I picked it up when I noticed the top tier seiyuu cast without really knowing what it was about.

In a show with a talking bird, magic, isekai, and psychic abilities; what I found the hardest to believe was that the cute neighbour JK is apparently madly in love with Sasaki, a poorly paid salaryman in his late 40s with average looks at best, and the reason probably being "he's nice". Honestly, he's not that nice, given that that girl is clearly being treated poorly by her mother and the best he could do was give her a chocolate bar.

Anyway, I guess it's fun if you turn your brain off. Definitely a power fantasy.

He may look 49 but he's 39 according to the data screen towards the end. But yeah the JK thing came out of left field, as did the whole secret agent thing. The cast is interesting but the series itself is all over the place... I feel like this show failed the 3 episode rule with the 60 minute premiere but I still might give it another episode or two depending.

Don't know. I find it being all over the place a plus. This mash up or genres and plots make it more I threshing.

But as I found out during the recent years, most of people have very short attention span and any show that requires them to either think to get all of the plot nuances or pay attention to details and track a bunch of plot lines is considered bad.

At some point he said he was staring at the bottom of his 40s or something along those lines, that's why I assumed that. And he does indeed look older than 39.

I uh... think you're overestimating the average LN/WN author here. Narou authors in general aren't exactly known for coherently weaving multiple plot threads, to say the least.

I actually do really like series like Iseleve that escalate into absurdity over time but this just threw everything at us at once. I'm still not even sure who's going to be an important character yet, though I'd assume the JK and Hoshizaki will be based on the strength of their seiyuu.

I am saying in general here. It is hard to judge this one yet, but I just found the whole deal with easper buro and yandere JK more interesting than isekai staff.

There were a few series in the past 7-8 years or so that I really liked but a lot of people did not with the arguments in vain "I did not understand anything so this is bad" while in fact all clues were there and they just had to pay attention and think a bit.

Can you give some examples? I'm kinda curious now.

That aside, I still think you're giving the author too much credit; for now it seems like he's throwing everything into the pot that he can. Whether we end up with a savory stew or some purple glowing toxic sludge remains to be seen. Like I said I'll probably give it another episode or two to hopefully settle into something.

It will take some time to remember as I have like 1500+ entries in my MAL (I watch way less nowerdays but I watched a lot when). It just reminded me that I got in such situation at least 4 times since 2016 or 2017.

Yeah, this was all over the place. And having the the teenage girl obviously being romantically interested in the guy double her age also didn't exactly endear me to it. Not my style, thanks.

I liked it more than I thought but while I was enjoying the slow life of sasaki, the bureau and psychics came out of nowhere and all that. I don't know about that.

I'll give it some more chapters but this goes full goverment and action instead of slow life I think I'll drop it. I hope for balance.

It's a normal ln, he being nice is all that's needed. What's unusual is for a girl to fall in love with the protagonist because he has money or a nice body, and this love only last for a while until she finds someone better.

There is one famous manga about a lonely middle aged salaryman enjoying eating alone. This story is like the isekai version.
