CIA admits role in 1953 Iranian coup

Quote:
One document describes Mosaddeq as one of the "most mercurial, maddening, adroit, and provocative leaders with whom they [the US and Britain] had ever dealt". The document says Mosaddeq "found the British evil, not incomprehensible", and "he and millions of Iranians believed that for centuries Britain had manipulated their country for British ends".
I suppose the irony was completely lost on these guys...

Let's see, F-15SE, F-35 and Typhoon

As a general rule I am anti-F35 which I see as an overpriced unproven platform which buyers will be doing testing for LM while paying them for the next 10 years....

U.S. officials on Monday distanced themselves from the decision of British authorities to detain the Brazilian partner of Glenn Greenwald, the journalist who has exposed details of National Security Agency surveillance programs, amid questions over the documents officials may have confiscated. White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters that U.S. officials had received a “heads-up” that London police would detain David Miranda on Sunday, but he said the U.S. government did not request Miranda’s detention, calling it “a law enforcement action” taken by the British government.

LONDON (AP) — British agents oversaw the destruction of an unspecified number of the Guardian newspaper's hard drives in an apparent bid to keep the fruit of Edward Snowden's leaks safe from Chinese spies, the paper's editor said Monday.
Alan Rusbridger made the claim in an opinion piece published on the Guardian's website, saying that a pair of staffers from British eavesdropping agency GCHQ monitored the process in what he called "one of the more bizarre moments in the Guardian's long history."
He said the hard drives were torn apart in the basement of the Guardian's north London office with "two GCHQ security experts overseeing the destruction ... just to make sure there was nothing in the mangled bits of metal which could possibly be of any interest to passing Chinese agents."

I don't know, maybe its just a well orchestrated move to boost a special export market (Obama wanted to raise exports). It serves as a kind of free advertisment for [Disclaimer: the follwing excerpt is pure fiction and contains a vast dosis of irony]:

Secret Service of Country X: Damn our constitution and laws do not allow us to spy on our citizens without hard reason. How are we supposed to improve our thread detection rate? (that corresponds to the yearly earnings of stock exchange listed companies)
We need to outsource this shit to someone who is good at it, doesn't have any scruple, is not too restricted by laws and is a reliable partner.

NSA guy 1: Hey fellas, you really think its wise to get such a shit storm in return for a good advertisment of our services?
NSA guy 2: Don't worry mate, you will see the president will like our export oriented thinking.
NSA guy 1: Ok, I make it look like a leak then.

Secret Service of Country X: Wow that NSA shit is serious business lets outsource our not so law-conform activities to the NSA, its worth every penny.

I'm shaking my head at those who think Obama is anywhere near those authoritarians. Obama is doing exactly what he should be doing: Stopping those worthless trash who think they're doing anything good by committing crimes supposedly under freedom and liberty.

How low the "developed" world in general as fallen, thinking peace and prosperity comes at no price.

Isn't it exactly what NSA is doing then? A crime ... under freedom and liberty.

And your second point makes no sense : you base your assumptions that what they are doing is a necessity, oblivious that others things could be done for the same results.

It's like losing weight, either you eat better, or you do sports, two way of attaining the same result.

I do not consider what the NSA is doing as a crime, except under a twisted view of rights which is what seems to be the norm these days. Of crouse, that is my view, and I don't expect people to agree with it. Still, I am saddened by the general trend of today, the corruption of the core values people spilled blood for.

Today's "liberalism" is no different from Animal Farm.
