There are some info's regarding the staff as posted in NeoSam's post.
Broadcast: April 2007 Original Work: Takemiya Keiko Director: Yamasaki Osamu Mecha Design: Izubuchi Yutaka Character Design: Yuki Nobuteru Animation Production: Minami-Machi Bugyousho Since this is a remake of the 1980 movie, I believe the short synopsis from the movie in the following is pertinent; courtesy of ANN: Light-years from Earth, where every aspect of life is controlled by the great master computer, if you are a Psychic (called a MU) you're dead. Hunted tirelessly, the MU have been hiding for centuries from the general populace. |

So that's what Minami-machi Bugyousho's new project was going to be!! I remember visiting their BBS after their surprisingly nice Mushishi episodes (I think two episodes were outsourced to them?). Osamu Yamazaki is the studio head I believe. Coincidentially - this is just from memory so it might be wrong - I think Nobuteru Yuki also helped them out greatly on their 2nd Mushishi episode. I think they haven't produced a show of their own since some obscure OVAs in the 80s though, so this must be quite a challenge for them. Here's hoping they do well.
And they must have definitely done something good to get onto this project, working with people like Izubuchi and adapting what if I'm not wrong is a relatively well-loved manga.

As spock would say "Fascinating"
Well at least that podcast was relatively informative without being too spoilery
Overall, this show sounds very intruiging to me based off the source material, sounds a little like Ideon to me. A lot of old school SF anime tend to recycle themes but they have this very solid storytelling that I enjoy, a very detailed sense of plot development/world view/character development that is detailed but not unreasonable or pretentious (a bit of a problem in this post eva world). Nobuteru Yuuki should be a perfect fit for the series design as would Izubuchi's mechs. What will make or break this show is the characterization. So that's this, Denno Coli, Skull Man, Gurren Lagann...boy better leave at that, college seriously cuts into anime viewing time |

It's not just "neo-latin." The word Terra is latin and it is used in this title for a very specific reason:
It is the standard used to mark Earth on language-independent starmaps.

The website for To Terra has gone live http://terra-e.com/
A full staff list is also available: Director: Osamu Yamazaki Script: Yutaka Izubuchi, Dai Sato, Hiroshi Ohnogi, Satoru Nishizono, Miho Sakai, Saizo Nemoto Character Designer: Nobuteru Yuuki Concept Design: Yutaka Izubuchi Mecha Design: Yasushi Ishizu, Takayuki Yanase, Hideyuki Matsumoto Art director: Shunichiro Yoshiwara Color design: Yuko Kanemaru Director of Photography: Takeshi Hirooka Music: Yasuharu Takanashi Animation Production: Minamimachi Bugyousho, Tokyo Kids Production: Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS), Sky Perfect Well Think Co., Ltd., Aniplex Writers revealed finally. Wasn't expecting Dai Sato, as much as I like his works as lead writer, I think he turns in better scripts when he's not in charge. Izubuchi writing here too, as well as on Skullman, same for Ohnogi. Don't have much to say about the other three. |
