The redrawn sea king chapter is out, with the crowd reactions and stuff now in at the end. I have to say I definitely like the effect with the redrawn punch. Murata wanted it to be a lot more subtle.

The latest Murata-drawn chapter is out! Interestingly, he went back and redrew the scene where Saitama killed the Sea King. Also, the last page has the seer Shibabawa, so it looks like we'll be moving right on to the alien invasion arc next!

Edit: Whoops, didn't notice that someone posted just before I did, heh.

I am new to the series, I've just read all 27 punches and I'm confused with the chapters.

It seems to be that there is supposed to be 35 chapters released so far, does that mean scanlations are slow or is there some kind of numbering that I'm not aware of?

And I loved Eyeshield 21, One Punch Man is definitely going to be another masterpiece.

There's different numbering going on if you're going by Murata's numbering or the translator's numbering. We're fully caught up once Boon translates the new bits added at the end of the redrawn chapter.

Yeah, I know it can be a bit confusing, but basically it boils down to Murata releasing "incomplete" chapters now and then. Like sometimes he releases half of a chapter and when the next half comes out, it gets listed on the original Japanese webpage as a separate chapter instead. But you can tell what the "proper" number is by looking at said chapter's first page.

And in case you're interested, you can also check out the original version of the series, which is drawn by the original author, ONE (his art may look like chicken scratch next to Murata's, but I assure you he's a damn good writer).

Also at one point Saitama was promoted to S rank after shattering the meteor, but after the two C ranked heroes tried to turn the citizens on him, he seems to have dropped back to C rank with no one mentioning him or knowing that he was S rank at all.

Was it because of his anonymity that nobody knows he was ever S ranked at one point or was he demoted for attacking heroes?

Some "chapters" are just bits and pieces of a single chapter -- the one with the meteor in particular had .1, .2, etc. So while there are 35 readable chapters out, there's technically "only" 27 chapters.

Those people were indeed gullible. No matter how weak is someone, there is no way a weak person can punch through a monster's flesh and caused shockwave.

There was a lot of complaint in 2ch threads on it being too different from the original intention in ONE's version.
Doubt Murata actually saw those, but the change has been received very well.
Pretty much every point brought up as complaints (switching of hands, the massive effect clearly visible to the masses, etc) were addressed in the redraw.

Yeah, I have to say that I prefer the revision of the scene here, myself. Murata's previous version of the Sea King finisher made Saitama's strength WAY too obvious to the public with the huge shockwave and all. At least here it's much more subtle, as others pointed out (I really like how he still hinted at the shockwave with that ripple effect on the water, though). As I've been saying for some time now, I think it's fitting for Saitama to remain an underdog until at least around the end of the series.

I like that the shockwave actually damaged the buildings around them, yet it kept it's subtlety. I approve of this revision xD

The original had a clearly visible shockwave that was impossible to miss. It might as well have been a Kamehameha.

That contradicts the reactions of the citizens, who were initially wondering what the hell happened and later doubted that Saitama did anything at all.

Truth be told, I like both versions. Either way, Saitama does an ultra-fast punch that's too fast for the eye to see. But the civilians.....

I will reiterate something that has been discussed a while ago on this thread.

If Saitama becomes a villain, then nobody can stop him.
