@Satashi: If you're not willing to expand on Come Home, perhaps you'd be willing to start another fic based around the same idea? Like I said, I really liked the idea you had going there. The long term physical distance between the two coming to an end and Fate and Nanoha finally able to be together again after so long apart. Just the awkwardness that would be present with having to get to know each other again, get comfortable in each others presence again, after so long would be enough to write at least a decent sized one-shot about I would think. Although if you don't feel up to it I understand.

@Everyone Else: Thank you for the warm welcome and I look forward to talking with all of you.

“It's right,” The Azure Flame walked forward slowly. “You're on a mission remember?”

“Mis...mission...?” Nanoha shook her head, clawing at her hair as her transformation was completed.

“We were sent to terminate The Terror of Death, remember? For the crime of slaughtering thousands.”

“Kill....The Terror of Death...?” Nanoha's hand twitched, voice losing it's emotional tone. “That's right... the TSAB sent us...I remember now.”

Kite smiled. “I'm wounded, I can no longer fight.”

“I'll handle this.” Nanoha looked up, eyes flickering as she gripped her fist, turning towards the group that was too shocked to act. “Fate Testarossa... I'm here for you.”

“Na... Nanoha...?” Fate took a step back. “Wai...wait...”

Nanoha frowned. “Wait!? Did you wait when you killed those people!? When you slaughtered them!?”

Yuuno put up a shield just in time to block an attack. “She's brain washed!”

“Stop this!” Fate ran forward, only to be backhanded to the ground and pounced on.

“I'll avenge them all!” Nanoha raised her clawed hand to strike Fate's chest. “I'll kill you myself!”

The Lieutenant Colonel had listened calmly while I tried to give him an explanation regarding my absence from the exam. Sitting in the chair beside my bed with elbows on his knees and fingers interlaced before his face, he had listened without interruption until the end of my story. His eyes were staring at the wall after I finished speaking, and not at me, though I could swear that I saw that they had held a faint light in them, as though of understanding. He sighed and closed his eyes. When he reopened them they were firm again.

“I see. It is a lamentable tale, and one that I too am saddened by, though I must call into question your actions thereafter. It is not appropriate for one who deals within or is aiming for Magical Enforcement to be so easily moved by their heart. Ones judgement is reinforced by reason, and distracted by feelings; you must always remember that, Second Lieutenant. The responsibilities of an Enforcer are pivotal to the safety of the citizens not only here on Mid-Childa, but to each of her jurisdictions, and possibly even beyond. Had this trivial occurrence appropriated itself during one of your missions, the repercussions of your actions could very well have proven detrimental to us all.” He sighed again, and abruptly pushed himself up off the chair. “Second Lieutenant Harlaown, you will receive a final verdict regarding your examination at a later date after revision of your evidence.” And then he left.

Annnd my first foray to Fanfic, the Director's Cut of my first ever OFM fanfic, detailing the "befriending" of Franz Jaeger by Nanoha.

Riot Force 6 Mess Hall
Outskirts of Cranagan City, Mid-Childa


Ah, lunchtime. A time much looked-forward to by the Forwards of Riot Force 6; Lunch was the break they got after spending a morning of PT and getting their collective asses kicked by Nanoha Takamachi. The latter was seated with them today in RF6's mess hall, eating lunch with her students, a rare occasion, and regaling them with some of the stories of her past exploits. Subaru hung off every word of her idol, Teana listened with rapt attention, and Caro and Erio were enthralled by Nanoha's stories.

The White Devil had just finished one story, took a sip from her drink, and was about to launch into another when she was interrupted by a casual, familliar voice: "Yo, Beamspam-chan. It's been a while, hasn't it?"

"Franz-kun!" she exclaimed, rising out of her chair with a smile on her face, hugging the man who'd appeared by the table. He was a bit taller than Nanoha, with black hair combed neatly to the side, wearing dark-tinted sunglasses and the Dress Blues of an officer assigned to the TSAB Navy, and he wore a strange rank insignia on his collar and a unit patch on his left arm, though his shoulder rank insignia was identical to the TSAB Ground Forces, proclaiming him to be a 2nd Lieutenant. He appeared to be in his late twenties to early thirties, moving with the grace of an experienced combat veteran, and appeared totally at ease with Nanoha, laughing and talking to her softly in a language that none at the table spoke fluently (though Subaru could recognise it as Japanese, her ancestral language) before he switched to a tongue they all could recognise.

"The one and only, Beamspam-chan... I mean, Captain Takamachi," he grinned. "2nd Lieutenant Franz Jaeger at your service, Ma'am."

"Oh, sit down, Franz-kun," laughed Nanoha. "We're all friends here. Everyone, this is Franz Jaeger, of the Order of Freelance Mages, an old friend of us Captains and the Commander. You're still the Ground Platoon Leader?"

"Yep," nodded Franz. "We just got back from another offplanet deployment, we're starting our rest/refit cycle. The Colonel sent me over to pass some stuff to Hayate-chan and to also look you up and see if you'd be interested me and my boys spicing up your training. We've heard good things about your kids, and well... Glen and the Colonel are always on the lookout for a few good mages. Even as far away as we are, we've heard about you guys, though I believe this is the first time we've been introduced?"

The nods he received affirmed his guess, and Nanoha handled the introductions deftly, and Franz spent a few minutes getting to know the Forwards, until Subaru breached the inevitable question: "Just how do you know Nanoha-taichou, Sir?"

"hmmmm...." murmured Franz thoughtfully, stroking his chin. "That depends. I'd first heard of her about... yeah, ten years ago; Beamspam-chan here was considered one of the best prodigies ever discovered, and her assistance to the Athra and Admiral Lindy Harlaown... you may not know much about our unit, since we tend to keep a low profile and we're always running all over the place, but we've got close ties to Admiral Harlaown, and she's tended to request assistance from us when possible, though we were on a deployment and couldn't meet up with her until after the whole Precia Testarossa incident was over. But meeting face to face... it was five years ago, wasn't it, Nanoha?"

"You were such a fanboy," chuckled Nanoha. "When he first saw us, his first words were 'See? See?! I told you they existed!' It gave me a shock to see a grown man come up to three teenagers and almost worship them."

"Oh, I stopped the worship after that day," said Franz wryly. "Shall we tell them about it?"

"Sure, why not?"

"Okay, pay attention, kids. It was some time after we'd all gotten to know each other and become friends. The Order was in another rest/refit cycle, and we managed to get everyone's schedules synchronised, so we had a sorta picnic/powermeeting day; the Volkenritter were hanging out with some of our guys, Glen and Emili were talking to Fate about something, the Colonel and Hayate were discussing something important, probably her Riot Force 6 concept, and out of sheer damn boredom, I suggested to Beamspam-chan here that we do a one on one. Now, I'd been ranked A+ for a while, and was settling into my position and rank, and I wanted to see how I matched up against the famous Nanoha, the girl who mows down enemy like a firehose puting out fires..."

Training Ground 4A, Mid-Childa


"So he actually challenged Nanoha to a duel and she agreed?" asked Emili, curious. "This is interesting... I bet he'll last 3 minutes."

"Bruder should be able to last 4 minutes..." began Naomi Jaeger hesitantly. She adored her older brother, and thought the world of him... but then, Nanoha was worlds apart from Franz in terms of skill and power.

"4 minutes 30 seconds, no longer. In five minutes, this will be all over," predicted Glen, as he watched the two combatants get ready. Everyone had wrangled transport or flown themselves to the nearest set of TSAB proving grounds, which Nanoha had appropriated using her Instructor Corps authority; now both she and Franz were ready, both in their barrier jackets, their devices out in hand: Raging Heart in Nanoha's left hand, Cortana, the Katana Device, in Franz's right hand. Fate raised a bullhorn to her mouth, and gave the signal: "Three, two, one, GO!"

Within the first ten seconds, Nanoha could see that Franz's combat style was based on fast attacks with a bent to slashes; he charged forward, bringing his sword in a sideways slash, a move that Nanoha sidestepped and evaded, bringing Raging Heart to block his followup slash, before catching Raging Heart under his downwards slash and striking forward, attempting to skewer him. The Erusian mage jumped back and to the side, his sword raised in a guard, as Nanoha leapt up and loaded a cartridge.

