The writing has never been this series' strong suit, but wow.

And that's one of the reasons why the arc caused all that rage of manga readers. Believe me, it's just as badly-written in the manga too. Only, the manga executed the settings better than the anime did.

According to the lame character development we got, Rose now has a "rehabilitated" boyfriend that got over his sister complex by realizing that he can not abuse her anymore because she has herself "a sort of" boyfriend... OK, that's maybe a little bit too cynical of a summary, but that does not change the fact that the anime writer(s) (and hopefully only them) didn't care at all about exposing the psychology of their characters, but just use a controversial situation to draw attention. I hope the manga and derivative works take over this animated disaster and offer an interesting story, as has happened so many times before.

Mark my words, the manga did accomplish the task on exposing, delving, and exploring in depth Louise's complex on Satella. Moreover, the manga touched upon an important milestone on Satella's growth as a character. By facing and battling her own demons in the form of Louise, Satella was able to subdue her aphephobia and came to realize how just the people she came across and met at West Genetics became as important friends to her the same way she holds Kazuya dear to her.

The anime pretty much took a gumming tape and pasted it over that wound, telling the audience that once Satella stood her ground against Louise her aphephobia issue became instantly or magically solved. Furthermore, the Bali arc in the manga did not neglect at all Hollys' troubles about her secret feelings over Louise as well.

I could have gulped the eighth episode without them throwing in the Biblical references. Pretty much the writers are lecturing to the audience that Novas came to punish all of mankind, because mankind is at the low end in the evolution ladder. That, or let's get too literal with mankind through their insurmountable sins have become into a potential threat for the rest of the universe, and the Novas were thrown into the Earth in order to nuke them.

The tower in this case would be Ohara's team replicating and duplicating Marias' remains, and this possibly explains the WMD generator housed at the front door within the Alaska facilities.
