Now it became very clear why Eren was kept in a dungeons, without sunlight. However, it is unclear why humans cannot kill the Titans at night.

Uh... because it's harder to see them at night?

Seriously the only sources of light they can get are from the moon (if it's full) and from torches. Other than that, it's complete and total darkness that spotting a Titan, much less excellent spots to pin 3DM hooks on, is hard.

I`m seriously wondering if Hanji is Sasha mom because both look and personality is too similar,

Hanji is 30+?
Sasha is 15

Perhaps Hanji gave birth to Sasha then went to join Recon corps?

Also it was never known what happen to Sasha mom....

try thermal camera much more thorugh than just seeing green and white

Actually no he is right the not going around at night on a titan killing spree is a fact they have ignored completely humans just don't become incapable of fighting at night dude. You can really call this P.I.S aka plot insinuated stupidity. Can not believe the author ignored such a fact that is bull crap. Can't belied I ain't notice it to bring up. The not attacking titans at night is pure ass pull on the authors side.

Keep in mind there is no street light at all outside. Try riding a horse with just torch and see how well you fare.

Major Hanji reminds me of Sasha both are crazy, weird, and funny. Erwin's last line seems a little suspicious

Are you serious? Try going out in the countryside without streetlight at night and see how dark it is.

Outside of the 3D maneuver equipment, their most advanced technology appears to be a drawbridge. And you expect them to have thermal cameras?

Though they know that Titans are WEAKER in the night time.
There is no guarantee that they will become completly inactive during night time.
Abnormals would still prove a theat.

They must've done those night operations at some point in the past, but discarded the notion since it was probably more fatal for soldiers than fighting the Titans during the day.

And if the mankind in this universe had night vision goggles, it would still be next to useless because it has limited range in wide expanses like plains and fields. Forests have better field of view, but everything would look green (though in different shades) that you'd have to go through it slowly.

And don't get me started on trying to use 3DM on a dark night inside a forest, wherein the moonlight cannot penetrate the thick canopy created by the trees, and being able to avoid every single tree while sailing through the air. As it stands, if soldiers can't use their greatest anti-Titan weapon at night, then why fight the monsters at night voluntarily?

Good episode, and this is what i had wanted this show to do since this arc began - Introducing the core members of recon corps which is going to be the main focus from now on, and a very interesting bunch of people to boot. What amused me the most is that Levi, the tough and GAR guy, actually bother helping out to clean the mansion while still maintaining his sour face.

One thing that bother me a bit : Is Hanji a guy or girl? He/she speak and behaves in a feminine tone yet her/him chest is completely flat

Actually the real concern is what Titans you DIDN'T see on your way from Point A to Point B. On your way back you may get ambushed or find yourself surrounded by Titans you didn't see.

I mean seriously, visibility in pitch darkness with just a torch is like 5-15 feet with no moon. Even with a moon you're not going to see everything either.

They just took a different technological path. Like Mayans, who had advanced building technology, but there were no wheels and metal tools.
