That's good news, but I don't think sales are ever a consideration when it comes to anime such as these
The primary purpose of these show is the promote the Light Novels The difference is is that sometimes the staff are passionate about things, have enough time to produce something good and are not overworked. And thus, in turn produced an above average adaptation. I would like a sequel. I'd say the anime did a good job of promoting the LNs. But do they need a 2nd season since the mission is more or less accomplished? In the end it's the sponsor who makes the call.

However, if we see a volume 10 or 11 out of the author, another season of the anime looks more likely.

Ah, right. Somehow, I'd temporarily convinced myself that the Shalltear fight took place in volume four.

I just finished episode 4. The elephants in the room are out of control.
Dude, you're stuck in a video game gone real. Aren't you puzzled about how that happened? Don't you wonder if the npcs are real or just programming? Why are you acting as if you're a skeleton god? Don't you wonder if you'll ever go back to the real world? Aren't you worried you've had some sort of stroke and you're comatose on a hospital bed somewhere, having crazy hallucinations? I feel like a lot of Japanese authors think that just because something is fantasy you're allowed to throw coherence out the window. If you're suddenly stuck in a video game, even if you hated your real life, you'll still wonder every day what the fuck just happened. |

I wrote a long reply explaining things, but for some reason, it didn't post.
In short, the character has his views, which differs from yours. The questions are answered, and others are unnecessary. He is currently fact finding to get answers. He verified that he can feel and the NPCs are real. If he is comatose, then that is not a concern since he can't worry about things that are out of his control. He doesn't care about going back because this is better than his previous world. He is searching for others like him, and he needs to figure out what the world is like before he can even act on anything. His priority is to first make sure it is safe for him and what he cares about. His feelings are suppressed for being an undead. In essence, your questions are either answered or not relevant to the character at hand.

Being able to physically touch an NPC doesn't mean they're real. If you're in a virtual reality every sense you have can be manipulated. I'm not far into the story, you might know for a fact the NPCs are real but where I'm at there's no proof of that. I get that you like the show but you have to suspend your disbelief to make the most out of it. When something is well-written you don't have to, it's just coherent. |

First off, his emotions are currently flat, since he is undead. He can't freak out or panic. By finding clues in the world, he might find answers to why he is where he is. If he can't find that answer, it really wouldn't matter much to him because he likes where he is right now. You have to place the perspective and values of the character to understand the story. You cannot place your values on someone else (the character), and expect them to think the same way that you do. This is not SAO, so get any preconceptions you are placing out that is a reference to SAO. Technology from where he was from has virtual reality that is only visible. There is no sense of touch, smell, or taste with that technology for the game. When he was transported to this world, all the senses became available to him. In every sense of the word, this is now real to him. Also, his NPC's are no longer typical NPC's. They behave, feel, and react as living beings now, which is different from how they were previously. Besides, he doesn't need proof that they are real or not. For him, they are real in every sense, and he will treat them as real. There is no reason for him to treat them as if they are not real, and he is not going to risk losing them by doing something stupid. They are his closest allies right now in this strange world. In any fantasy, you have to suspend your disbelief. However, what you consider as logical from your perspective is actually inconsistent and illogical with the personality and character that is in this show. This story is very well-written. You're just choosing to ignore what is presented, and you are placing yourself in the story, not the current character as written.

Finished it just the other day. Good but unsatisfying, needed another 13 episodes or so to really get under way. Season 1 was just laying the groundwork for what Momonga really wants to do, now I want to see him actually do it. Season 2 when?
