelord |

Angry Star Wars Fans Threaten To Spoil The Force
Awakens: "According to Bleeding Cool, a group of angry ‘Star Wars’ fans have threatened the unimaginable – to spoil the plot of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ unless their demands are met. But do they want money? Fame? Jedi Training? Not exactly… “The Alliance to Preserve the Expanded Universe is a Star Wars private Facebook group that organises petitions against Disney and Lucasfilm,” they explain, “asking them to continue creating stories based in Star Wars Legends, the brand formerly known as the Expanded Universe.” "“The group’s goals are to convince Disney and Lucasfilm to continue the stories of Star Wars Legends with new Legends books, comics, and games, even if those stories are an alternate universe and to raise awareness of the line,” they explained. “And in order to do that, it is encouraging its 3,694 members to spoil Star Wars: The Force Awakens in as many forms of social media as they can, unless Disney and Lucasfilm give into their demands.”" See: http://news.yahoo.com/angry-star-war...183235138.html |

Jumping the gun a bit considering that the various anthology films and Rebels could easily bring in anything from the old EU as long as it isn't about the Heroes of Yavin. In fact they have been sneaking stuff into the Clone Wars and later Rebels since 2008. Who knows what they could try to pull off after The Force Awakens.

[this post is spoiler free]
Just saw it in a local theater. Wow. One of the reasons I wanted to see it absolutely as fast as possible was not to be spoiled. And holy shit, there is a ton to spoil. Just wow. Some big stuff happens. One of the neat things I found was that if you've seen all the trailers a lot of things suddenly fall into place in ways you didn't imagine they would. Also while there is is still lots of CGI (including some obvious CGI) I love the amount of practical effects used. There are also lots of fun references to the original trilogy. If I do have to nitpick about something (spoiler-free) is the same "space compression" is in this film as was in Star Trek into the Darkness. It's like the galaxy isn't as vast as it is supposed to be and all planets seem to be right next to each other (like in ST it seemed like Earth and the Klingon homeworld were a few minutes travel apart). Other than that I don't think I can talk about it much as what you've seen in the trailers is only a fraction of the plot (or so it seems). |

But there is also plenty to complain about I think. Not everyone is going to like it, depending on what kind of Star Wars fan you are. There were certain major plot elements that were revealed too easily and some parts that were predictable. Things like "if X happens here then a sequel would be difficult" and sure enough, X doesn't happen. That's one of the complaints I read online (can enjoy these threads now without worries ), that there is too much setting up for a sequel going on, and in certain ways I can't deny that. Now anyway, it did still blow me away in a good way. "Worth the hype", probably yes. We're going to be talking about this one for a while. |
