I’m not exactly shocked that soma lost against him; he did defeat jouichirou, who’s never lost against soma. Although, I expected more background information/chapters of him before he took on jouichirou, and even soma.

It’s interesting to see what’ll happen next, since soma at the moment clearly isn’t anywhere as strong as him.

In terms of shipping, no love for soma’s classmate (the one with short brown hair), eh

I hate NTR. So I really hope it doesn't work. And besides, this arc is probably just to get Erina and Soma closer.

People nowadays seem to be so desperate for creative and unexpected twists on characters or shippings they dislike or feel they have no right to stay the way they are in the story that they go on hoping for the nastiest situations to befall said characters or shippings.
I can only say I dislike such mindset, since I have no right to force others to stop hoping for such things. And I also care little about shippings.

Hisako would follow Erina anywhere. If Asahi gets Erina, he gets Hisako as well.

Anyway, it's obvious Erina will end up with Soma. This arc will just be accelerating the process. In the meantime, there'll probably be plenty of NTR-like situations. I expect Erina to slap him next week and then blush as soon as she's all alone thinking he was the first person who princess carried her.

yeah i do feel this arc will be the arc to make souma finally stop being a "rock brick of shounen "dense" MC and finally understood what his father told to him about "cooking for the person he loves" this guy will be the one to trigger souma to finally feel jelly toward erina but i do also feel which he probably will think whch is just about "his chief pride being hurt rater than his feelings, because this is how ultra dense mc he is and so focused on "cooking" and battle and shoukugeki.

Many times i really doubt if souma will really learn about what his father tried to teach him, because of his hard rock/steel battle shounen mc dense mindset.

If anything this arc must be about he finally start to "learn even if a little about it".

Actually, Jouichirou never got to tell Soma that he has to find a woman he's willing to cook all of the best dishes in the world for (which is what he said, not "cooking for the person he loves") because Soma hung up as soon as Jouichirou said "I'm going to tell you the secret to becoming a great chef". After Soma hung up, Jouichirou told that secret to us. Soma didn't hear it. My guess is that Asahi will be the one to teach him about it now. Whether directly or indirectly.

Well Azami still is, I don't know.

Erina to be just carried like that.
It's like they have been drugged.
Souma, his condition became worse just because he tasted better food than his own.
And he was not happy, not because of stomach ache, not eating too much, and definitely not that it tasted that bad for him to trip like that.
Food is food, but I guess better cooked food is the better cooked food.

From what I see, I don't think Asahi would join Azami at the time back then, and now actually his actions officially just made Azami his enemy.
I mean where is Azami?
At this rate Asahi might be able to succeed that Azami could not.

The author is trying to sell the fact that Asahi's food is so good, anyone who eats it will be literally blown away. That's also what happened to Jouichirou, if you recall (@Rladis). And it also makes the person weaker and unable to stand back up for a while. Normally. Soma could do it, though. The reason Soma wants a rematch is because he noticed that the knife Asahi uses is the same one Jouichirou uses/used.

If Azami tries to ship Soma and Erina when he comes back, it'll make my day.