[Accel Shooter.]

"Oh hell," muttered Franze, as ten orbs of magenta light flew towards him; the Erusian cursed and jumped up, hopping from floor of ruined building to floor of ruinined building, either evading each shot or catching it and deflecting it with his blade, putting on a boost of speed and energy that saw him shoot up, higher than Nanoha... and saw him descend just as fast, Cortana arched for a piercing thrust.

"Gatotsu!" he called, lightning energy flowing through his blade as he brought it down at Nanoha, who lifted her free hand and murmured an incantation, as Round Shield appeared; she caught the blade on her shield. Nanoha wasn't considered one of the best Agressors for nothing; as she caught the blade on her shield, she twisted and turned, allowing Franz's momentum to push her out of the way and leave him with no resistance, falling to the ground. She pointed Raging Heart at him and loaded two cartridges, preparing to fire Divine Buster...

As Franz fell, Cortana shifted forms, changing from a katana into a form resembling a bolt-action rifle; entering Rifle Form allowed it to use shooting spells, such as Plasma Lancer, Lightning Breaker... and Divine Buster. Cortana had one weakness; unlike other mixed Mid-Childan/Belkan-style devices, it used a bolt-action system to load cartridges, so as he fell, Franz had to manually chamber his weapon; yet he did it with time to spare, and it was debatable who was the most surprised as both he and Nanoha simultaneously called out "Divine BUSTER!" and fired beams of magical energy at each other.... though Nanoha's beam was larger than Franz's...

Present Day, Riot Force 6 Cafeteria

"So that's why you weren't surprised when Subaru copied your Divine Buster," mused Teana thoughtfully, looking shrewdly at Nanoha and Franz. "It had already been copied."

"That's right," smiled Nanoha. "Franz-kun and Colonel von Long were the first people to copy Divine Buster... although they DID ask permission first," she continued, smiling reasurringly at an embarrassed Subaru, who looked as if she wanted to sink into the floor and die. "Well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It wasn't as powerful though..."

"I don't call you 'Beamspam-chan' for nothin'," shrugged Franz. "Now, that was the first time I'd used Divine Buster outside of the firing range, and lemme tell you, the feeling of firing it for real as compared ta on the range... it was totally different experience.

"Now, I could finally see the true difference in our power: this was just a few months after the airport fire, so Beamspam-chan was already S+, while I'd just made A+ around six months prior, so the result was obvious. There was no way in hell I could touch her; all my Divine Buster did was absorb and retard some of Beamspam-chan's fire, but not much, so I whipped out Panzerschild and called upon my hot blood..."

Four Years ago

"Nanoha will win."

Vita spoke with such assurance and confidence, she could have swayed anyone to her thinking, even with such a simple statement. As it stood though, about the only person who thought Franz had a snowball's chance in hell of beating Nanoha was, well, Franz. The only real question was how long he'd last.

"I still say he'll lose in 3 minutes. That's my wager."

"4 minutes and 30 seconds, liebchen," retorted Glen. "One must be precise in one's target selection. He'll last no longer than that. Speaking of which, what does the loser owe the winner?" His eyebrows raised fractionally as Emili whispered in his ear, and the look he turned on her spoke volumes; Emili matched his gaze and smiled coyly, and Glen smiled internally as well. Regardless of who wins, it's a win-win situation, he thought, pleased.

11-year-old Naomi was upset that nobody was supporting her brother...but...well... it was true that Nanoha-oneechan was so much cooler than Franz.

"He never learns," sighed Signum, shaking her head. "Though I knew that already..."

Franz had fared no better against Signum, either, in an earlier spar several months ago.

"It's the biggest joke in the Order," muttered Glen sourly. "Seven years ago, Erick tells me to "finish his training." Seven years later, and he still isn't done. My life is a cartoon."

"Oh, shut up, baka," laughed Emili, and she kissed him.

"...guess it's not all bad, though," mused Glen, when he finally came up for air.

* * * * *

As he fell to the ground, his sword and Panzerschild deployed pretectively before him, Franz's mind raced through his options, the hot blood in his veins giving priority to the most destructive plans, until it found one that might work...

"Cortana, Sonic Move!"

[Da, Comrade.]

Franz flickered away from Nanoha's Divine Buster, barely missing the giant pink beam; throwing himself against another ruined building, skidding down along the outer wall...

[Burst Jump.]

Powered by magic, he jumped up and away, heading right towards Nanoha, Cortana shifting into katana form; he chambered another two cartridges and yelled his incantation: "PLASMA LANCER, FIRE!" Eight glowing arrows shot forward towards Nanoha; Franz began praying to Guinness that they'd hit...

And snarled as Nanoha calmly evaded all eight arrows with the briefests of movements and a smile on her face. The arrows retargeted and charged Nanoha, as he ordered "Blitz Rush,"... and cursed as Nanoha's Accel Shooter shot down all his arrows.

Franz had forgotten that Nanoha was Fate's best friend... and thus knew the counters to all her friend's attacks. Attacks which he had copied. (Albeit with permission, but still copied.)

"Don't underestimate me!" he roared. "I didn't get where I am by sitting on my ass! I'll show you the golden path of battle that all great men travel! Heaven or Earth, it makes no difference! The purity of my heart gives me the strength of ten men!"

"Not your Device?" called Nanoha teasingly.

"...uh, well, that too," admitted Franz, murmuring "Deflection", his blade glowed yellow and he brought up his sword to guard against Nanoha's Accel Shooter, deflecting magenta energy orbs, as his left hand snaked towards the black pistol in the holster on his belt. He flew through the air, coming closer and closer...

"Barrett Shot!"

His hand lifted the Pistol Device and it automatically chambered a cartridge; focusing magic at the barrel exit, Franz focused and squeezed the trigger. The hammer came down and fired the cartridge; the slide rocked back, ejecting the empty shell casing, as the compressed magical energy flowed through the barrel into the ball of magic at the exit, giving the spell the energy it needed; like a shot of NOS to an engine. 4 magical shots rang out, as Jack past Nanoha and squeezed the trigger again, firing another four-shot spell at her; as he reached the apex of his jump and began falling, he looked down...

To see Nanoha deflecting all 8 shots off Round Shield, and point Raging Heart at him.

"Magnum Shot!" he called, squeezing his trigger, firing single shots at Nanoha, who paused her attack to form a smaller shield, catching and deflecting his shots. Magnum Shot was similar to Barrett Shot, but instead of firing a 4-round burst, poured all its power into a single shot, which gave it A+-rank power, but also gave it strong recoil, which was strong enough to push Franz back and slow his fall; he stowed his pistol and frantically loaded a pair of cartridges into Cortana, chambering cartridges as he came closer and closer, as Nanoha casted Active Guard, slowing him down further as she prepared her attack.

Which was when Franz finished loading cartridges and began his speech.

"Don't underestimate me! This is the golden path of battle that all great men travel! The Magma of my heart! My Young Blood on FIRE! Who do you think I am?! GIGA! DRILL! BREAKEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

* * * * *

Glen facepalmed, his free hand twitching, as Emili sighed and patted his shoulder, and Naomi hid behind Emili, her face beet red. Fate and the Volkenritter looked at themselves, Franz, and then at Glen, who raised a hand.

"Don't. Ask."

* * * * *

Nanoha blinked and dropped her attack, as Raging Heart chanted Protection Powered, catching the giant energy drill that glowed and pulsed madly; sparks flew as the giant drill tried to drill into her barrier, and Franz had a wildly triumphant look on his face, a look of "I have you now"...

Before Nanoha smiled sweetly at him.

[Barrier Burst.], spoke Raging Heart sweetly... sounding especially pleased with herself.

"Fu-"

* * * * *

Barrier Burst operated on similar principles to the reactive armor used on Earth and Erusia: a controlled detonation that threw the explosive force outwards, flinging the attacker away. The results were even more spectacular becase Franz's Giga Drill Breaker was an energy drill, and had partially "drilled" through the explosion of magic before being flung away... which meant that he had caught parts of the blast right in his face. The force was enough to stun him, and he fell from the sky; fortunately, it was only a hundred feet or so, and Nanoha was kind enough to break his fall... by using a dozen Accel Shooter projectiles to hit him as he fell, coming up and slowing his fall.

