The LotR manga is basically the series but with some crucial differences. If you're a Knightmare Frame fan, then be warned that there are no Frames in this one.
Spoiler for Euphy:
NoN puts Nunnally in the spotlight. It diverges more from the anime.

Okay, that's mainly just IMO since I've only read up to chapter 9 and have seen quite a few Kalulu scenes not translated. But basically it. Okay, NoN has Knightmares, Geass abilities that go beyond mind affecting, some really badass/kick ass characters, it is epic, has a muscular Zero, a twin brother for Lulu, A C.C. that isn't so lazy and isn't pizza obsessed, Mao is a girl now, Suzaku can sense Geass and is already Euphie's knight, new characters, and just overall epicness. There is A LOT of good things about this manga, but there is a few downsides too. The art is quite different for people and some people can't stand it even though it got an epic story. If your the kind of person who likes pairings and romance, don't read it cause romance is non-existant, Kalulu is non-existant, CluClu is non-existant, Shirlulu is non-existant. The only pairings that might actually exist are Suzaku X Euphie and possibly the incest one, Lelouch X Nunnally. Also, Nightmare Of Nunnally is an AU (Alternate Universe) Manga. A lot of things/characters are opposite of what they are originally. For Example: Lelouch/Zero is strong and doesn't use tactics, C.C. isn't lazy or pizza obsessed, C.C. is protecting Nunnally for some odd reason that I think is still unknown to us, Nunnally has an evil side that's full of hatred, Lelouch is more truthful to Nunnally, C.C. never contracted anyone so far that we know of besides Lulu, Lelouch's Geass is different, Suzaku's eye color is blue and......yeah, I'll stop there ._. Depending on your tastes (Love Fights/battles, Likes romance...) either one is good. NoN has more fighting/action and less to no romance, while LotR has less action, and has more development. Well, neither has anything to do with the main story but they are entaining none the less, NoN is completely different, while LotR is more or less a retelling with key differences. But if you have a lot of time on your hands, I say read both.

That's odd. I prefer the NoN art to the art in Lelouch of the Rebellion (I have a hard time calling it LotR....everytime I see that I think Lord of the Rings. LotR will always be that to me).
Is NoN licensed or what? I've hunted around and haven't seen any translated volumes for it out. If it's licensed then I don't want to bother buying the japanese volumes. But if it isn't then I'll probably head to Kino and just buy it there.

Okay, just making sure.
There's a really weird typo/mistranslation/whatever it is in the 2nd Vol. of the Lelouch of the Rebellion manga I have. - Chapter 8 : Welcoming Party for Arthur Shirley: Here you go. Kallen: Huh? Shirley: Today we're welcoming Arthur. So choose a cat outfit Kallen: Me too? Lelouch: Kallen doesn't need one. She's already wearing a cat. I was like "Lmao! XD Wtf? O.o" at the same time. What makes it slightly funnier is in Chapter 4, which is in the same volume, is that 15 or so pages into the chapter, Arthur is on Lulu's back like Lulu is wearing him like a back pack or something XD Just thought I'd share.

Cornelia is not in LoTR but she is in NoN. Euphie is capable. She has her own view and she don't need her sister to agree with her like how she ordered to intervene to stop Nunnally's execution in NoN despite Cornelia not doing anything due to her lack of power as a governor. In LoTR maybe yes since Cornelia is not around.

Are there any comprehensive chapter summaries for the LotR manga out there, and how far along is the manga right now? Right now the translations are up to Mao ambushing Shirley, with him apparently being the one to let her in on Zero's identity, entirely skipping Villetta's involvement. And all I know about R2 so far is that Charles only erased Lelouch's memories of the Geass and C. C., and that Suzaku's welcoming party is Halloween themed.
