Well, I don't have any good April Fool's Day jokes to share so it'll just have to be some run-of-the-mill crack:

Spoiler for You Call This Archaeology?:

A/N: Yes, the title of this story is from Sean Connery's line in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The gargoyle screeched with race through its long, cleaving beak and lashed out at Yuuno Scrya. The twelve-year-old archaeologist barely raised a Round Shield in time, but his defensive spell managed to stop the animated stone guardian's claws before they reached his entirely too vulnerable body. Instead of being deflected away, though, the gargoyle continued to push against the bright green disk. A pale blue light began to swirl around its claws, energies the same color as the gargoyle's glowing eyes, and the claws began to dig into the shield.

"Barrier-piercing magic," he muttered. "Whomever set these things wasn't playing games!" Sparks flew from the interactions of the magic, and he realized that his shield wasn't going to hold much longer.

"Barrier Burst!"

Yuuno detonated the shield, turning its protective energies into a forceful blast that sent the gargoyle spinning away. The actual damage was minimal, though, and the stone guardian quickly righted itself to come hurtling back at him.

"Accel Shooter."

Four glowing pink balls like magical bullets pummeled the gargoyle, destroying its animating magic and smashing it into chunks of lifeless rock. Around the room four other gargoyles were similarly treated by Takamachi Nanoha's shooting magic. Though she was only Yuuno's age and came from a non-administered world without widespread knowledge of magic, she was already being celebrated as the TSAB's newest up-and-coming Ace.

Another flight of gargoyles had launched itself from the railing above, a half-dozen stone monsters descending to slaughter the violators of the tomb. Nanoha pointed her device, Raising Heart, in their direction.

"Accel Shooter!"

Her magic called up another swarm of homing missiles that launched at the attackers. The gargoyles banked and turned, but Nanoha's will steered the projectiles towards them, striking them down despite their best efforts.

It took concentration to control the spell, though, particularly so many shots at once. Most mages couldn't manage such a feat at all, so Nanoha could be forgiven for not realizing that the floor behind her was reshaping itself, rearing up in the shape of a thirty-foot colossus. The new guardian had giant spiked mace-heads instead of hands, shining with pale blue fire, and whipped one down towards Nanoha.

"Struggle Bind!"

Glowing green chains sprayed from the rune in front of Yuuno's hand, wrapping around the golem's arms, legs, waist, and head. It pulled, using all its strength against the binding spell, and Yuuno could feel the strain on his entire body as he fought to hold it. Nanoha turned, realizing her danger, and struck at it with the last remaining missiles from her Accel Shooter, but they did no more than chip off tiny pieces of stone.

"Nanoha!"

"Let's shoot it, my master!" Raising Heart encouraged. Nanoha leveled the device at the golem.

"Barrel extension."

Three circles appeared before Raising Heart's tip, forming a channel to build power for the spell to come.

"Divine Buster!"

A brilliant pink holocaust exploded from Raising Heart, consuming the torso, upper arms, and head of the golem, dispelling its magic and reducing the stone to a fine dust, then kept right on going into and through the wall, through a good sixty feet of stone, creating a brand new entrance into the millennia-old-pyramid.

The golem's unsupported forearms and legs crashed heavily to the floor, and then all was still.

"Wow!" Nanoha exclaimed, looking around at the damage. "Those were almost worse than Precia-san's guardians in the Garden of Time. I have new respect for your work, Yuuno-kun!"

"Um, I'm glad to hear you say that, Nanoha, but...would you please listen to me the next time I tell you not to touch something!?"

Teana closed her eyes and gathered her courage. “Um… Subaru… can I see… it?”

“Yeah… of course…” Subaru pulled her last remaining garment off her hips and put it aside.

Teana took a deep breath and slowly opened one eye to peek cautiously at it, as though the sight of it might blind her. A moment later, her nude form was rolling on the bed, laughing helplessly.

“Teana!” Subaru pouted. “What’s wrong with it? It’s working perfectly fine as you can see!”

“No no no, it’s not that,” Teana reassured her. “It’s just that the saying ‘Rainbows are straighter than Subaru’ is true even now!”

“It’s a natural curve!”

“Hahahahahaha!”





“Where did you obtain that?” Otto asked calmly as she stripped off her clothing with precision. “On second thought, I do not want to know.”

“Nyahahaha,” Vivio laughed nervously as she held the strap-on in her hand. She swallowed. “I… I think it would look good on you.

“Really,” Otto observed. “I do not need such artificial tools-” She pushed Vivio down onto the bed and pinned her wrists down. “-because I can use my own.”

“Otto, is that-“ Vivio’s gasped as she felt something warm press insistently against her thigh.

“One hundred percent all natural,” Otto smirked playfully.





“Nooooo!” Erio screamed! “Someone, anyone, help me!”

“Ah, you’re so tight and warm, Erio,” Caro sighed, a blissful look on her face as she grinded against Erio’s behind. “If only you were a girl…”

“Poor Erio,” Subaru commented at the viewscreen.

“I concur,” Otto added.

“Why are we even watching, let alone recording this!?” Teana demanded.

“If anyone finds out we’re so dead…” Vivio groaned.

“Find out about what, Vivio?”

Four people froze and slowly turned around to see the White Devil with a very artificial smile on her face.

“Nyahaha, it looks like Caro learned from her mother, Fate-chan!” Nanoha said to the blonde beside her.

“I’m so proud!” Fate said quietly.

“Too. Much. Information!” Vivio screamed as she covered her ears and pretended that the last few minutes never happened.

Wow that was..... something completely different and unexpected. I always thought that Caro was the "man" in that relationship, but the complete demasculinization of Erio is just wow, I just don't know what to say, but great ending to it. I'm still in shock and awe of this.