The Erusian mage landed in a crumpled heap on the rubble, and for a moment, appeared still.

"Three minutes and 55 seconds," said Emili. "I guess neither of us win..."

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!" roared Franz suddenly, dragging himself upwards, fumbling painfully for Cortana, which lay a few feet away. His left eye was swollen shut, and blood caked his forehead and fingers, and he had to squint his right eye painfully to see through the blood. "Cortana may be gone from my hands, but I am undefeated! My back is bowed, but my head is held high! So long as this heart beats, I shall never surrender!" He raised his pistol, chambering a cartridge. "Plasma La-"

[Divine Buster, Extension.]

That was when Nanoha's final Divine Buster slammed into him, before he could even raise a shield. When the beam faded, Franz took a step, and fell face-forward.

"Winner, Nanoha!" announced Fate, and Emili checked her watch, smiling at Glen. "Four minutes and thirty seconds. You were right. Well, I guess I'd better take Naomi and go check on him."

"Ja," agreed Glen, as she picked up Franz's sister and flew off to the unmoving mage, as the others slowly made their way to him. Emili landed in a crouch in front of Franz, depositing Naomi and leaning over him.

There was one quirk that Emili had; her TSAB Blues uniform sported a skirt that was shorter than regulation (almost a miniskirt, in fact), with a slit that ran higher than usual. Why was this important?

Franz was rolled onto his back, and his eye blearily tracked up, moving past her boots to her white thigh socks, further up...

"A flash of blue," he murmured. "An azure cloud set against the milky sky..."

Emili gasped, her face flushing, and immediately reacted, kicking Franz into the air with a spin kick, shouting "ERASE IT FROM YOUR MIND!" and landing a 12-hit combo as he fell down and tumbled to slam into yet another piece of rubble.

"Bruder!" exclaimed Naomi excitedly. "Compared to Nanoha-neechan's Divine Buster, which hurts more?"

"Can't you ask me about something else?" groaned Franz miserably. "Goddamn mages have antisniper hax. God damn you, Beamspam."

Present Day, Riot Force 6 Cafeteria

"And that, kids, is the day I stopped thinking of Takamachi Nanoha as my idol and my hero... and began to think of her as my friend," smiled Franz. "Friendship through superior firepower..."

"I should have known you were here, Franz," murmured a quiet voice, and he stiffened, his eyes wide, sweat sliding down the side of his face, an Oh shit expression on his face. "Uh, hi, Sir."

Glen Schattenmann looked coldly at his apprentice and subordinate, and when he spoke, his tone was as cold as ice. "You. Paperwork. Now."

"My apologies, Ladies and gent, but I gotta run," said Franz. "Good luck to all of you. See ya, Beamspam-chan. Sir, about this, I can-"

"Now, Leytenant."

"Yessir," replied Franz, who fled; none of the Forwards could find it in their hearts to blame him. Glen stared after him, before turning to the table and inclining his head. "Pardon me," he murmured, and swept away.

Nanoha shook her head and chuckled fondly. "Some things will never change..."

Fate's hand once again took hers, interlacing their fingers as she gently started urging Nanoha to lean back on the bed. Cool sheets soothed her burning skin, pillows cushioning and caressing her hair as the blonde's locks fell over her shoulder. Again soft lips pressed against hers, tongue moving slowly into her mouth. The taste came again, matched with the smooth slow motion of their tongues touching each other's. Mouths slightly open, the lovers breathed each other's air as they revealed in the feelings pounding in their chest, the shocking touches, and trailing fingertips. Fate pulled back softly, kissing Nanoha once more and touching their tongues lovingly before resting their foreheads together and looking into each other's eyes.

Anyways, I decided to start posting for 2 reasons. One is to possibly get to know the writers of my favorite fan fictions a little better and see how they think. Maybe see how they come up with some of these AU scenarios yet still keep characters believable and true their canon selves.

I think I'll be saying first to this even that I have no idea if I have kept them canon enough and I haven't even dragged the forwards to the story But by the time that happens, (A week or so) this small post will be lost in the hurling pages.

The AU I'm writing now is, like I already told, a result of my rambling mind. Every second, it processed it over and over, creating swarms of scenarios, characters and approx 400k word story. (Yes I have about every bit already created waiting for writing. I'm going to start the second part once I get some more feedback.)

The reason I started to write was to stop that processing. It's very, and I mean VERY, distracting. It's harming my school process and thus I decided to write it all down so my brain didn't have a reason to continue it. (Yes, I talk like my brain was a different entity )

I just let my fingers flow and that's the text it came out with. I, myself, have very little to do with it; it's all done by that small part of my brains that's not under my control. (Strange, eh?)

Alright and now for today's scenarios. But first, one very important segment of

Today we are going to take one very important factor under closer look.

It is pointless additions.

Some of you might have already thought: 'Why is that there? Only to take pages?'

Let me tell you this. Why would I write about pointless things? They add nothing and only take space.
Hayate into cosplay? Would you believe that it actually is going to have significant part in development of two characters? (And no they're definetly not who you think they are)
Syrup? That, too, is going to develop two characters. (I bet it isn't surprising which two )
Heck even two characters walking past each other without actually talking to each other is going to have a significance at one point.
When one of the major secrets for part two is going to start, you will have no idea it has even started as it will really be pointless at that point.

Hopefully this little segment makes you consider the pointless addition in the next scenario a bit more carefully. It's not there to create action. It's there to give information.
What this information is, will be a secret for those that figure it out. (Or to those who ask about it.)

”What were the odds?!” Nanoha cursed her back against crumbled wall holding her Raising Heart in staff form.

”Tell me about it.” Fate agreed next to her.

Fate peered to see what was happening behind the wall, she saw a mass of drones attacking the museum. AMF was running strongly keeping all connections down making it impossible to contact anybody to remove the limiters not that it would matter as the AMF would nullify the benefits from it. She counted around 30 small, 5 big and 4 AMF drones.

”Forwards create team B, I and Fate will make team A.” Saying this they heard a large explosion from the museum entrance. ”It's refreshing to shuffle.” The brunette reasoned and jumped over the wall followed closely by her partner Fate.

”Roger.” The forwards saluted and quickly followed the two Aces who were already taken out 4 drones under powerful AMF.

Museum was swarming with drones. Miraculously no artifacts had been broken by the attack, only the reception was in ruins by the previous explosion.

”Wait up.” Caro tried to keep up with her team mates. She was in charge of holding Aren and thus very exhausted. Too exhausted to be exact.

”Let me carry the watch for a moment.” Erio offered. ”Tia-san, Subaru-san, mind fighting for us? We can't propably cast any spells.”

[Oh no, don't do that for me. Leave me here and pick me up when you're done.] Aren begged the red haired boy. He was already feeling bad at letting a small girl be his battery.

”But you can't be recharge with magic energy if your power falls to zero, right?”

He was right. If he had no source of power he had to enter sleep state, opening his lid and only waking up by mind drain, which nobody volunteered to do, not to mention that he ran out fast.

[Well the situation isn't that grim so I guess...] Aren subdued to Erio who was covering Caro from yet another dust cloud created by explosion.

”Hey, watch it you tin can!” Subaru shouted catching a falling cup from its platform. They we're ordered not to create large scale destruction in the museum.

”Respect my authority!” Teana shot at the drones but the strong AMF nullified them before they hit the target. ”Damn! Subaru destroy that AMF drone!” She ordered as the leader of forwards.

”Righty boss.” And she accelerated with her rollerblades, jumped and smashed the drone in one hit. ”These drones are dumber then what we usually face.” She questioned the fact how easily the drone got hit.

”I don't think they we're expecting resistance.” Teana said shooting drones one-by-one.

Now that Erio was the one drained by Aren had Caro recovered enough to support the Stars. -I ask for a shield to protect the innocent. Mass shield!-

As the cast finished all platform's holding an item gained small fields to protect the objects on them.

