Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine (Season 2)

Based off the manga by Tsutomu Nihei, this sequel to Knights of Sidonia continues the story of humanity's last hope of survival, a colonial ship named Sidonia. The main character and ace, Tanikaze Nagate, defends Sidonia and battles the mysterious alien species, the Gauna, who are out to destroy humanity for unknown reasons. The seemingly indestructible Gauna are destroyed when their core is shattered by using a lance, Kabizashi, whose tip is attached with a unique and rare alien element.

I'm excited for the series. The first season had some nice suspenseful moments, and the action was fantastic. I really do hope they improve on the CGI this season.

Also, by looking at the BluRays, it will be a 12 episodes series.

Looks like Knights of Sidonia will be returning to Netflix for its second season as Head of International Business Development and Producer for animators Polygon Pictures, Jack Liang, has posted a teaser photo to Twitter with a #netflix tag.

Knights of Sidonia returns to Japanese TV's Animeism block in Spring 2015 for Battle for Planet Nine. This second season is packaged with the promise of a bit of the original sci-fi manga author Tsutomu Nihei's earlier cyber-horror series Blame!, set to appear as a show-within-a-show in the eighth episode.

Still as good as ever.

The sound effects (Iwanamiiiii, Punchline is great in terms of this as well), the VA works, the national anthem/army marching-ish OP, everything's just as much as an audio treat as the first series; almost felt like the series has never left. Considering I have left the manga behind quite a bit ago, I can totally experience the series fresh again despite the fragmented memory.

Spoiler for Episode 1:

Sidonia is back!

Wow, I'll have to watch it with better subs, because Last-subs is horrible, but this was really, really good.

Sidonia is back, and it is back in force! I feel like I never left, and this season they've amped up the creep factor the nth degree. That scene in the science bunker, you guys know which one I'm talking about, was straight out of a horror movie.
I would feel sorry for him, but Kunato went in there of his own free will despite being warned, and he's a class A jerk, so I don't feel that sorry. Still, that's got to suck.

And so we've got even eviler "Kunato" starting his machinations on Sidonia in his plans for humanity. Poor Nagato's been caught in the middle, and now there's a battle where "Kunato" made changes to the weapons and equipment. And we've got this new intelligent Gauna girl that's helping out our pilots? I'm wondering where this is going?

Great start to the season and the best premiere of the Spring. The OP and ED were great, I was sure nothing could beat the OP of the first cour, but this one was pretty good too.

That was awesome although I personally prefer Season 1's OP/ED theme songs.

And did Migi and his crew invade this show?! Just kidding. The action was good and the buildup towards the end of Tsugumi greeting the others in space was thrilling. I also like how they did some of comedy and reintroduction of the characters.

I wonder how Nagate will respond to Tsugumi though....but so far, this season has all my attention.

Agree

well we have to wait for someone to sub it, but overall...it looks promising.

I think it might be more than 12 episodes....wishful thinking

There are some fansubs out, but they're not very good. I could figure out what was going on for the most part, but there was way too many grammar mistakes to consider it good.

I'm hoping that somebody eventually picks it up.

I read that the group that previously did it has picked it up, but unfortunately will be a 2 week delay due to translator being away from home =0(. They will translate the available eps when s/he returns, but still, it makes me sad I'll have to wait that long to see it (T_T ).
