I wonder if Hifumi's late because the breakfast was good, or she was enjoying Soujirou time?
Rendering NPCs. It seems this studio has a tradition of hand-rendering NPCs, so Hifumi and Yun treats it as nothing. The manga says both of them can render one a day, which to me sounds like woefully inadequate. Yun's monster specialty seems to be anime-only to me. As noted (in a less-than-subtle way), Kou's intention is to train Aoba, so I guess she's actually imposing her player-character standards. Although I wonder if any studio still hand-render at least a significant amount of NPCs these days? Not that I have any idea; I haven't played any significant amount of video game for a decade and half. Oh, by the way, the character renders that shows up a lot this episodes looks a lot like Tokuno's other series, Komorebi no Kuni ~le duche~.

It got me thinking that Kou is the only one who hand-renders NPCs in the modern day, so she's training Aoba to do it. I noticed that Aoba is the only one asides Kou to extensively use a drawing pad. The others probably had drawing pads, too, we just don't see them using theirs. Maybe she Kou sees Aoba as the one who will succeed her in the hand-rendering NPCs stuff. |

And they all are using it since episode one, except for Hajime. The first time you'll see a pad on her desk is in episode three. Spoiler for EP1 Yun & desks:
Spoiler for EP2 Hifumi:
Spoiler for EP3 Hajime:

One thing I liked about Shirobako was the effort put in to give each and every girl various outfits, to truly depict the working society they are in.
Although everything here has been pleasing to the eyes so far, everyone is wearing the same thing all the time, which slightly disappoints me. |

Um, Aoba's office wear look more like a high school uniform to me! Nevertheless, it's a good thing that Eagle Jump are so lax when it comes to attire. As long as you work, you don't get scolded for wearing something different... except when you're showing panties! |

Kinda curious but exactly what kind of technical skills do these game companies look for that they accept people straight outta high school? Is it more of the show's thing or does this actually happen in Japanese game devs?

As for everything else, let's leave it to someone more knowledgeable about the VG industry. |

I'm more amazed that she used Autodesk Maya for the first time and didn't run into any problems like all of her work disappearing and corrupted save files, or having an error only when she places the object in the position it needs to be but no errors in other areas. Or rendering problems because of too many polys. Maya doesn't break your stuff because you did something wrong, it breaks your stuff because it's Maya.

Considering that Japanese companies tend to hire you for life right out of school, it's likely that they don't expect her to be productive at the very beginning anyways so they don't mind training you. I guess as long as you have some modicum of talent, they will consider you.

Watched episode 1-3.
Suprised by this anime in a good way. First 2 episodes are more about intros, but third one got serious. Wondering how Aoba would develop friendly relations with the rest of the workplace. And I had a bit of laught whenever the cat shows up.

Episode 4
Paycheck week and we got girls talking about what they bought first? How interesting. But the part conversation between Rin and Kou got awkward about weight lol. That rage reaction didn't surprise me much either. So by the end, it looks like Aoba bought a cake. Yum, good choice. Comedy is still really fun even with the fan service for this show.

No no, definitely no ship-teasing here this week. Don't know what anyone's talking about.
Sounds like Aoba is still struggling to get her NPCs finished on schedule. Ganbare! Every step of the way you're learning things you need. Hmm... next week... looks like more office hijinks... and staying late? Hmmm... That happened after something that I found interesting in the manga. I wonder...