”Thanks Caro.” Subaru thanked loading cartridges in her armed device, Revolver Knuckle. -Divine Buster!- She screamed and a blue ray sweeped across the hall taking most of the drones out and damaging no artifacts.

”What was that?” A screen popped next to Teana. All AMF drones seemed to be destroyed and calling was now possible. ”You didn't do it the lazy way and just blast them all?” Nanoha scolded her unruly subcoordinates.

”I had Caro protect the important stuff!” Subaru tried to reason herself not noticing that Caro was panting heavily on her knees. Erio was recovering now that he could support himself via magic.

”Nothing broke? Thats good. I'm just worried about Caro-chan using such a large spell while drained by that watch.” Nanoha swung her staff at the two drones behind her slicing them apart.

”I'm okay. Erio-kun is carrying it for me.” Caro informed now on her two feet.

”Found it!” A voice behind a corner called the forwards to her. ”That's the bowl we're looking for, right?” Subaru asked the people gathered behind her.

[Yes that's the one. Now we'll need Nanoha-san to place me in there.]

”I'll be there in a moment.” The blue eyed woman answered with Fate slicing four drones at once in the background.

Teana saluted and shut the monitor. ”Subaru, stay here with Erio. Me and Caro shall go on.” She ordered gaining three salutes before running to a nearby corridor.

”So, Erio.” Subaru said at the boy leaning on his device, Strada. ”What do you think of Caro?”

[Yes, I would like to know too.]

”What do you mean?” Erio blinked.

”Too innocent...” Subaru sighed deeply.

[He'll get it one day.] The watch laughed.

”Sorry to make you wait.” Nanoha appeared from a cloud of dust. ”We just place you in that mold in the bottom?”

[Yes, but let's not do it now. Shari-san will miss all the fun.] The device showed a pair of eyes in its screen with malicious look.

”That would be great and all but we're not supposed to remove anything from this museum.” Nanoha answered poking the watch waiting for it to open. ”Open up.”

[Fine, fine. Just put the bowl on flat ground afterwards.] The lid opened revealing an orange disc, making it impossible for him to speak anymore.

Nanoha took the disk and turned the bowl upside down, revealing an opening in its bottom for it. It fit perfectly in it causing purple streams run upwards the edges. Nanoha quickly turned the bowl and placed it on the platform where it had been. When the streams reached the outer edge they started to pour orange substance in to the bowl. Once filled the liquid flashed with purple light, causing Erio, Subaru and Nanoha cover their eyes. Few moments later they found a slender man in front of them. Now that he wasn't moving in blinding speeds or reading himself for combat they could inspect what he looked like.

The boy was around Nanoha's age and height; twenty~ish and 1.7m~ish. He had slightly rippled suit on him, white skinlike gloves and black shoes. His hair was black, short and uncombed. His face was dripping arrogancy but was still strangely kind. He looked like a young butler of a poor family.

After inspecting his own hands he put them in his pocket and kept them there. Slightly leaning back in the air, he turned his head towards the bowl and in one swift kick broke it, causing the orange substance flow on the marbled floor.

”That thing shouldn't exist here.” The suited man brought his extended foot back next to the other and corrected his stance, now standing straight.

”You did know that nobody knew how to seal people in gems with that thing? Nobody would have minded if you had kept that historical item intact.” Nanoha scolded the man.

”Oh...” He said turning his head towards the shards that once were a bowl. ”That is true.”

Nanoha gave the man an amused grin and comforted him with a pat in a shoulder. ”We'll just say it was the drones.”

”But... I must at least apologize. Which reminds me, I have to apoligize Fate-chan and Signum-san for the beating... And Yuuno-san for the kidnap... And calling him a crossdresser.”

”Crossdresser?” Nanoha asked, noticing how Erio facepalmed. ”Tell me everything.” The brunette demanded more from the troubled man.

”Here's the bad boy.” Fate held up a red crystal followed by Teana and Caro. ”I see you finished here as well.” She said inspecting a man in front of Nanoha.

”You took out all the drones?” Nanoha swiched her mode back to militarian.

”Some escaped but watching their movement, I doubt they make far. We got a call from the local TSAB that they're sending people here.” The blond answered, jerking Nanoha's hand off from Aren's shoulder.

”Did they wait on purpose that we would do all the job?” Teana asked slightly irritated.

The front of the museum was swarmed by local TSAB officers running around. Aren was apoligizing the dean of the museum while the rest explained the situation to a local enforcer.

”Nanoha-san.” Subaru asked the blue eyed woman after she had finished her explanation. ”You were very nice to the man. If any of us would have broken an item back there we would be flying back to the Claudia on the wrong end of Starlight Breaker.”

”Well you see he doesn't work for me, so I'm planning to punish him when the time is right.” The woman revealed her diabolic plan at Subaru whose smile had turned into twitching fear.

Turning away she mumbled ”I see... I should have known...” She left Nanoha giggling by herself.

”Nanoha-chan, get back here so we can start the preperations for the book.” Hayate forced a console open next to her.

”Got it, boss.” She saluted and called the people leaving with her to gather around. ”We'll be leaving soon, get ready.”

”So this is Aren Genran. The only known Selshin magic user.” Hayate asked the suited man.

”That's me.” He confirmed raising his right hand a bit before placing it back in his pocket.

”You look kinda smashed.” Chrono thought out loud inspecting the man.

”I only have one set of clothes.” His pray tried to defend himself.

”We'll get you something back at Riot force 6.” Hayate gestured Aren to follow her. ”Before we get there I would like to talk to you a bit though.”

Waiting for the footsteps to vanish Chrono asked: ”You sure he wasn't just using us to get out of that gem?” From the close circle of friends around him.

”Not sure. He is strong enough to incapacitate both Fate-chan and Signum-san.” Nanoha answered slightly worried about the question.

”He's not that strong. He used much more power then he really had when kidnapping me.” The blond man revealed the truth. ”He dissolved quickly after he had explained everything to me. He was suppose to stay as human for 6 days so after waiting me to wake up he calculated using about 4 to 5 days worth of energy.”

”So now as a human he is weaker then he was in that gem?” Fate questioned relieved.

”Yes. I think as a gem he could fight at full power until his power ran out.” Yuuno deduced

”Well that explains why he wasn't even panting after the fight.” The blond woman recall what had happened on that rooftop.

”Lets keep our eyes open anyway.” The brunette woman adviced before leaving the room.

”Mind if I walk with you, Nanoha?” Fate asked after catching up with her best friend.

”You don't need to ask for that. If possible I would always walk with you.” The brunette smiled happily and held Fate's hand, making her shade in cheeks.

”So, Yuuno.” Chrono turned towards the man next to him now that they were alone. The forwards had left silently to their cabins earlier. ”How has it been before you got kidnapped?”

”Tough.” The man answered sighing deeply. ”People at the library teases me about my metrosexuality, I got nearly half of TSAB relying on me finding information for them and the funding of the library got cut again.”

”Now, now...” The blue haired man patted the blond's back trying to find something comforting to say. ”Then take this mission as a vacation.”

”Yeah. I feel much better when I consider an operation to destroy upgraded version of one of the most destructictive lost logia as a vacation.”

”Ah...” Chrono realized, freezing complitely. ”Um... Well atleast you got your friends around you.” He tried once more comfort the man.

”Yes. Now that's a vacation.” He said straightening his back and began walking out of the room.

”About that metrosexuality. You sure they don't mean gay?” Chrono teased.

”I'm straight all the way...” Yuuno explained uninterested.

”Even so. I'm married and you've been single for 20 years.” Chrono laughed sarcastically and slammed his hand on Yuuno's back.

”I did date Nanoha for a while.” Yuuno attempted defend himself, realizing that their relationship never went further then it had already been. The only thing that happened between them was that Yuuno volunteered as Nanoha's personal slave, a status he would never lose.

”You did?” The blue haired man teased Yuuno who was now shattered. ”I noticed no difference.” He stated the same thing Yuuno had thought.

”Uh... Some vacation...” Yuuno left the malevolent man by himself.

As his cabin came closer a familiar scent of chicken soup caught his nose. ”Dont say we're grouped in the same room.”

