true dat... but Cecilia cannot compare to the great artist. A queen cannot match an empress
It's mostly the depiction. You'd think she'd be queen like but you get an overcompensating idiot. It's new and somewhat fresh but the lack of dignity just rubs me the wrong way. It comes off as more insulting for me personally. |

But from the way Cecilia is set-up it's hard to expect otherwise. Awkward dojikko ojou-sama rarely works for me if the level of absurdity is beyond human comprehension. She doesn't really seem to carry herself with dignity/pride and even if she does it feels more like arrogance, case in point Louise from Zero no Tsukaima.
The ojou-sama dojikko moe fits more with characters like Shirahoshi, even Tessa from FMP counts despite being a nice girl overall. |

It's 1/4 harem plot, 1/4 romcom idiot plot, 1/8 mecha joustings and 1/8 aborted plot and character development. And I love it that way.

The mecha themselves are interesting, characters are interesting when they aren't idiot, and from what I can get, Izuru is a good author when he didn't slacking of or forget important plot point.
There's so many branch and character subplot that I.S. will turn into a literal epic if pulled well. Izuru didn't threw hints and clues, he spill a basket full of chekhovs material all over the novel, every time.

I like rocom but I deal more in rocom that has some form of wit to it. Even when absurd you see some sense of being clever whether in aesthetics or plugging into the pop culture that may or may not be part of the audience. Here it's just full blown, here, in your face. If I had to use a word I heard tossed around a lot during a video about writing a story for videogames. Cecilia's depiction lacks "elegance". The way she's written feels forced to a certain extent and personally unappealing for me.
Most harem shows have this which is why I avoid them like the plague but IS I only stayed for the mecha. |

What sort of reasons ?

Wait wait, Cecilia seems force to you but all the other girls are natural ? Something smells off here... The writer didn't exactly change... And he'll be sure to pander to the harem fans.

I cited Cecilia but the issues I speak of aren't isolated to her. Charlotte for one is a big victim/offender of the forced inelegant application of harem uirks. From pure and innocent she gets the smile of death. Which actually is pretty cool. But when she starts contemplating whether it's better to shove a grenade down a man's throat or forcing it into their pocket before shoving them off... Kinda a bit overboard ye?
