The LN, yeah, has Mari explicitly go something like 'Hey, she was waiting as if knowing something'd happen. I wonder if Tatsuya...'

The real issue in the anime is it doesn't have mental voice overs. Just a touch of a thematic voice over now and then would fix it. Without those, they have to tweak. They could have handled this better, but still. Someone had to point it out, as otherwise yeah, it'd look like Miyuki just blew out the magic, and that's not supposed to have been easily possible even for her. (Now if she used Gram Demolition, likely, sure, but not by just casting another spell.)

The shoddy craftsmanship is really beginning to show with this episode. You know what tripped the alarm most for me? It was when Miyuki denied even being aware of Masaki's existence. She did it too politely. In the novel, she completely put him down so much it was called overkill by the narration.

In this episode, Tatsuya was saying those who order suicide attack very seldom risks their own lives. I wonder what is his view on World War II Japan's leaders who ordered Kamikaze operations.

In the anime, he was talking more about terrorists and criminals. I think many of the Japanese military leaders did not receive conviction as war criminals, thus don't know if Tatsuya would consider them as terrorists or criminals just because they ordered Kamikaze attacks.

They did receive the conviction of war criminals. Only some cases like the biological warfare unit didn't receive the conviction in exchange for information from human experiments. Japan and the world recognizes that Yasukuni shrine encases war criminals. The controversy comes from shinzo Abe going there to pray to them and the revisionist agenda of the LDP.

Now whether Mahouka is a right wing or a left wing work is up for debate but I can't argue that here in the anime forum without spoilers.

I never did understand all the "it's cool to hate on Kira and Lacus" from a lot of western anime viewers. They still remain 2 of my all-time favorite characters. It might have to do with me just enjoying the show and never touching the forums on Gundam Seed. In a lot of ways, I feel like it's the same as people hating on Mahouka. It's like it's cool to hate on something popular that a lot of other people like, similar to a lot of recent popular novel to anime adaptations.

As for the episode, they call this arc the Nine Schools Competition, but so many of the characters are not directly participating. I'm beginning to wonder if the competition will actually be a major part of it, especially considering Tatsuya isn't a participant.

I don't really think it's cool to hate on lacus and kira but it seems that people who didn't like them feel that they are surrounded by people giving them too much praise so they need to shout their "different" opinion. Hence why it's called the vocal minority. A funny thing is they also try to make it seem like their opinion is more like a fact when it's only another opinion.

Though it seems like Mahouka is doing well in japan so that is what really matters tbh.

Think of Mahouka as another Index with many characters revolving the MC's (in this case Tatsuya and Miyuki) ,many that aren't important at first,but later on gets bigger roles,and those that got bigger roles at earlier arcs slowly gets in the background for a while.

I won't spoil what Tatsuya will be doing in the 9SC

I like Raku, I'm glad he is on the list.
To me, this character is rather underrated.

Nisekoi is currently popular in Japan (manga and anime) and Raku is likable comapred to other harem MC's,I also don't think he's that dense but in denial for why girls would fall for him, and some girls are also dense (Onodera and Chitoge primarily).