Opening the room revealed a man in black suit cooking a potful of chicken soup. ”Welcome, Yuuno-san.” The man greeted Yuuno like he was his master.

”Soup again?” He asked with irritated tone but in reality he wanted to eat it. It was delicious. ”Is that all you can cook?”

”Nope, but I cook this best. I'm spicing it for your taste so my apologicy will have greater effect.” Aren stated without realizing how he revealed his plan.

”About that thing that happened in Erio-kun's room?” He recalled throwing Aren out of the window when he revealed one small incident that everybody involved promised to take to their graves.

”Yes. Hey, wait! How did you know what this meal was for?” The suited man questioned and turned around, revealing a pink apron.

”Well, you know me.” He stated before tasting the soup made by his new butler. ”It indeed is suited for my taste. How did you make this so fast? I thought Hayate wanted to speak with you?” He asked, wondering the speed this ragged butler could fix a soup.

”She only wanted to know why I was running around hunting various lost logia, leaving them after I saw them.” Aren answered possibly already forgotten the question about his soup or just didn't want to reveal his secrets. Yuuno knew this all too well as he had many cooking tricks he didn't like to share.

”Searching for the original book?” The blond asked, sitting on the lower bed, claiming it as his.

”Yes.” The black haired butler now setting up the table for two. ”Ready!” Aren stated raising his arms up in air, a gesture Yuuno already knew.

Yuuno rose from his bed and sat at the already finished table. The man would have made an excellent butler as the table was perfectly set and ready for two in under a minute.

”How is it?” The glaring man asked as Yuuno took the first spoonful.

”I'll forgive you.” And took more watching closely how the man began eating his soup with a big smile.

The meal was silent, like it was holy for Aren. Afterwards the butler-look-a-like cleaned the table before Yuuno had the change to help and ordered him to sleep as he would take care of dishes. Yuuno followed this order reluctantly, as it wasn't usual for him to leave dishes for others, but he was feeling strangely sleepy and fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow

Many words this time as there is a chapter change and it would be a shame to post two very short instead.

The long term physical distance between the two coming to an end and Fate and Nanoha finally able to be together again after so long apart. Just the awkwardness that would be present with having to get to know each other again, get comfortable in each others presence again, after so long would be enough to write at least a decent sized one-shot about I would think. Although if you don't feel up to it I understand.

Ah, lunchtime. A time much looked-forward to by the Forwards of Riot Force 6; Lunch was the break they got after spending a morning of PT and getting their collective asses kicked by Nanoha Takamachi. The latter was seated with them today in RF6's mess hall, eating lunch with her students, a rare occasion, and regaling them with some of the stories of her past exploits. Subaru hung off every word of her idol, Teana listened with rapt attention, and Caro and Erio were enthralled by Nanoha's stories.

The White Devil had just finished one story, took a sip from her drink, and was about to launch into another when she was interrupted by a casual, familliar voice: "Yo, Beamspam-chan. It's been a while, hasn't it?"

"Franz-kun!" she exclaimed, rising out of her chair with a smile on her face, hugging the man who'd appeared by the table. He was a bit taller than Nanoha, with black hair combed neatly to the side, wearing dark-tinted sunglasses and the Dress Blues of an officer assigned to the TSAB Navy, and he wore a strange rank insignia on his collar and a unit patch on his left arm, though his shoulder rank insignia was identical to the TSAB Ground Forces, proclaiming him to be a 2nd Lieutenant. He appeared to be in his late twenties to early thirties, moving with the grace of an experienced combat veteran, and appeared totally at ease with Nanoha, laughing and talking to her softly in a language that none at the table spoke fluently (though Subaru could recognise it as Japanese, her ancestral language) before he switched to a tongue they all could recognise.

"The one and only, Beamspam-chan... I mean, Captain Takamachi," he grinned. "2nd Lieutenant Franz Jaeger at your service, Ma'am."

"Oh, sit down, Franz-kun," laughed Nanoha. "We're all friends here. Everyone, this is Franz Jaeger, of the Order of Freelance Mages, an old friend of us Captains and the Commander. You're still the Ground Platoon Leader?"

"Yep," nodded Franz. "We just got back from another offplanet deployment, we're starting our rest/refit cycle. The Colonel sent me over to pass some stuff to Hayate-chan and to also look you up and see if you'd be interested me and my boys spicing up your training. We've heard good things about your kids, and well... Glen and the Colonel are always on the lookout for a few good mages. Even as far away as we are, we've heard about you guys, though I believe this is the first time we've been introduced?"

The nods he received affirmed his guess, and Nanoha handled the introductions deftly, and Franz spent a few minutes getting to know the Forwards, until Subaru breached the inevitable question: "Just how do you know Nanoha-taichou, Sir?"

"hmmmm...." murmured Franz thoughtfully, stroking his chin. "That depends. I'd first heard of her about... yeah, ten years ago; Beamspam-chan here was considered one of the best prodigies ever discovered, and her assistance to the Athra and Admiral Lindy Harlaown... you may not know much about our unit, since we tend to keep a low profile and we're always running all over the place, but we've got close ties to Admiral Harlaown, and she's tended to request assistance from us when possible, though we were on a deployment and couldn't meet up with her until after the whole Precia Testarossa incident was over. But meeting face to face... it was five years ago, wasn't it, Nanoha?"

"You were such a fanboy," chuckled Nanoha. "When he first saw us, his first words were 'See? See?! I told you they existed!' It gave me a shock to see a grown man come up to three teenagers and almost worship them."

"Oh, I stopped the worship after that day," said Franz wryly. "Shall we tell them about it?"

"Sure, why not?"

"Okay, pay attention, kids. It was some time after we'd all gotten to know each other and become friends. The Order was in another rest/refit cycle, and we managed to get everyone's schedules synchronised, so we had a sorta picnic/powermeeting day; the Volkenritter were hanging out with some of our guys, Glen and Emili were talking to Fate about something, the Colonel and Hayate were discussing something important, probably her Riot Force 6 concept, and out of sheer damn boredom, I suggested to Beamspam-chan here that we do a one on one. Now, I'd been ranked A+ for a while, and was settling into my position and rank, and I wanted to see how I matched up against the famous Nanoha, the girl who mows down enemy like a firehose puting out fires..."

"So he actually challenged Nanoha to a duel and she agreed?" asked Emili, curious. "This is interesting... I bet he'll last 3 minutes."

"Bruder should be able to last 4 minutes..." began Naomi Jaeger hesitantly. She adored her older brother, and thought the world of him... but then, Nanoha was worlds apart from Franz in terms of skill and power.

"4 minutes 30 seconds, no longer. In five minutes, this will be all over," predicted Glen, as he watched the two combatants get ready. Everyone had wrangled transport or flown themselves to the nearest set of TSAB proving grounds, which Nanoha had appropriated using her Instructor Corps authority; now both she and Franz were ready, both in their barrier jackets, their devices out in hand: Raging Heart in Nanoha's left hand, Cortana, the Katana Device, in Franz's right hand. Fate raised a bullhorn to her mouth, and gave the signal: "Three, two, one, GO!"

Within the first ten seconds, Nanoha could see that Franz's combat style was based on fast attacks with a bent to slashes; he charged forward, bringing his sword in a sideways slash, a move that Nanoha sidestepped and evaded, bringing Raging Heart to block his followup slash, before catching Raging Heart under his downwards slash and striking forward, attempting to skewer him. The Erusian mage jumped back and to the side, his sword raised in a guard, as Nanoha leapt up and loaded a cartridge.

[Accel Shooter.]

"Oh hell," muttered Franze, as ten orbs of magenta light flew towards him; the Erusian cursed and jumped up, hopping from floor of ruined building to floor of ruinined building, either evading each shot or catching it and deflecting it with his blade, putting on a boost of speed and energy that saw him shoot up, higher than Nanoha... and saw him descend just as fast, Cortana arched for a piercing thrust.

"Gatotsu!" he called, lightning energy flowing through his blade as he brought it down at Nanoha, who lifted her free hand and murmured an incantation, as Round Shield appeared; she caught the blade on her shield. Nanoha wasn't considered one of the best Agressors for nothing; as she caught the blade on her shield, she twisted and turned, allowing Franz's momentum to push her out of the way and leave him with no resistance, falling to the ground. She pointed Raging Heart at him and loaded two cartridges, preparing to fire Divine Buster...

