Ugh.. does no one get it? It's said by Ender, from Ender's Game! By Orson Scott Card? Surely you've heard of him?

Okay, to sum it up in a nutshell.. six-year old genius is enrolled into Battle School in order to become mankind's savior in fighting the aliens. He is, basically, just a tool so that humans can annihilate the "buggers" (aliens), who, from their point of view, are a deadly threat.

Poor six-year old Ender is turned into a child soldier, and later the tactical genius that at 11 years old takes on the daunting task of saving all of humanity. But in the process, he is to be isolated and cut off from even the possiblity of having any friends 'cause the people in charge of cultivating these child geniuses don't want 'im getting any emotional attachments, since he's their best hope.

And this is a kid that "killed" two people by the time he was 10.. both of them accidentally, or so he thinks...

Yeah, a book that profoundly moved me, as the total loneliness that Ender feels is one that I can, if not relate to, then at least sympathize with. Card's prose is stunning.. "There was no doubt in Ender's mind. There was no help for him. Whatever he faced, now and forever, no one would save him from it. Peter might be scum, but Peter had been right, always right; the power to cause pain is the only power that matters, the power to kill and destroy, because if you can't kill you are always subject to those who can, and nothing and no one will ever save you."

The line "The enemy's gate is down" both conveys Ender's tactical genius as well as the theme of always thinking outside the box. For example, in a crucial battle, Ender figures out that the only criteria in order to win is to get five (I think) of your "team members" to the door (it's a battle game that the children's lives at the school revolve around). Previously, everyone had assumed that you also had to paralyze all of the other team's members first, but it's never explicitly stated. Ender turned this unsaid rule on its head by getting five kids out while the enemy's was thinking they had won because they'd paralyzed more kids on Ender's team. But, of course, they really lost.

Okay.. that was a long post.. I'll probably make another siggie later, I'm just very fond of that phrase..

- Hs Vi Germania. Not too bad, though the fact that Light's shirt is open is disturbing.. I asked this before but you didn't reply.. what was your previous sig at from ? Who were the characters?

AmoreDoll - 9/10. Simple, clean and very pleasing to look at. I'd maybe reposition the character's face just a bit lower so the mouth isn't showing at all, but that's just a nitpick.

Sinfully Naomi - 8/10. Very cute, but the colors look a little too faded. Also seems a bit busy towards the bottom & bottom right.

KawaiiKimmy - 8/10. I like the text font and the darker pink tones towards the bottom, but the character on the right seems a bit out of focus. I also like the patterns that line the bottom. Hmm...pink av, pink sig...I sense a theme here.
