Didn't think I'd watch this since I didn't think it had anything going for it as a cute girls in school premise, but once I got wind that it was something more I watched it... and now I'm hooked. Their aesthetic as magical girls just really pushes all the right buttons for me, from gigantic swords (Needs more WAGA ZANKANTOU NI TATENI MONO NASHI) to sniper rifles, and their outfits have this futuristic fantasy look to them that's just so pleasing to look at.

And Togo is completely awesome

The club president seems to be the best candidate for this

She even has the same color theme with Ma....oh wait! I shouldn't spoil that here

However, I wish they won't go in that direction completly...

There are too few factors to work with currently to kill off a major character this early. There's no real mystery here. Evil Monsters attack planet, the girls must beat them or bad things will happen. That's it at least for now.

In episode 1 of Madoka alone the viewer is introduced to upwards of nine characters both main and supporting. Not only this, but a deeper story is already hinted at outside of what's on the surface. From the jump a number of conflicts and mysteries are introduced. I get none of that from YuYuYu so far. It's entertaining, but painfully generic paint by numbers fair that has shown zero signs of being anything else. Unlike Madoka there's zero foreshadowing of a more complex story beyond what we've been shown.

That being said though because the story at this stage is so incredibly simple it can go in any number of directions at this point. It's ripe for evolution. I just hope more of the same isn't what the writers have decided to go with.

I don't think you really need foreshadowing simply to justify killing off a character in a show loaded with serious physical combat.

"People are getting involved in highly dangerous combat on a regular basis" leading into "somebody dies" is hardly unthinkable. Just because it's unconventional (without death flags) doesn't mean it doesn't make sense or came totally out of left-field in-canon. There's no need for there to be death flags to sort of prep the audience for a certain character dying. It can just happen, bang, done. The narrative/show can simply have them die in battle, period, end of story. Honestly, I wished that happened more often in action-packed anime (and action-packed fiction in general), so viewers would be less secure in the thought of "none of these protagonists will die". Fictional combat is much more interesting to watch when you're not very confident of what the outcome will be, and whether or not there will be any casualties.

All of the above being said, I'll be surprised if this show gets that dark. But if it does get that dark, then yeah, having the Club President die would make the most sense for a variety of reasons. It would probably be the most challenging death for the group to handle since she's the leader of the group who by far knows the most about everything that's going on. If the Club President dies, the rest of the group might be left "flying blind" for awhile, which could be very tense to watch.

I don't know why everyone's thinking the Prez'll go first. Wheechair girl seems the most expendable since she already seems too powerful for her own good (and her transformation is missing from the opening)

Tougo is very powerful at long-range, but she might be weaker at shorter-range, balancing out.

Also, I think they're building up strong yuri subtext between Yuna and Touga that I have a suspicion could become a center-point of the show. I don't think they're going to want to sacrifice that by having one or the other die anytime soon.

If the show gets darker, I wouldn't be surprised if Touga becomes more of a Dark Magical Girl. I'm not talking complete heel turn, but I could see her going against the rest of the club over a major disagreement.

Tougo is billed second. First and second billing rarely die. From third and on is where the real danger is. This is especially true for magical girl shows, as the girl who's billed second is usually the co-protagonist (Akemi Homura, Fate Testarossa, to name two examples of the top of my head). That's why there's this mystery vibe to her character: having three familiars, the memory loss, doesn't like to be called by her given name. There's a plot waiting to happen there, probably the main plot of the show even.

I think Tougo is too powerfull to be used as cheap sacrifice. She has better chances became final boss than dying midway.

Why the spoiler tag? Also, I doubt it. I don't see any of the girls becoming a bad guy, especially not Fu, who isn't even strong enough to make an interesting antagonist. I could see Shinju-sama revealed as the bad guy though. The girls would have to deal with the fact they were fighting for the wrong side. That could be interesting.

But this isn't Madoka. I don't think Yuuna's going to be the lone hero that solves the problem on her own. There are four heroes. They all will fight and solve the problem together. At least, that's the sort of show I want to see.

They mentioned that there are other groups of 'hero' ,so there is a chance that the conflict between different group will occur.

If anything, the plot twist maybe that the god they are protecting will turn out to be the evil and those monsters are actually the 'hero' that try to kill him to save the world.

As long as it doesn't take the Akame ga Kill! route (shock value over actual storytelling and plot progression IMO - haven't seen Majikoi so I can't comment on it), I would be ok with any development.

At best, I can only see Yuuki Yuuna going the same kind of drama as say, VividRed or Nanoha. I certainly can't see Yuuki Yuuna going into the same territory that Madoka did.

But the amount of drama and edgy stuff is mostly the same in both shows. I think that's what LoweGear meant.

Madoka's definitely more dramatic and darker.

So I just realized that I'm watching to "Magical Girl" shows this season: Yuuki Yuuna and Ore Twin. The latter is more super sentai/mecha musume than the former, but still they both involve female protagonists fighting monsters of the week and such.

However, in terms of characters I prefer Yuuna over Tailred for the following reasons:

1. Her first transformation is a Kamen Rider Kuuga shoutout.
2. She went into battle without hesitation and started kicking ass immediately.
3. She doesn't look quite as jailbait as Tailred.
4. Her outfit looks great without being blatantly fanservicey.
5. Yuuna is 100% female.

Lastly and most importantly,

6. Ponytails turn me on-

I could watch this solely for this. That was a really good partial transformation.

Yuuna sure just shoot up quite a few ranks in my list.
