I thought Misaki's depression was because Jin didn't express himself properly. But this episode proved that wrong. He spoke clearly to her and she just behaved like a spoiled child. True to Sakurasou's style, this week it was Misaki's turn to be the regressed character. This artificial drama was specially evident in this episode, as the entirety of her screentime was spent to remind us of how depressed she was.

Nothing much happened in the episode. But it was certainly impressive how Sorata, an aspiring game designer that's working very hard towards his dream, learned that game companies want to make money above all else. Sakurasou's MC proves again that he's the kind of guy that needs to breathe manually to not die.

EP15 Final Impressions: An uninteresting watch in all areas: Romance, Comedy, Drama. Anyone could skip this EP and miss nothing. Sakurasou keeps making one step back and two forwards to develop its characters.

No need for the attitude; sometimes people just get caught up with seeing things from their point of view that they tend to miss out the bigger picture.

Case in point.

I don't consider Sales being part of the bigger picture. It's something basic.

It doesn't help that I misread "Why will people play?" as "Why will people pay?" in the scene at the 10:00min mark.

He's writing a presentation and his focus has always been to present his game, the mechanics etc.

It's not unthinkable that other factors would have slipped his mind.

Sorata's exchange with his father in the bathroom is the funniest gag so far. Hearing Satomi Arai not using her Kuroko/granny voice for a change felt really refreshing. His parents really make up for the fact Yuuko has screentime. I seriously hope she fails the exam so there will be less of her around but eh, doubt that'll happen.

"I think i know how you were able to adjust to Sakurasou ...."
ahaha so true, guess it's almost destiny for sorata to be in Sakurasou
oh man Mashiro getting scary again the return of PLAN C!!! i'm almost sure she's trolling with that .....
ooh but imouto was so funny once she found out who mashiro is ^^ ahaha massive fan, hmmm talent breaks all sorts of boundaries....
yuuko on the other hand is way cooler this time around.
wow father was so trollish? tsundere?during the presentation, man don't know what to say ahaha but it's obvious Sorata wants his approval the most, ^^
and i guess he is also trying his best
all in all nice episode, pretty laid back for a New Year episode but I guess they're using this as a stepping block to the climax of the Audition & Presentation.

add: On further hearing I think the new ending song is also good, too bad they saved some budget so the accompanying animation is forgettable.

mashiro as cute as always and nanami well ideal but too bad we all know how it will end ...>.<
and polygamy is out the question ... for sorata's DAD.... oh wait he did say "it's your life to live...."!!!
harem possibilities?

ahaha me too! I got this dread feeling when I saw that after watching Sasami-san@Gambaranai good thing the pan was just for trolling
Also quite funny when I immediately thought KUROKO when she spoke ^^

well I took it like he does know except that he waas too preoccupied with the other aspects like "fun" etc. due to the events that happened. It was a big miss no doubt, but it happens even to the best of us. Not to mention he is just a teenager,High schooler even trying to get published for the first time with no experience whatsoever in the business side of games, or anything for that matter. I won't really bash him for it. No doubt why he thanked Nanami much, that's for reminding him.

I too thought it was dumb that Sorata never thought of the game from a selling/business standpoint. Look at Aoyama's response to his question as one who knows nothing about games, profit and sales is the first thing that came to her name. The basics of basics. Especially when the high school they go to seems to be a specialized pre-college curriculum.

Mashiro has tamed Yuuko with her manga...

and Sorata's family is funny as hell....

unfortunately, the main focus in this episode (Misaki's feeling) doesn't interest me at all

Hmmm... I actually enjoyed this episode much more than I initially thought I would Sorata's family is, well... interesting to say the least Yuuko-chan didn't annoy me as much and the parents were fun to watch, especially Sorata's dad. The bath scene. EPIC

I also loved the character interactions in this episode. Aoyama and Sorata's relationship here was nice. It showed us that, even if they are not in a romantic relationship, they are really, really good friends. The way they support each other and can talk about their work is nice, they're both down to earth kind of characters, so they understand each other well. Also liked the fact that Sorata didn't hide one of the main reasons for supporting her — he wants her to prove that hard work does pay off. I think all of us can relate to that. I'm always happy to see people who work hard succeed and I want my hard work to pay off too.