It was one of those days. The ones where I seriously wonder why I work so hard. My fingers were sore from typing so long and my eyes were heavy and hard to keep open. The report was almost finished and I struggled to get the last few lines done before saving it. I could proofread it tomorrow, or even get someone else to do it for that matter. Maybe one of my underlings... Teana needs more work anyway. As I moved my brown hair from my eyes, I sighed and pushed back to move my chair away from my desk. All I wanted now was to get home to Fate and fall into her arms.

The thought of the promised massage came back into my mind as I closed down everything for the night. I smoothed out my skirt before walking out of the door and into the hallways of section six. A few people saluted me along the way, which I just smiled sleepily at. I had a lot of new people training here now, so my paperwork had gotten larger than I was used to.

Walking into the cool summer night, I smiled at the stars above me and inhaled deeply. The next building came and I walked into it, robbing me of the pretty sky above. A quick elevator ride brought me to my floor and I couldn't help but jog lightly to my door. As it opened, I called out that I was home and saw my lover quickly look up and smile at me. "Welcome home," she spoke, her kind, soft voice making me melt as her arms circled around me. "I missed you, Hayate," she whispered into my ear before kissing my cheek. "Let me rub your back, Baby, you're so tense."

I kissed her and nodded gratefully.

Zafira looked up (or rather down) from his light paper work to the little girl trying to get his attention. With a small smile and he nodded down at Vivio, telling her to go on.

Vivio giggled and held out seven fingers reaching up as far into Zafira's face as she could. "I'm Seven!"

Zafira was confused or rather he was confused that Vivio seemed to be confused. While it was true they weren't exactly sure when she was "born" so to speak they had come to the conclusion that she was roughly six, not seven. But he decided arguing with a small child would not be the wisest or quickest endeavor. "Ah. I see."

Vivio broke out in very loud giggles, "No I'm not! April Fools!" She doubled over with laughter from her own "joke".

Unfortunately the well trained warrior couldn't stop himself from saying the first thought to pass through his head, "But... today is... the second... not... April Fools' day..."

The effect was immediate. The giggling ceased as Vivio proceeded to look up at him with big round eyes that were starting to tear up, "I-it's not..." She sniffled.

Zafira panicked on the inside, how exactly was he supposed to get out of this one. "I- er uh"

Vivio starting making the first tell tale sounds of crying.

"............ april fools."

She stopped immediately, her disposition returning to happy again. "That was a good one Zaffy~!"

Zafira sunk back into his chair with a sigh of relief. Crisis averted.

“Ne, Zaffy! Zaffy!” the bundle of infinite energy known as Vivio Takamachi rushed up to a
certain blue wolf, currently in human form. The guardian beast in question paused in his step,
turning around to face the girl.

“Hmm?” came his taciturn reply.

The child stopped a few feet away from him, mismatched eyes glittering in excitement. “Do the
banzai!”

“Ban…zai?” Zafira in turn had a confused look. What was Vivio going on about?

“Yeah! Banzai!” the girl had a huge smile, throwing her arms up into the air as if she were cheering.
“Like this!”

“Okay…?” the Guardian Beast was still confused but copied the movement as best he could,
bringing his arms up in emulation of the girl. “Like this?”

Why this so suddenly—!

Without warning, Vivio dashed in and hugged Zafira tightly around the waist, her head pressed
against his abdomen and her smile even bigger than before. Surprised as he was, the wolf merely
sighed and quietly chuckled, bringing one hand down to hug her back and the other to pet Vivio on
the head.

For a second or two, Zafira stayed still. He could not tell whether to resist the overwhelming emotion of bliss or submitted to it. Sure, he had been entrusted to the task of looking after Vivio, but did that mean he had the privilege to do whatever he wanted. Plus, he was a Guardian Beast, for Pete’s sake. Why would he disgrace himself over such trivial matter? Although with Vivio tightening her arms around his waist, he was unsure if he should resist the emotion or just succumb to it.

Finally he could no longer bear with it and rolled his eyes. There was a moment of bliss as he smiled and blushed to himself. “Kamisama, is this heaven?”

“Oh, ho? Looks like the blue wolf is enjoying the babysitting.” Snapped from his one-second fantasy Zafira turned to the source of the voice and saw Hayate, Signum, Vita and Shamal observing him from over the corner.

“Y-y-you guys were watching?!” Zafira shrieked, his furs standing erect as a result of his shocked reaction.

Hayate cackled deviously, even as a pair of raccoon ears appeared to be sprouting from her head. “Didn’t know Zafira is into babysitting. Bad wolf is bad. Trying to take advantage over the poor, innocent Vivio.”

“S… silence you. Never before in my life have I planned to- err…” Zafira snapped again. “Anyway, don’t you just look at me like I’m a paedophile or something!!”

“Ara, ara, Zafira-chan is obviously a river in Africa~” Shamal teased in singsong intonation. “Zafira-chan likes the company of Vivio-chan. Don’t be so shy about it, okay~”

“What’s with the suffix, Shamal?!” Zafira demanded.

“I pity you, Comrade Zafira,” Signum sighed.

“You aren’t even helping there,” Zafira grumbled.

“…che. Zafira, you suck,” Vita jeered.

Zafira stooped his head in defeat. “Just… just leave us alone, will you?”

I have a Thanksgiving fanfic called "TATAKAI! Abaremawaru no ShichiMENCHOU" that's on Fanfiction dealing with the Nanoha cast and turkeys. It's become a running gag of mine to include the feathery fellows whenever the situation calls for it, most specifically future cameos (as of now, they've made their second appearance in "RiOT DEViL").
