Yeah, from the reviews I've read, people explicitly mention this scene (and the flashback) being removed.

WHAT! No Ilya/Beserker? That kills almost all of Ilya's role in the movie, and pretty much the only clue you have as to why she loves Beserker so much. Movie had dragon equivalent, so it's "okay" in my book, but nothing better. I'll have to see it myself to see if it's any worse, doubt it'll be better.

Really wish I could see the movie. UBW was my favorite scenario. How were the battles in this? Were they epic and really well done? I felt like the anime didn't do the battles justice sometimes.

I'm glad they took out Ilya's flashback in the movie. As nice as it was [one of the best scenes the VN, in my opinion], we're still talking about a 90 minute movie. Even if it could be short, it would not only disrupt the pacing of the movie [which was fine in a huge VN, where the pacing was drawn out anyway and the players could go as fast as they liked], but it would also be a weird perspective shift, as most of the scenes in UBW were either told from the main characters' perspectives [Rin, Shirou, and Archer] or stood away from a perspective and used to further the plot.

As nice as Ilya and that scene is, I'm expecting a well-told cinematic story, and it wouldn't fit especially with the fast pacing that jellopy mentioned.

While it sounds like they removed some rather great aspects to make up for the runtime of the film (which is to be expected) from what I've read and seen (screenshots) it seems like they have enough to satisfy my Fate/Stay Night fanboyism and it is done well enough for its runtime. Of course I have to wait till I actually see it before I can say if it is truly good or not, but I'm optimistic.

Sure does. The one part i've not been worried about regarding this film is the visuals, i mean especially after what we seen in the official PV. But wow those screenshots. UBW is going to look mighty fine on blu-ray.

It's usually six months, though that's not always certain.

Kinda hard to calm down right now, but the completion rate is pretty high. Really want to say, this is how the TV version should've been like. Even though many people have different thoughts about the short length, but you definitely won't feel it's just "summary version". Especially from middle to the end, the presentation feel very adequate. Music and sound effects are worthy of praise. Especially the music, totally speechless. The animation is definitely on par with the music, also very exemplar. About the plot, even though lots got cut, but the edits didn't feel excessive. Even though I played the game long ago, but I understood it completely just from the basic knowledge. Probably dumped a lot of money for this. Theatrical version's targeted audiences are to those people who already watched the TV version. It takes 5~10 minutes to reach the Berserker scene. I feel that this is a bold gesture. Berserker's battle is pretty insane. Berserker also gives off a pretty overwhelming impression. Basically all the male casts are pretty cool. Archer and Shirou are both awesome, Lancer's scene is tearjerking Shirou's chant is in English, but compare to the video on nico, the pronunciation is even more accurate, there's also an echoing effect, very worthy of praise here. Are the weapons in the end enough ? PS2 version just mention it briefly, but the theatrical version's GARness even gets your soul boiling * Archer vs Shirou vs Gilgamesh's battle is so awesome that I'm speechless. Such GARness made me feel that there will not be a more exciting sword battle in 2010's animation scene. Length really is too short, especially to people who already know about Fate. But the hotblooded battle will help further the hype the popularity of the movie to a very high level. If you like Fate, it is definitely worthy of seeing this. The minor details on rules, and the explanation on magic are all edited out, therefore before watching the theatrical version, have to at least finish watching the TV version.
