Would that bring a new definition to "spider senses tingling"?

Now that is one way to create offspring for countries lacking in population numbers! As soon as the age is reached, breeding once every 2 years should allow - *gets doused with napalm and set alight*

AKB48 Pantsu Giveaway “Shaming Japan”

If this is their NATIONAL idol unit, I am at a loss for words.

Microsoft's team of researchers is looking to transform your living room into a futuristic Star Trek-style 'Holodeck'.
In these images, revealed by a patent application published last month, Microsoft unveiled its vision for its future game consoles - but instead of watching the action through a typical computer monitor or TV, your walls come alive with the action.
The technology will use Microsoft's Kinect sensor - which currently lets you control games by waving your hands at the television - to map out your room and your location within it, before a range of video projectors overlay a full and immersive 3D world over your surroundings.
So, instead of turning your TV on to play computer games, your whole living room - plant pots and all - could be transformed into a full 3D world from which you can hunt aliens on a distant planet or take part in epic Westerns.

countdown to the extinction of the human race begins.

More like the early versions. 3D projections. Not subtance. Though if they combine it with the sensor gloves that provide tactile feedback...well then you might get an interesting experiance. Assuming you won't die if you are killed.

First person shooters would get weird in that enviroment. If Internet provided multiplayer, you could go up to someone and slap them in the face for being an asshat camper or whatever.

That assumes gamers don't keep liquids around them to prevent having to leave the area for several hours at a time.

All the excessive movement should make them too tired to play. Leaving is an option, but if they can't keep up they'll need to stop as people will probably start "kicking" them towards the "door".

Assuming multiplayer experances where "you" are shown in some form in a 3D emviroment to other players, as oppose to just sitting in a room and playing "normally". The only difference being 720 vision and sound.

At which point they'll launch the single player porn, hastening their death by dehydration...

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

I've been expecting household holostages for decades now. Clarke wrote this novel in the mid-1950s. Along with his invention of the communications satellite, I've always thought this was his most insightful prediction.