Sorata and Mashiro had some minor development as well. I liked the fact that he didn't try to laugh it off or ignore it or shout or sth when Mashiro asked him if this was the Mashiro he loved. And the face he showed after he answered "yes" and she said "thank God". I'm kind of glad that he looks guilty about the fact that she is trying to change once again for him, to try and be the "old Mashiro he loves" instead of the "new Mashiro that makes him feel uneasy". She's gonna keep changing and, well, he's going to have to accept it sooner or later.

Misaki and Jin. So that's what happened. I think Misaki was also at fault for not telling anything about the manuscript. Her face gave it all away. Seeing her sulk throughout the episode was sad, so I'm glad she got better in the end. Kind of surprised that it was Mashiro who helped her though, I would've thought it'd be someone else. Their situations were very different , but the questions Mashiro asked actually helped Misaki.

Anyway, looking forward to the next episodes And this post is longer than I expected

P.S. The new OP is growing on me. Didn't think much of it at first, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it.

Wow. Nanami is really an ideal wife. She can do everything like cleaning the house, cooking, giving moral support. What can you ask for? Too bad, she's unlikely to be the end girl.

The bath scene between the father and Sorata are too damn hilarious.

That was a good transitional episode.

We finally met the rest of Sorata's family, and unsurprisingly, they were about as eccentric as his sister. The dad was particularly awesome. I found it interesting Sorata's mother has a preference for Nanami -who is indeed a perfect housewife-, too bad her son does not share that preference. At this point, I think it's way too obvious that Mashiro will win. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I doubt that will happen.

I'm glad Misaki is already back in high spirits, in no small part thanks to Mashiro. Depressed Misaki was just painful to watch.

I was thinking the same for a sec too. Glad they didn't do it.

Have to agree that the father in the bathroom scene was utterly hilarious.

Really cute episode. Sorata's moment with his dad was way too funny. Yuuko and Nanami were both really cute and Mashiro was really sweet.

It is if it was his focus in presenting a game. Explaining why people would buy it is a big part of it. No wonder he kept getting rejected. Its like him presenting his game, and forgetting to think up of mechanics on how the game works.

Aoyama: "Sorry. You probably already thought of that."

Giving Sorata too much credit there. Hopefully they do end up together, so she can remind him to chew.

"I do not find polygamy acceptable!"

It is a perfectly functional solution in this situation! These people and their old fashioned morals just have no respect for the feelings of the poor girls trapped on the third leg of the love triangle.

In regards to all the Sorata/Nanami development, I cannot help but compare it to Sorata’s interactions with Mashiro in the previous episode, and it seems very clear to me that all Sorata sees Nanami as is a friend. A friend who is a girl, yes, he knows she is a girl, but she is still just a friend. She is in love with him, but his interactions with her have none of that depth, none of that power that the ones with Mashiro had.

Nanami has lost this. Sorata is delighted to have her as a good friend who he trusts, but that’s all he sees her as.

In other news, It’s great that the little life lesson Mashiro learned last time was just what Misaki needed to hear, and that Mashiro was able to relate it so perfectly. No “ordinary” person could have told Misaki what was wrong in so plain a manner: they’d all have gotten hung up on their own emotions and trying to rephrase things and stuff. But Mashiro’s autistic brilliance cut straight through all the nonesense to the core of the matter, and gave Misaki the answer she really needed. It was great to see Misaki finally regain her composure. Depressed Misaki is just… wrong. DO NOT WANT.

Well, there are some love polygons with viable polygamy solution ( a la To Love Ru, Kore Zombie, Campione, perhaps even Bakemonogatari ) , but I think Sakurasou isn't one of them. While Nanami would be somewhat open to the idea, Shiina Mashiro threatens with plan C too much.

See, I knew it. When you're in the soon-to-be-grandparents generation, securing a daughter-in-law like Aoyama is not just common sense; it is a biological imperative, an instinct. ^_^
But I fear Sorata would not meet the same enthusiasm if he were the one stepping into her parents' home. Just a hunch, but I don't think so right now. He needs to continue to work hard and become a reliable provider. Well, perhaps we get a chance to see, but probably not. The anime seems to be steering the Shiina ship fairly steadily.
