Manga 'Maoujou de Oyasumi' (Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle) is getting a TV anime adaptation.

Plot

Sshhh! Princess Syalis is trying to get a good night's sleep. Some shut-eye. Forty winks. Catch some Z's. Long ago in olden times when people and demons lived together in—well, disharmony, really—a demon king kidnaps a human princess and imprisons her in his castle. Bereft, the princess's subjects beat their chests in anguish…until a hero arises to spearhead Project Rescue Our Princess! While waiting for her knight in shining armor, what's an imprisoned princess to do...? Teddy-bear guards with bat wings are all very well, but her dungeon cell is bo-o-o-ring! So, she decides to wile away the long hours by sleeping. Now if only she could get comfortable…and didn't suffer from insomnia...

It's great that the anime industry technically still has a fantasy series that isn't from a Narou (this apparently is from 3~4 years ago anyways).

But was this entertaining?
Hmm... That's hard to say. I mean, it wasn't a bad watch and definitely cute, but I question watching 24 minutes of the same joke every week.

Hmm... That's hard to say. I mean, it wasn't a bad watch and definitely cute, but I question watching 24 minutes of the same joke every week.

The manga is well over 100 chapters with the very same premise and it still makes me laugh. The story progression is kind of subtle but it is there over the long run. The writer is pretty skilled to maintain entertaining chapters using the same joke repeatedly.

Ah this episode was everything I hoped it would be. This series will be a fun light hearted comedy to enjoy this season as we watch the airheaded sociopathic princess strike terror into the hearts of her demon captors and yet strangely endear herself to them anyway.

Very recommended to have this show on weekly watch. Although it is cute, it employs the same story format for each sketch. Try to marathon this one and you'll have a bad time.

well based on this episode really don't looks like she really "want to scape", she seens to be really totaly fine with her current situation and just want to make sure to have a "good night of sleep"

man finally this is one of the most funny manga i was reading and waiting to get his own anime, this is really fun, see the "not so innocent" princess, going full brutall murderer towards the real "poor innocent demons" in a "moe and cute way" , demon king don't worry soon you will be obeying your new "demon queen" or maybe i can say "goddess".

it gonna really be a funny trip see her quest for the perfect "sleep",which even "death can't stop her".

He said escape from the princess, not for her. It's her victims that can't escape, even in death.

I still have to wait a week to be able to see this series, but I had to come to read the posts about episode 1 to get my fix. I read the scanlated manga episodes (and even watch the raws) and I do wonder with so much material, how far will they cover. IMO this series is the reverse Overlord (without the Iseaki angle) with cute pastel colors instead of the metal overtones.

I kind of feel bad for everyone that is legitimately worried about her . No way she's even going to want to go home by the time she is 'rescued.' Will be way too comfortable by that point. Going back and having to do work again as a Princess? Nope!

Regardless it will be fun watching her unleash havoc. Be it winning over some jailers and traumatizing others. Can't imagine the formula will change up too much. But it should be good and silly fun.

Princess's mother make brief cameo(As she appear in very far chapter). So the anime could be long series or that's the possibility for next season~

With all the content that the show has to offer (with a number of characters that we'll likely not reach in just 12 episodes) and all the positive feedback the first episode has received, a second season is most likely going to happen.
