Ooh, sabotage. Wasn't expecting that. Fortunately she stopped after just that once and the argument.

This should clear up any questions anyone still had about who Midori likes. Emphasis on "should."

Interesting note in the preview: we get a glimpse of someone with dark skin and golden anklets apparently walking through the neighborhood, or at least through a modern neighborhood. I'm thinking it's the girl who was in the background in that recording of Dera's. I wonder how she found him?

Tamako Market is not a "Shojo" I think ... is "slice of life"
this anime is a genre or have discovered a character (s) liked the heroine but in the end does not admit to heroin

Midori's reaction to this was kind of disappointing. She just said thanks... I expected her to at least blush, even if she knew Tamako doesn't love her that way.

She was blushing. Her blush is just those slight dark marks on her cheeks. She doesn't actually turn red or anything.

I think that a blush would require some kind of flattery or appreciation, and that she wasn't able to muster up any of said appreciation because she knew right away the kind of love Tamako meant. A platonic 'I love you' can be a cold thing when you're wanting it to be a romantic one. not that I speak from experience or anything, my track record for love being unrequited isn't 100% or anything, no siree

*hits preview* And what Wanderer said.

Wouldn't it make for an interesting twist if the love triangle is shaped differently from what we are led to believe. I need to go back and rewatch the earlier episodes to see if maybe Midori could be glancing at someone else.

Also, I keep getting vibes of another anime character while listening to Dera pontificate. A part of me is waiting for him to say which century his legend began.

Are you guys even sure that this is a love triangle?

The way I saw it, it was pretty much just a bout of adolescent jealousy. It's fairly typical for teenagers to be strongly attached to the friendships they form. Midori was no different. Tamako has been her best friend for a long time, and Midori was afraid of that relationship between them to change. She was insecure that things between the two of them would be ruined if Mochizou was to somehow interfere. But then, after confirming Tamako's feelings, it became clear to her that no matter how many things around them come to change, they will continue to be the best of friends. Even Mochizou can't change that. This episode to me felt like a finely-spun tale of trust and letting go.

Ah, this show hits just the right balance between flux and stability that makes the slice-of-life genre among my favorites. This is probably the best show in this season that isn't a sequel or carrying over from last season.

There are a lot of little things in this episode and in episode 2 that add up and heavily imply otherwise.

Quilin: You read Saki, and yet missed how Midori's attraction towards Tamako isn't platonic? Disappointed, I am.

Meh. It could be. I got that vibe from episode 2 as well, but I find that romantic attraction can often be mistaken the fierce possessiveness that comes with a deep friendship especially at that age where such feelings are often confused. Where exactly does the line between platonic love and romantic love lie? Is it simply a function of behavior? Or something deeper?

Well, I'll rewatch episode 2 to develop my position further.

I must be one of the select few who watch Saki for the mahjong then?

When it comes to subtlety of expression, Saki is a sledgehammer in comparison to this.

Dera antics? Check. Mochizou? Check. [Entire paragraph of squeeing over Mochizou omitted] Nice episode. Those two aside, Kanna's definitely cementing herself as the most amusing girl in the show, not that competition was fierce in the first place. Kanna episode when?

Mochizou needs to be more honest with his feelings, maybe then mochi-atamako will notice him a bit more. Green, go home you possessive cockblocker. Well it's not like I'm really into this shipping business anyway but unfortunately Mocchi likes that girl so I'll just pray for his happiness. ┐(‘~`;)┌ As long as the series doesn't set him up with Green I'm fine with it.

nice episode. i can understand Midori's feelings. she loves Tamako and they've always been together so it's understandable that she got all possessive over her. i think when she was saying those things to Mochizou in the woods (?), she was just so jealous and afraid that she might lose Tamako to him, thus she knows how dense the girl is about romantic business. they weren't nice things to say but i'm glad she apologized to him in the end. and i'm a little disappointed with Mochizou here. he's rather pathetic, you know, doesn't have the balls to confess to the girl he loves and keep staring her house, waiting for her to notice him and stuff. when i saw his reaction to Midori's words in the woods (?), i though he was gonna change, so the ending part kinda turned me off. well, it's still kinda nice to see them being cool with each other finally, but still.

anyways, i'm hoping they aren't gonna pull out a Midori and Mochizou falling for each other, or a Midori realizes her feelings for Tamako is just strong friendship because i'm shipping them a lot these days and i hope for at least a resolution to the Midori x Tamako subplot, though Tamako is still clueless as ever. though their pool scenes in this episode totally killed me ;A;

and i'm liking Dera more and more. tbh the only time i dislike him was in the first episode, when his drama made everyone forgot about Tamako's birthday. he was hilarious in this episode, always being chased after by other animals. and i like his speech to Mochizou. it's exactly how i feel about the guy tbh.

btw, Kanna is still the best thing ever and Shiori is adorable as always. and i kinda hope to see more of Anko and the Yuzuki boy in future episodes, even just a little because they are so freaking cute ;A;

and wow this is long

She didn't apologise or anything though. She only told him he could confess to her after she confirmed with Tamako that she didn't hold any special feelings for him, so there's no risk of her losing her precious Tamako. She has no more reason to be hostile towards him cause as far as she's concerned he's not a threat anymore.

if I understood when Midori realize it is not really love Tamako, she let Mochizo with Tamako?

That still kinda puts her in a possessive light.

i still think she sees him as a rival to her because, imo, she knows Tamako's 'i love you' to her is purely platonic. her face in that scene makes me think so. still, she encouraged him to confess to her, which is something no one would think of doing to their love rival.