As Franz fell, Cortana shifted forms, changing from a katana into a form resembling a bolt-action rifle; entering Rifle Form allowed it to use shooting spells, such as Plasma Lancer, Lightning Breaker... and Divine Buster. Cortana had one weakness; unline other mixed Mid-Childan/Belkan-style devices, it used a bolt-action system to load cartridges, so as he fell, Franz had to manually chamber his weapon; yet he did it with time to spare, and it was debatable who was most surprise, as both he and Nanoha simultaneously called out "Divine BUSTER!" and fired beams of magical energy at each other.... though Nanoha's beam was larger than Franz's...

Present Day, Riot Force 6 Cafeteria

"So that's why you weren't surprised when Subaru copied your Divine Buster," mused Teana thoughtfully, looking shrewdly at Nanoha and Franz. "It had already been copied."

"That's right," smiled Nanoha. "Franz-kun and Colonel von Long were the first people to copy Divine Buster... although they DID ask permission first," she continued, smiling reasurringly at an embarrassed Subaru, who looked as if she wanted to sink into the floor and die. "Well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It wasn't as powerful though..."

"I don't call you 'Beamspam-chan' for nothin'," shrugged Franz. "Now, that was the first time I'd used Divine Buster outside of the firing range, and lemme tell you, the feeling of firing it for real as compared to a on the range... it was totally different experience.

"Now, I could finally see the true difference in our power: this was just a few months after the airport fire, so Beamspam-chan was already S+, while I'd just made A+ around six months prior, so the result was obvious. There was no way in hell I could touch her; all my Divine Buster did was absorb and retard some of Beamspam-chan's fire, but not much, so I whipped out Panzerschild and called upon my hot blood..."

Four Years ago

"Nanoha will win."

Vita spoke with such assurance and confidence, she could have swayed anyone to her thinking, even with such a simple statement. As it stood though, about the only person who thought Franz had a snowball's chance in hell of beating Nanoha was, well, Franz. The only real question was how long he'd last.

"I still say he'll lose in 3 minutes. That's my wager."

"4 minutes and 30 seconds, liebchen," retorted Glen. "One must be precise in one's target selection. He'll last no longer than that. Speaking of which, what does the loser owe the winner?" His eyebrows raised fractionally as Emili whispered in his ear, and the look he turned on her spoke volumes; Emili matched his gaze and smiled coyly, and Glen smiled internally as well. Regardless of who wins, it's a win-win situation, he thought, pleased.

11-year-old Naomi was upset that nobody was supporting her brother...but...well... it was true that Nanoha-oneechan was so much cooler than Franz.

"He never learns," sighed Signum, shaking her head. "Though I knew that already..."

Franz had fared no better against Signum, either, in an earlier spar several months ago.

"It's the biggest joke in the Order," muttered Glen sourly. "Seven years ago, Erick tells me to "finish his training." Seven years later, and he still isn't done. My life is a cartoon."

"Oh, shut up, baka," laughed Emili, and she kissed him.

"...guess it's not all bad, though," mused Glen, when he finally came up for air.

As he fell to the ground, Franz's mind raced through his options, the hot blood in his veins giving priority to the most destructive plans, until it found one that might work...

"Cortana, Sonic Move!"

[Da, Comrade.]

Franz flickered away from Nanoha's Divine Buster, barely missing the giant pink beam; throwing himself against another ruined building, skidding down along the outer wall...

[Burst Jump.]

Powered by magic, he jumped up and away, heading right towards Nanoha, Cortana shifting into katana form; he chambered another two cartridges and yelled his incantation: "PLASMA LANCER, FIRE!" Eight glowing arrows shot forward towards Nanoha; Franz began praying to Guinness that they'd hit...

And snarled as Nanoha calmly evaded all eight arrows with the briefests of movements and a smile on her face. The arrows retargeted and charged Nanoha, as he ordered "Blitz Rush,"... and cursed as Nanoha's Accel Shooter shot down all his arrows.

Franz had forgotten that Nanoha was Fate's best friend... and thus knew the counters to all her friend's attacks. Attacks which he had copied. (Albeit with permission, but still copied.)

"Don't underestimate me!" he roared. "I didn't get where I am by sitting on my ass! I'll show you the golden path of battle that all great men travel! Heaven or Earth, it makes no difference! The purity of my heart gives me the strength of ten men!"

"Not your Device?" called Nanoha teasingly.

"...uh, well, that too," admitted Franz, murmuring "Deflection", his blade glowed yellow and he brought up his sword to guard against Nanoha's Accel Shooter, deflecting magenta energy orbs, as his left hand snaked towards the black pistol in the holster on his belt. He flew through the air, coming closer and closer...

"Barrett Shot!"

His hand lifted the Pistol Device and it automatically chambered a cartridge; focusing magic at the barrel exit, Franz focused and squeezed the trigger. The hammer came down and fired the cartridge; the slide rocked back, ejecting the empty shell casing, as the compressed magical energy flowed through the barrel into the ball of magic at the exit, giving the spell the energy it needed; like a shot of NOS to an engine. 4 magical shots rang out, as Jack past Nanoha and squeezed the trigger again, firing another four-shot spell at her; as he reached the apex of his jump and began falling, he looked down...

To see Nanoha deflecting all 8 shots off Round Shield, and point Raging Heart at him.

"Magnum Shot!" he called, squeezing his trigger, firing single shots at Nanoha, who paused her attack to form a smaller shield, catching and deflecting his shots. Magnum Shot was similar to Barrett Shot, but instead of firing a 4-round burst, poured all its power into a single shot, which gave it A+-rank power, but also gave it strong recoil, which was strong enough to push Franz back and slow his fall; he stowed his pistol and frantically loaded a pair of cartridges into Cortana, chambering cartridges as he came closer and closer, as Nanoha casted Active Guard, slowing him down further as she prepared her attack.

Which was when Franz finished loading cartridges and began his speech.

"Don't underestimate me! This is the golden path of battle that all great men travel! The Magma of my heart! My Young Blood on FIRE! Who do you think I am?! GIGA! DRILL! BREAKEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Glen facepalmed, his free hand twitching, as Emili sighed and patted his shoulder, and Naomi hid behind Emili, her face beet red. Fate and the Volkenritter looked at themselves, Franz, and then at Glen, who raised a hand.

"Don't. Ask."

Nanoha blinked and dropped her attack, as Raging Heart chanted Protection Powered, catching the giant energy drill that glowed and pulsed madly; sparks flew as the giant drill tried to drill into her barrier, and Franz had a wildly triumphant look on his face, a look of "I have you now"...

Before Nanoha smiled sweetly at him.

[Barrier Burst.], spoke Raging Heart sweetly... sounding especially pleased with herself.

"Fu-"

Barrier Burst operated on similar principles to the reactive armor used on Earth and Erusia: a controlled detonation that threw the explosive force outwards, flinging the attacker away. The results were even more spectacular becase Franz's Giga Drill Breaker was an energy drill, and had partially "drilled" through the explosion of magic before being flung away... which meant that he had caught parts of the blast right in his face. The force was enough to stun him, and he fell from the sky; fortunately, it was only a hundred feet or so, and Nanoha was kind enough to break his fall... by using a dozen Accel Shooter projectiles to hit him as he fell, coming up and slowing his fall.

The Erusian mage landed in a crumpled heap on the rubble, and for a moment, appeared still.

"Three minutes and 55 seconds," said Emili. "I guess neither of us win..."

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!" roared Franz suddenly, dragging himself upwards, fumbling painfully for Cortana, which lay a few feet away. His left eye was swollen shut, and blood caked his forehead and fingers, and he had to squint his right eye painfully to see through the blood. "Cortana may be gone from my hands, but I am undefeated! My back is bowed, but my head is held high! So long as this heart beats, I shall never surrender!" He raised his pistol, chambering a cartridge. "Plasma La-"

[Divine Buster, Extension.]

