Hmm so the show is back to comedy and slice of life now after the battles from the previous episodes. The guys all got drunk and Kuon saw something naughty...

I face palmed hard this episode.

An episode I finally enjoyed. I dunno, I kinda got bored when it got to the serious battle stuff. It really felt too 'gamey', and at that point I'd rather just play an RPG or something.

Think I have to drop this and just marathon it all later.

Funny episode, and nice to see the girls try to treat Haku a bit. My favorite though was the girls' response to the naked dance. "So many dangly-dangly thingies! Kiuru's is the cutest one", "Filthy", "am I dreaming?". Hilarious, and topped off with further demonstration that Kuon's still very innocent and has mixed feelings about Haku and his... dangly. Also loved the response of all the guys in the room with him when that happened. Crotch shots are most entertaining when you get to see the reactions of other guys watching the situation.
Gotta pity Kiuru though, not only does he get deflowered by a huge pervert, and then wind up exposed in front of his love, but that one line from Shinonon I mentioned above... he's hurting more than Haku in a sense, I think. Stay strong, boy, stay strong.

Um, Dekopopnwhatever, why are you all cherry during the parade when you were the only one to actually lose battle?

Anything a rather typical downtime episode. Mainly needed to give some character growth to Haku, but it was fairly sold one. The "Guys Night Out" segment at the end was pretty funny too. Poor twins though, I'm sure they wanted comfort Haku too but given the way they might have done it... Kuon trying them up was probably for the best.

Oh boy I hope the preview wasn't implying they are gonna skip the lab and straight to Emperor's infodump.
Looks like they would use the magatama as original plot device to trigger his memories too, damn it all.

Just think of it not as adaption but a rewritten work then it would feel better.

This is a good breath from the slaughtering last week. Although it seems like they're going back to the normal peaceful life, the heavy air carried by Haku makes it different. Now there is a weight to this so called "slice of life" episode.

Haku preferred the peaceful life, but the first cour isn't effective enough to make it a strong point. Anyway it is very understandable, but as Ukon said then he'll have to hold on and protect this peaceful life. However, that doesn't justify their actions in war, and trying not to think about right or wrong of this is becoming the ugly adult.

Well, that's a good point, but I feel that it's somehow critizing the game plot. This is not the only time I feel it, it was there in the first cour and most apparent at ep11, saying "why make things ugly?". As a point for reference, Haku was much more of an "ugly adult" in the game, but have often chosen escapism in his thought process until later, and that generates some questionable actions. To me it seems like the anime is questioning this.

This reminds me of why did Negima anime failed: the anime staffs are at a stance opposing the original. I'm now suspecting the same for the anime director of Itsuwari no Kamen.

is Munechika going to be in the harem? the opening made it seem like she will be but she has had little to no interaction with haku.

Unfortunately I could only agree so much with Haku since honestly...the slice of life portion that made up the majority of the show to this point was kind of boring. Some episodes were better than others, but as a whole it has been pretty weak. Those moments were precious to him....not so much to me .

Does kind of feel like there is a war against the source material itself. There's no way that they had so little action in the game and Haku avoided so much conflict until this point.

Regardless I did think it was a good episode. It made sense after what Haku saw and went through to be like that. He just watched a major military figure of this country massacre his own people. Hard to feel good about the victory or want to be at a parade after all that.

It was nice seeing the various efforts to get Haku back on his feet. The efforts of Kuon and the others was nice. It didn't overly work, but it was a good effort. The gifts were a nice touch. Showing how they feel and how they don't want him to stay down forever.

Ukon's efforts worked, but it was questionable. Probably not a good thing to run away from reality and say "well just drink away your troubles." Ignoring tragedies like that isn't going to get you anywhere. And really how could someone like Ukon who talks about caring about the people just ignore the fact that they murdered their own people?

Anyways, I liked the tone. Haku should have been down after all that. And while he's still moving ahead, he's not able to just ignore or forget what happened.

The outrageous thing is imho that the swordsman didn't remind Haku that he did indeed save several lives. Namely those of some Hostages as well as the Yamato soldiers that were spared due to the swordsman's daugther having been released.

That was more Rurutie then him though. Yeah, he helped, but Rurutie was the one who insisted and he just gave in. Basically none of those actions were really from his own initiative. So, I doubt it would have made him feel much better.

The one who devised the plan and put himself into harms way was him though.

The most notable moment for me is realizing that Atui is the most mature out of Haku/Kuon's group, despite being positioned initially as the airhead from Osaka and a romantic dreamer.

The most telling moment was when Shinonon started to comment: Atui's reaction is to turn around and gently push her out of the corridor; Rurutie had fainted by the time; Nosuri and Nekone only minded their own business; and Kuon did not react at all. She also had the most understated reaction of the group. She distinguished herself by being the one who looked out for the well-being of a younger person.

In retrospect, it suddenly made more sense that Haku chose Atui rather than Kuon to go onto Dekoponpo's ship.

One thing I am enjoying about the series is the character interaction, I like the fact thier not forcing a romance plot into Haku's harem and at this point I would almost prefer they don't start one because it would ruin the group's dynamics for me.

This show is a major disappointment to me. I was hoping for somewhat of a sequel to the first show/game, but there's hardly any real central storyline. It's all stupid episodic slice-of-life crap that honestly is so full of cliche tropes that it's painful to watch. I'm going to finish it because I'm a completionist, but I have a feeling that I'm wasting my time.

That's a lot of manservice, enough to counteract an episode of Asterisk, Rakudai, Taimadou combined.
