Now here is some good news to be sure! I thought season one was amazing, even with an ending I felt was "just okay" for me.
Looking forward to this one as well.

IIRC S1's anime team said they felt the original story was necessary to provide an overarching continuity to S1's events for viewers to follow, considering the manga's plot structure is an anthology of loosely related adventures connected together by a common theme, similar to the Joker Game anime.

I thought Takayanagi did a great job on Dagashi Kashi, despite the bitching of some manga fans. I think we'll be fine here.
I want to know what Matsumoto is working on that's got her schedule booked up...

Basically, if they want to make original characters and original storyline to tie things together that's fine, but I'd much rather have something about a cast I find interesting and fun. (Huh, clearly I'm still not over this. Kekkai Sensen was a great show, really, but it ended up being something of a disappointment for me.) |

This I also kinda agree with - among other things there is included work on TWGOK s1 and s2, both of which were stellar adaptations in my opinion. Of course these are the more "recent" works of his ... Tokyo ESP ... well ... that's another story in my book. Perhaps that is what AntonKutovi is referring to?

Great news. Definitely looking forward to season 2. As for anime original stuff, I actually really liked the Black and White part of the story, they just could have connected it better to the rest of the cast.

I watched two of his works: Tokyo ESP, which was downright horrible. Can't even think of anything in it's defence. And the second is Dagashi Kashi, which, while mildly amusing, didn't exactly had a good directing, to be honest, and often felt all over the place - so here's my reasons for concern.