That was when Nanoha's final Divine Buster slammed into him, before he could even raise a shield. When the beam faded, Franz took a step, and fell face-forward.

"Winner, Nanoha!" announced Fate, and Emili checked her watch, smiling at Glen. "Four minutes and thirty seconds. You were right. Well, I guess I'd better take Naomi and go check on him."

"Ja," agreed Glen, as she picked up Franz's sister and flew off to the unmoving mage, as the others slowly made their way to him. Emili landed in a crouch in front of Franz, depositing Naomi and leaning over him.

There was one quirk that Emili had; her TSAB Blues uniform sported a skirt that was shorter than regulation (almost a miniskirt, in fact), with a slit that ran higher than usual. Why was this important?

Franz was rolled onto his back, and his eye blearily tracked up, moving past her boots to her white thigh socks, further up...

"A flash of blue," he murmured. "An azure cloud set against the milky sky..."

Emili gasped, her face flushing, and immediately reacted, kicking Franz into the air with a spin kick, shouting "ERASE IT FROM YOUR MIND!" and landing a 12-hit combo as he fell down and tumbled to slam into yet another piece of rubble.

"Bruder!" exclaimed Naomi excitedly. "Compared to Nanoha-neechan's Divine Buster, which hurts more?"

"Can't you ask me about something else?" groaned Franz miserably. "Goddamn mages have antisniper hax. God damn you, Beamspam."

Present Day, Riot Force 6 Cafeteria

"And that, kids, is the day I stopped thinking of Takamachi Nanoha as my idol and my hero... and began to think of her as my friend," smiled Franz. "Friendship through superior firepower..."

"I should have known you were here, Franz," murmured a quiet voice, and he stiffened, his eyes wide, sweat sliding down the side of his face, an Oh shit expression on his face. "Uh, hi, Sir."

Glen Schattenmann looked coldly at his apprentice and subordinate, and when he spoke, his tone was as cold as ice. "You. Paperwork. Now."

"My apologies, Ladies and gent, but I gotta run," said Franz. "Good luck to all of you. See ya, Beamspam-chan. Sir, about this, I can-"

"Now, Leytenant."

"Yessir," replied Franz, who fled; none of the Forwards could find it in their hearts to blame him. Glen stared after him, before turning to the table and inclining his head. "Pardon me," he murmured, and swept away.

Nanoha shook her head and chuckled fondly. "Some things will never change..."

Today we are going to take one very important factor under closer look.

It is pointless additions.

Some of you might have already thought: 'Why is that there? Only to take pages?'

Let me tell you this. Why would I write about pointless things? They add nothing and only take space.
Hayate into cosplay? Would you believe that it actually is going to have significant part in development of two characters? (And no they're definetly not who you think they are)
Syrup? That, too, is going to develop two characters. (I bet it isn't surprising which two )
Heck even two characters walking past each other without actually talking to each other is going to have a significance at one point.
When one of the major secrets for part two is going to start, you will have no idea it has even started as it will really be pointless at that point.

Hopefully this little segment makes you consider the pointless addition in the next scenario a bit more carefully. It's not there to create action. It's there to give information.
What this information is, will be a secret for those that figure it out. (Or to those who ask about it.)

”What were the odds?!” Nanoha cursed her back against crumbled wall holding her Raising Heart in staff form.

”Tell me about it.” Fate agreed next to her.

Fate peered to see what was happening behind the wall, she saw a mass of drones attacking the museum. AMF was running strongly keeping all connections down making it impossible to contact anybody to remove the limiters not that it would matter as the AMF would nullify the benefits from it. She counted around 30 small, 5 big and 4 AMF drones.

”Forwards create team B, I and Fate will make team A.” Saying this they heard a large explosion from the museum entrance. ”It's refreshing to shuffle.” The brunette reasoned and jumped over the wall followed closely by her partner Fate.

”Roger.” The forwards saluted and quickly followed the two Aces who were already taken out 4 drones under powerful AMF.

Museum was swarming with drones. Miraculously no artifacts had been broken by the attack, only the reception was in ruins by the previous explosion.

”Wait up.” Caro tried to keep up with her team mates. She was in charge of holding Aren and thus very exhausted. Too exhausted to be exact.

”Let me carry the watch for a moment.” Erio offered. ”Tia-san, Subaru-san, mind fighting for us? We can't propably cast any spells.”

[Oh no, don't do that for me. Leave me here and pick me up when you're done.] Aren begged the red haired boy. He was already feeling bad at letting a small girl be his battery.

”But you can't be recharge with magic energy if your power falls to zero, right?”

He was right. If he had no source of power he had to enter sleep state, opening his lid and only waking up by mind drain, which nobody volunteered to do, not to mention that he ran out fast.

[Well the situation isn't that grim so I guess...] Aren subdued to Erio who was covering Caro from yet another dust cloud created by explosion.

”Hey, watch it you tin can!” Subaru shouted catching a falling cup from its platform. They we're ordered not to create large scale destruction in the museum.

”Respect my authority!” Teana shot at the drones but the strong AMF nullified them before they hit the target. ”Damn! Subaru destroy that AMF drone!” She ordered as the leader of forwards.

”Righty boss.” And she accelerated with her rollerblades, jumped and smashed the drone in one hit. ”These drones are dumber then what we usually face.” She questioned the fact how easily the drone got hit.

”I don't think they we're expecting resistance.” Teana said shooting drones one-by-one.

Now that Erio was the one drained by Aren had Caro recovered enough to support the Stars. -I ask for a shield to protect the innocent. Mass shield!-

As the cast finished all platform's holding an item gained small fields to protect the objects on them.

”Thanks Caro.” Subaru thanked loading cartridges in her armed device, Revolver Knuckle. -Divine Buster!- She screamed and a blue ray sweeped across the hall taking most of the drones out and damaging no artifacts.

”What was that?” A screen popped next to Teana. All AMF drones seemed to be destroyed and calling was now possible. ”You didn't do it the lazy way and just blast them all?” Nanoha scolded her unruly subcoordinates.

”I had Caro protect the important stuff!” Subaru tried to reason herself not noticing that Caro was panting heavily on her knees. Erio was recovering now that he could support himself via magic.

”Nothing broke? Thats good. I'm just worried about Caro-chan using such a large spell while drained by that watch.” Nanoha swung her staff at the two drones behind her slicing them apart.

”I'm okay. Erio-kun is carrying it for me.” Caro informed now on her two feet.

”Found it!” A voice behind a corner called the forwards to her. ”That's the bowl we're looking for, right?” Subaru asked the people gathered behind her.

[Yes that's the one. Now we'll need Nanoha-san to place me in there.]

”I'll be there in a moment.” The blue eyed woman answered with Fate slicing four drones at once in the background.

Teana saluted and shut the monitor. ”Subaru, stay here with Erio. Me and Caro shall go on.” She ordered gaining three salutes before running to a nearby corridor.

”So, Erio.” Subaru said at the boy leaning on his device, Strada. ”What do you think of Caro?”

[Yes, I would like to know too.]

”What do you mean?” Erio blinked.

”Too innocent...” Subaru sighed deeply.

[He'll get it one day.] The watch laughed.

”Sorry to make you wait.” Nanoha appeared from a cloud of dust. ”We just place you in that mold in the bottom?”

[Yes, but let's not do it now. Shari-san will miss all the fun.] The device showed a pair of eyes in its screen with malicious look.

”That would be great and all but we're not supposed to remove anything from this museum.” Nanoha answered poking the watch waiting for it to open. ”Open up.”

[Fine, fine. Just put the bowl on flat ground afterwards.] The lid opened revealing an orange disc, making it impossible for him to speak anymore.

Nanoha took the disk and turned the bowl upside down, revealing an opening in its bottom for it. It fit perfectly in it causing purple streams run upwards the edges. Nanoha quickly turned the bowl and placed it on the platform where it had been. When the streams reached the outer edge they started to pour orange substance in to the bowl. Once filled the liquid flashed with purple light, causing Erio, Subaru and Nanoha cover their eyes. Few moments later they found a slender man in front of them. Now that he wasn't moving in blinding speeds or reading himself for combat they could inspect what he looked like.

