Or maybe Ai-chan could sense Matsumoto the whole time and was just playing along with Gin because he needed Gin to attack him, and he knew Gin wouldn't do it unless he thought Matsumoto was safe? Idk why you guys take anything Ai-chan says seriously. Kubo already made it clear that he can retcon anything Ai-chan says into a lie.

I would just ask why he didn't just name the spell something like "fake death", or "death feint"... at best i can only hope that white crawl is some kind of obsure japanese saying/term that i don't understand; in which case I could not really blame Kubo for not keeping the non-japanese audience in mind

I suppose it's like Dragonball Z, if you die you go to Heaven, but that does not grant you any kind of immunity. You can still die, and if you die again you fade away into nothingness.

Actually i think SS has a whole circle of life thing going on...
If you die, you get turned into spirit particles which eventually get reborn into the living world

I think that was part of Rukia's explanation for why they purify hollows and why Quincy's were potentially dangerous in how they destroyed hollows

I believe the whole system is quite complicated.

Human dies > turns into spirit.
Most spirits go to SS on their own.
Some get stuck for various reasons.
Those that are stuck are either eaten by hollows or turn into hollows
Shinigami "Purify" stuck spirits and help them reach SS.
Evil spirits may end up in hell.
Shinigami "kill" Hollows... They either go to SS or are immediately reborn in the living world. I forget.
Spirits in SS live out a normal life (or turn into shinigami)
when Spirits in SS die, they return to the living world.
When Shinigami die they turn into spirit particles...despite leaving a corpse behind.

Not sure how the whole royal/noble family bit works...I guess you'd have to be able to procreate as a spirit in SS.

It is a crazy system, but I guess it is understandable though, but there is a lot to remeber and there is all these other problems getting in the way like hollows eatting spirits and stuff. Gosh!

Ya that's not really explained clearly i don't think...
I would imagine that perhaps the spirits would get broken down into spirit particles while inside hollows, and when the hollow is purified the spirit particles get released as well and become part of the cycle again. And thus balance is maintained.

Granted, I don't really think Kubo thought some of this all the way through... i mean the whole problem with the quincies is that their methods did not purify hollows and from what we know being killed by a zanpactou is the only method of purification... However if this is the case then ANY method of killing aside from zanpactou should be forbidden. This would include such methods as Kido spells, Ishida's bow, Chad's punches, and Orihime's rejection... ofcourse SS for some reason ignores all this

It isn't completely clear and I never heard anyone say zanpaktou were the only way to purify hollow all we know is quincy bows don't purify hollow

I think Kubo made the system so complicated that no one will try to understand and thus no one will ask him about it because he doesnt understand either and thus he can retcon everything.
