Did anybody see old ninja? A ninja being old means he is damn strong, a kage being old means he is godlike. These people usually die young, all the kage we know died at a young age except for Sarutobi, that's a clear indication of power. In fact the golden age of Konha was under him, that's when Konoha became the greatest village. Also look at Chiyo, as she said to Sasori, she has seen countless battles. Ans she was still alive while her opponents all dead. On the other hand this little Naruto vs Oro battle showed what unbeliveable power Kyuubi can have. The powerups are clearly not linear, the 4 tails being so strong, I cant really imagine how would Kishimoto depict a 9 tailed Kyuubi. And Yondaime was dealing with that. I already believed that Yondaime was the strongest and this fight is showing just that. Of course that's only my personal opinion, however the facts mostly say that Sandaime was the strongest. |

We have this: A statement by Iruka, referring to Sarutobi's reputation as "the strongest of all". Here's what I think "The strongest of all" is quite possibly referring to other Kage Leaders (Suna, Iwa, etc.). |

I think this entire arguement will be a mute point when the 6th Hokage comes around at the end of the series. Seriously, Naruto as Hokage with full control and use of all of Kyubi's chakra and power, there won't be a single ninja who could stand up to him.
And we all know that this will happen either when the series ends, or it will be set up to happen soon after. For now however, I'd have to say that of the Hokage, each is the strongest in their own way. The first had to be incredibly strong in order to have founded the village in the first place. The second was obviously powerful, or else Orochimaru would have never revived him to face of against the 3rd. Third was also obviously strong, he is said to know every technique in Konoha, and at an old age fought against Orochimaru, and the 1st and 2nd quite effectively. The 4th defeated and sealed Kyubi, a being said to have an unlimited supply of Chakra. The 3rd also feared his resurection above the 1st and 2nd when fighting Orochimaru, so that says something of the 4th. The 5th is powerful, but I wouldn't go as far as placing her as high as 1-4. She has nearly unmatched physical strength, a trait she's passing to Sakura. She's a medical ninja, with a regeneration technique, and I don't think we've seen her go completely all out yet. I still say the 6th will trump them all, unless they kill off Tsunade-sama before the series ends.

There is no reason to believe that Sandaime was stronger than Yondaime.
These are just dreams, wishes, speculation and biased thinking. Iruka said Sandaime was the strongest [compared to other village leaders]. No mention of his successor being weaker / stronger. - Last edited by Yellow Flash; 2006-02-26 at 06:02. |

You can't trust what it says on the covers because it's just hype. You know, when an anouncer introduces a fighter as they enter the ring.
eg. "Introducing Sandaime, known as the professor who has mastered billions of jutsu! The greatest shinobi that ever lived! Hokage twice! He is comepletely unrivalled when it comes to the art of battle! With the agility and cunning of a monkey, he's the best!" "Introducing Yondaime, former male prostitute." |

In the Yondaime cover, it says everyone is aiming for his level of strength, and in the chapter we see just that. |

Biaised thinking is what you do : ignoring or twisting everything you don't like instead of admitting that there is no truth here just more or less backed up opinions. Quote:
Just as Neji was said on the sidebare to be a shinobi without equal and not just an unique shinobi. The japanese sentence is quite clear and your "translation" doesn't make much sense in english either anyway. |

It is likely that Sandaime was known as the strongest, but in reality Yondaime was stronger. Hm. Isn't the Yondaime Hokage a secret in Konoha? Because he sealed the Kyuubi. Yes. So, Iruka is not allowed to talk about the secret mysterious Hokage. I think that's why he said the Third was the strongest (1st, 2nd, 3rd). - Last edited by Yellow Flash; 2006-02-26 at 11:08. |

I would add that in the end it will always be about reputation as the 3rd and the 4th didn't and will not fight against each others. Quote:

It isn't allowed to talk about Yondaime, Kyuubi or Yondaime's strength. That's why Sandaime, in the same chapter, thought about Yondaime, but he didn't say anything. The Yondaime Hokage was stronger than Sandaime, but this is a secret to most ninjas. So far only Anko, Jiraiya and Sandaime implied that they know about this. Quote:

Notice in the same chapter: Sandaime secretly thought about Yondaime, implying that the 4th was even greater. |

I seem to keep repeating this, but I guess if people actually took my advice there wouldn't be much to speculate on. PEOPLE IN "NARUTOVERSE" ALL HAVE OPIONS. shouldn't take this as a difinitive proff of anything. yeah Iruka said that Saratubi is the most powerful, but the way he said it is a way of praising him, and it's over exaggerated.
Plus making people say their opinions as characters is a very good way for Kishimoto to build up a story and not have to take full responsibilities as a writter if the statement is later WAY OFF! E+xam+ple "No one can achieve Mangekyu without being a blood Uchiha" -some where along those lines Oh look Kakashi has it!!!!! -enjoy |
