The upgraded OP was a nice touch.
That VA was the guy who voiced the magnificient jerk Favaro
of course he would suit up for Ranta character and fun fact is both Favaro and Ranta are redheaded.

I find it stunning that the VA did the voice for one of the emo boys in gundam 00 and Doug in gangsta (he sounds pretty much like ranta, to be honest). I personally think that the guy has talent in adjusting his voice to character types.

Hmmm... just got caught up with this and liked what I see so far. Never thought it would be possible to create a bloody "dark fantasy" with this many MMORPG cliches, but somehow it worked.

On that note, I see we haven't decided whether or not this is an video game yet XD! If it is a game, that kind of throws the GATE: Thus the JSDF Fought There crossover I'll probably never finish anyway out the window (see Gate fanfic thread for details).

Still, got another crack idea I will probably never write, this time a pairing: Ranta x Mary!

Every time I hear Ranta, I keep seeing a younger version of Favaro. It's probably why his annoying mouthiness doesn't bother me as much.

Remember episode 1 (or 2): every party absolutely needs a warrior, and he promised to become one - but then went and got himself a Chuuni class instead, without saying a word to anyone. So he doesn't "do his bit".

Frankly, that should've been the moment they fire him - you just can't entrust your back to Ranta.

Actually this is one point I'll argue. He is not incapable in a fight, and as a dark knight he has provided diversity in their methods of attack, while still acting as a front-line attacker. Moreover, it was Manato who told everyone what classes they should choose, as I recall, based on what the party needed and what they seemed best suited for.

Ranta is a failure as a person and his personality is despicable, but he does his job pretty well.

Something similar to Eren from AoT, but with some acumen.
I always thought Eren was kinda alright. Angry, sure, but that's understandable.

Manato told Ranta to become the Warrior, but Ranta chose Dark Knight because it was cooler.

You are right that Ranta has been a useful frontline unit regardless though.

... That is weird, i honestly cannot remember that bit. Moguzo was already a warrior, so Ranta going for some other class seems fine to me. Obviously if they have to handle multiple strong enemies, in that case having two or three warriors might be better.

Oh, sorry. Mixed it with the novel, and that's one of the things they've changed.

Are there several kinds of warriors? One a bit less tanky than Moguzo, maybe? Because Ranta doesn't look built for that.

The part where Haruhiro was talking to Moguzo about buying a helmet... that was like... super lazy "animation" they were all just swaying left and right but Yume being farther in the back looked super lulzy

Whenever I watch this series I always feel that I need a dose of konosuba immediately afterwards.

As for Manato's ghost appearing beside Haru, I really thought for a moment that it was part of the world, that the dead can come back as ghosts and talk to the living.

That has not been stated in the anime.

The next episode is "Goblin Slayers" apparently. Could be that most parties don't stick around killing goblins for so long.
Eh, I though it was just the black tights they wore under their armour, it certainly seem to line up with what they've got on in the episodes themselves.

I would expect that most parties move forward leaps and bounds faster than the one we're following here. Goblin Slayers could be an apt title for parties that are taking an absurd amount of time to move onto the next area. Presumably at some point a party is supposed to gain the teamwork, skills and experience to get on to a more profitable and challenging region so that they can start earning money for real luxuries rather than essentials.

Pretty much this lol.

I do wonder though, if there's a job as a spearman. I mean, you would think that a spear of any kind of polearm would be quite useful to pick up.

Cue back story of "I was really close friends with some people but now they left me so I'm afraid of making friends again" man i saw that coming a mile away lololololololol. But Mary was really cute this episode. I'll root for her if she decides to take a liking to Haru. Yume can have ranta.

I guess they will go fight the kobold soon. after getting moguzo a helmet first of course. Next ep seems fun.

It's interesting that, at least so far, nobody has really been insulting them (in the anime) about how badly they are doing. That guy from Mary's former party said like "we were one of the parties that did well right from the start" or something. People being as bad as them might not be that rare.

In the light novel Moguzo joined another team first but they only got him to join so they could trick him out of his silver. They skipped a bunch of stuff at the start. Which is good because it was pretty boring.

Nice episode. I think it's time they start fighting "more" difficult battles Perhaps they will, at some point, end up fighting and defeating those Goblins that ambushed them. It would, in a way, help them really move on (well, they are already moving on, but this would seal the deal).

As for Mary, I think that she just needs more time. She's slowly realizing that this party of noobs is trying their best. I think that deep down, she wants to trust our MC. However, her past experience is preventing her from doing so. Perhaps she simply need to "gain" confidence --- our MC's party is in mortal danger and she "saves" the day. She will then realize that she can really can make a difference (kind of like her she "hit" that goblin to protect a member).

Looks like Haruhiro has unlocked Mary's dere mode soon... we'll see her smiling again
Her past is quite grim though... well, that is a very normal situation, like running out of your MP because of healing small wound from the start.. but if it's become a real world situation that it is pretty bad
I'm glad though that Mary's style actually similar to Manato so that means they might become a better party in the future
Happy to see Haruhiro as well.. He is truly a different leader than Manato, he is not looks reliable but he looks wise, mature, and strong

the opening scene already have Mary but the ending scene still the same
