Makes me appreciate US laws when it comes to overtime.

Lets break it down here:
* 12 hour work shift + 1 hour lunch
* 1 hour average one-way commute
* 1 hour dinner
* 8 hours sleep
* No doubt she has to work Saturdays

She's basically the female equivalent of a salaryman whose been forced to dedicate 100% of their time to the company. Nice try Japan, but cute animes will not change my mind about how screwed up that is. They need heavy reforms to fix this destructive trend.

According to Japanese fans, from traces in the anime, the commute time should be 80+ minutes one way and the work time should start at 9am.
That mean 3 hours overtime. (Japanese law: daily work time over 8 hours (excluding lunch time) are considered overtime). Assuming 20 work day/month, that mean 60h overtime per month, which is not just worrying but also exceeded the maximum overtime limit in Japanese law (45h/month). The fact that she didn't have the employee card when she get into work also make it worrying about will she get proper overtime payment. And don't forget that they're still half year away from next game's release which mean it is now a rather releasing season.
According to 2ch, 80 minutes commut time one way is rather normal, the original author have 2 years experience in game company before, and in the original manga it was 23:00 instead of 21:00.

I think you need to give Kou a bit more credit. While I won't say she's in her own world, but my reading of the manga seems to imply that her people skills is quite lacking.

episode 2

oh come on aoba, hifumin can't have a boyfriend, she'll have you as her wife for sure
i really lost it with soichiro's look of "the fuck ?" when she ask him about her smile, then he just go hide

poor aoba on this second part, as a non alcoholic drinker i always hate when everyone around me is smashed and you're like "guys please..."
i loved director ninja skill to steal meat away from kou

and to finish this beautifully.....
Spoiler for image:

and be careful on NDA aoba

Everyone has their heroes. If you admire a character designer for her work, Aoba, then good on you. Get some recognition in there for a position that usually doesn't earn all that much attention.

Ko... those sleeping masks with eyes on the outside are just creepy-looking. Just... no. Please. Pull a blanket over your head or something.

...Blue and green stripes today. Also midriff spotted! Urge. To. Poke. While. She. Stretches. Rising...

...Wait, how did Yun get hit on the head? That slow-mo shot looked like it was heading for her shoulder...

Hifumin dismisses the bickering as business as usual and gets straight to work.

They'll both end up a part of Ko's harem!

"I'm just here because you give me food, lady, I don't care what expression you have."

Time for real work for Aoba! Crafting each NPC one by one... It certainly makes it all feel more real than letting a character-builder program do it and letting an algorithm populate the world, or only having ten faces for all your NPCs and copy-pasting them everywhere, but it's gotta be a hell of a lot more work. Still, if they can pull it off, I approve.

Drinking parties... eh. I've never seen the appeal. Even if it weren't for the fact that liver problems make it terminally unwise for me to drink, deliberately imbibing something that immediately (or pretty close thereto) reduces my ability to think clearly and messes with my self-control just seems stupid. Anyway, poor Aoba was stuck in a bit of an uncomfortable position as everyone around her got drunk; except for Hifumi, apparently, but Hifumi doesn't contribute to conversations, so she wasn't much help in reining things in.

I noticed Rin seemed more interested in the question of whether Ko had a boyfriend than if Aoba had a boyfriend...

Lastly... folks, don't do what Nenecchi did at the end there. NDAs aren't a joke, and Bad Things™ can happen for even unintentionally implying something that could be seen as breaking one.

Episode 2:
Seems that Aoba-chan is getting the hang of using Autodesk Maya and now she's making 3D models!

On the other hand, Hifumi's expression when she saw Aoba eating like her pet hedgehog is priceless!

Aoba's gush on the original Fairies Story doesn't sound like what a girl would say. Really, since the first episode I have mildly suspect Aoba is a boy who was drawn as a girl by Tokuno to get published.

Wait a minute, Hifumi clocks in at a time where she can eat a meal at home close enough to lunch break that she can skip it regularly? That's like 10-11 pm maybe?

Anyone noticed Hazuki was introduced earlier in the anime? Normally, I see it as a meh move, but this one gets a pass from me cuz she doesn't really influence the plot at this point YET.

Episode 3 with Nenecchi will be good. We shall see how much potential Madoka Asahina has as a seiyuu. I was impressed by her sample voices before (one of the very few seiyuu I know like Akira Ishida who can voice an entire family (of women, Ishida can do both genders), and at a young age at that), let's see how she does Nene next time.

I didn't see any signs of more Nene in the preview. It looked like Aoba was getting her version of the villager rejected a bunch. And, judging from the episode title, maybe being late to work.

after seeing your comment i gone back to try to track when they arrive :

aoba arrive at 8am
Spoiler for size:

On a side note, i noticed some frame inconsistency here, as some stuff don't look the same on the scene before despite being nearly the same camera shot (the desk left of kou and the wooden-like door)
Spoiler for size:

hajime, yun and hifumin all check in about at the same time. we don't have any clear clock shot here but seeing this one :
Spoiler for size:

we can assume its somewhere between 10h30am and noon.

so in contrast of those discussion earlier on work hour, assuming aoba is a eager newbie that come early (any new worker at a company do that at first), we could assume their daily schedule is around 11am ~ 9pm which is fairly reasonable in term of work hours, despite looking off (start too late, end too late).

Episode 2 :

Hifumi is too adorable, I hope that hedgehog makes a physical appearance this season.
Funny seeing some of the girls being drunk this episode.

At the current pacing, I think we may be getting characterization with each of the other girls.

Is a commute time of 1.5 hrs on public transport one way really that bad? Well sure it is a bit longer than what I would have liked but it's still acceptable to me. My travel to college took around that long too. And it was Aoba's decision to work here, the commute time was her own choice.

I see another bug here, although it's one that existed in the first ep anyway.

Maybe they're custom machines built to order for the company that happen to use that case.

Actually the problem of those two shots is not inconsistency, but being difficult to understand when placed together:

In this shot, Kou was standing. Note the head position is about the top of the shelf. The notice pinned on the left is at body level, which means the space above desktop.
Spoiler for size:

This this shot, Kou just get up from her sleep and sitting on the floor. So her head position is about the desktop level. The notice pinned on the left is now shown to be above desktop.
Spoiler for size:

It's not easy to notice the difference of shot position, but one shot is on head and another in under the table so it show different things on the left.

It might sound unrealistic at least for the West, but remember that this is the Japanese workforce we are talking about. Come in early, come out late, 12-14 hours a day of work, and the work environment in general is toxic AF.

Japanese workers simply have no more time for themselves with a 60hr+ work week, and that's assuming they don't work on weekends. If you are a worker in Japan, you pretty much have to devote all your time to the company.