The boy was around Nanoha's age and height; twenty~ish and 1.7m~ish. He had slightly rippled suit on him, white skinlike gloves and black shoes. His hair was black, short and uncombed. His face was dripping arrogancy but was still strangely kind. He looked like a young butler of a poor family.

After inspecting his own hands he put them in his pocket and kept them there. Slightly leaning back in the air, he turned his head towards the bowl and in one swift kick broke it, causing the orange substance flow on the marbled floor.

”That thing shouldn't exist here.” The suited man brought his extended foot back next to the other and corrected his stance, now standing straight.

”You did know that nobody knew how to seal people in gems with that thing? Nobody would have minded if you had kept that historical item intact.” Nanoha scolded the man.

”Oh...” He said turning his head towards the shards that once were a bowl. ”That is true.”

Nanoha gave the man an amused grin and comforted him with a pat in a shoulder. ”We'll just say it was the drones.”

”But... I must at least apologize. Which reminds me, I have to apoligize Fate-chan and Signum-san for the beating... And Yuuno-san for the kidnap... And calling him a crossdresser.”

”Crossdresser?” Nanoha asked, noticing how Erio facepalmed. ”Tell me everything.” The brunette demanded more from the troubled man.

”Here's the bad boy.” Fate held up a red crystal followed by Teana and Caro. ”I see you finished here as well.” She said inspecting a man in front of Nanoha.

”You took out all the drones?” Nanoha swiched her mode back to militarian.

”Some escaped but watching their movement, I doubt they make far. We got a call from the local TSAB that they're sending people here.” The blond answered, jerking Nanoha's hand off from Aren's shoulder.

”Did they wait on purpose that we would do all the job?” Teana asked slightly irritated.

The front of the museum was swarmed by local TSAB officers running around. Aren was apoligizing the dean of the museum while the rest explained the situation to a local enforcer.

”Nanoha-san.” Subaru asked the blue eyed woman after she had finished her explanation. ”You were very nice to the man. If any of us would have broken an item back there we would be flying back to the Claudia on the wrong end of Starlight Breaker.”

”Well you see he doesn't work for me, so I'm planning to punish him when the time is right.” The woman revealed her diabolic plan at Subaru whose smile had turned into twitching fear.

Turning away she mumbled ”I see... I should have known...” She left Nanoha giggling by herself.

”Nanoha-chan, get back here so we can start the preperations for the book.” Hayate forced a console open next to her.

”Got it, boss.” She saluted and called the people leaving with her to gather around. ”We'll be leaving soon, get ready.”

”So this is Aren Genran. The only known Selshin magic user.” Hayate asked the suited man.

”That's me.” He confirmed raising his right hand a bit before placing it back in his pocket.

”You look kinda smashed.” Chrono thought out loud inspecting the man.

”I only have one set of clothes.” His pray tried to defend himself.

”We'll get you something back at Riot force 6.” Hayate gestured Aren to follow her. ”Before we get there I would like to talk to you a bit though.”

Waiting for the footsteps to vanish Chrono asked: ”You sure he wasn't just using us to get out of that gem?” From the close circle of friends around him.

”Not sure. He is strong enough to incapacitate both Fate-chan and Signum-san.” Nanoha answered slightly worried about the question.

”He's not that strong. He used much more power then he really had when kidnapping me.” The blond man revealed the truth. ”He dissolved quickly after he had explained everything to me. He was suppose to stay as human for 6 days so after waiting me to wake up he calculated using about 4 to 5 days worth of energy.”

”So now as a human he is weaker then he was in that gem?” Fate questioned relieved.

”Yes. I think as a gem he could fight at full power until his power ran out.” Yuuno deduced

”Well that explains why he wasn't even panting after the fight.” The blond woman recall what had happened on that rooftop.

”Lets keep our eyes open anyway.” The brunette woman adviced before leaving the room.

”Mind if I walk with you, Nanoha?” Fate asked after catching up with her best friend.

”You don't need to ask for that. If possible I would always walk with you.” The brunette smiled happily and held Fate's hand, making her shade in cheeks.

”So, Yuuno.” Chrono turned towards the man next to him now that they were alone. The forwards had left silently to their cabins earlier. ”How has it been before you got kidnapped?”

”Tough.” The man answered sighing deeply. ”People at the library teases me about my metrosexuality, I got nearly half of TSAB relying on me finding information for them and the funding of the library got cut again.”

”Now, now...” The blue haired man patted the blond's back trying to find something comforting to say. ”Then take this mission as a vacation.”

”Yeah. I feel much better when I consider an operation to destroy upgraded version of one of the most destructictive lost logia as a vacation.”

”Ah...” Chrono realized, freezing complitely. ”Um... Well atleast you got your friends around you.” He tried once more comfort the man.

”Yes. Now that's a vacation.” He said straightening his back and began walking out of the room.

”About that metrosexuality. You sure they don't mean gay?” Chrono teased.

”I'm straight all the way...” Yuuno explained uninterested.

”Even so. I'm married and you've been single for 20 years.” Chrono laughed sarcastically and slammed his hand on Yuuno's back.

”I did date Nanoha for a while.” Yuuno attempted defend himself, realizing that their relationship never went further then it had already been. The only thing that happened between them was that Yuuno volunteered as Nanoha's personal slave, a status he would never lose.

”You did?” The blue haired man teased Yuuno who was now shattered. ”I noticed no difference.” He stated the same thing Yuuno had thought.

”Uh... Some vacation...” Yuuno left the malevolent man by himself.

As his cabin came closer a familiar scent of chicken soup caught his nose. ”Dont say we're grouped in the same room.”

Opening the room revealed a man in black suit cooking a potful of chicken soup. ”Welcome, Yuuno-san.” The man greeted Yuuno like he was his master.

”Soup again?” He asked with irritated tone but in reality he wanted to eat it. It was delicious. ”Is that all you can cook?”

”Nope, but I cook this best. I'm spicing it for your taste so my apologicy will have greater effect.” Aren stated without realizing how he revealed his plan.

”About that thing that happened in Erio-kun's room?” He recalled throwing Aren out of the window when he revealed one small incident that everybody involved promised to take to their graves.

”Yes. Hey, wait! How did you know what this meal was for?” The suited man questioned and turned around, revealing a pink apron.

”Well, you know me.” He stated before tasting the soup made by his new butler. ”It indeed is suited for my taste. How did you make this so fast? I thought Hayate wanted to speak with you?” He asked, wondering the speed this ragged butler could fix a soup.

”She only wanted to know why I was running around hunting various lost logia, leaving them after I saw them.” Aren answered possibly already forgotten the question about his soup or just didn't want to reveal his secrets. Yuuno knew this all too well as he had many cooking tricks he didn't like to share.

”Searching for the original book?” The blond asked, sitting on the lower bed, claiming it as his.

”Yes.” The black haired butler now setting up the table for two. ”Ready!” Aren stated raising his arms up in air, a gesture Yuuno already knew.

Yuuno rose from his bed and sat at the already finished table. The man would have made an excellent butler as the table was perfectly set and ready for two in under a minute.

”How is it?” The glaring man asked as Yuuno took the first spoonful.

”I'll forgive you.” And took more watching closely how the man began eating his soup with a big smile.

The meal was silent, like it was holy for Aren. Afterwards the butler-look-a-like cleaned the table before Yuuno had the change to help and ordered him to sleep as he would take care of dishes. Yuuno followed this order reluctantly, as it wasn't usual for him to leave dishes for others, but he was feeling strangely sleepy and fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow

Many words this time as there is a chapter change and it would be a shame to post two very short instead.

Nanoha is about to turn 18 in SbtB. As a plot device, should she start taking topless jobs (remember she signed the contract saying she would do them)? These are all non hentai poses. Meaning professional lingerie modeling, shower supplies, body art, suntanning ads, ect. This does not include fender bunny/car bunny/topless calenders, ect. Tasteful only. I'm asking because I'm thinking of using for plot, not fanservice. So before you vote, please sit and think about your answer. If you're not sure, then don't vote either way please.

Also, all comments are welcome, and I'd really like to hear your ideas on this. This is a big "outside the box" thing and I don't want to turn off my readers.
