Kannagi was brilliant... I actually *liked* the Lucky*Star Yamakan episodes because they reflected the manga source... otoh, Fractale was at best an interesting stumble (imo).

Yamakan now becomes CEO of the joint company along with other great companies
Probably to fix up his reputation after Fractale.

Well at least Black Rock Shooter looks better now.....
@yamacane_0901 山本寛 やっとプロット書き終えた……。 Yutaka Yamamoto, also known as Yamakan, is one of the most polarizing figures in anime at the moment. Known for his brash attitude and even more extreme opinions about the current state of anime, the director of the Fractale anime and Kannagi has taken to his Twitter account to tease that he has a new story completed. Based on previous statements, he has expressed a desire to create a new project based around the March 11th earthquake. Whether this is the project in question remains to be seen, as he is currently not listed as staff in any current or forthcoming productions, though it's been heavily rumored that he directed the first opening animation for Shakugan no Shana III, which has yet to be confirmed one way or the other. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...-ends-in-japan http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...rity-animation

Yamakan to makes a "3/11 charity animation"
No details yet, could be right about anything, though I guess it'll be some sort of short movie.

I thought this entry (not directly about Yamakan) on Ordet was pretty interesting.
http://aninomiyako.wordpress.com/201...-studio-ordet/ As many of us figured, Ordet wasn't actually a production studio (they assisted on projects, such as by lining up specific key animators and unit directors, but other studios ran the productions), but they're now evolving into one. Staff composition has largely changed. |

Yamakan said he would love to do a Kannagi sequel
Interesting choice as far as an answer to the "hypothetical sequel" question. |

The problem is that an animation director can control everything precisely. A normal director cannot. It's likely far too difficult to get used to the loss of control. Likewise, you're switching from a fairly consistent controlled office environment, to a hectic set where hundreds of random things can happen. Likewise, normal directors often have to deal with actors who are divas, and difficult to control. Animation directors do not have this problem. |
