It's called Death Note リライト・幻視する神 which translates into Death Note Rewrite: The Visualizing God'
Also, the title is a bit of a pun. "Rewrite" is "riraito" in the Japanese title. And, as some of you most likely know, Light's name in Japanese is "Raito". Riraito. See?
It's supposed to be like from Ryuk's perspective, though it really isn't for most of it. It has scenes that for some reason or another didn't make it into the anime, or alternate scenes.
If anyone can read Japanese, I sugest reading about it on the Japanese Wikipedia. There isn't much info on the English one, but the Japanese lists some of the scenes that weren't in the anime and is over all more informative.

Well this is news to me. Can't wait I just hope they don't pull some bull move and bring Light back somehow. However with the way the manga and series was I doubt that will happen.

My biggest argument on the Light becoming a Shinigami is this: What if that world of "nought" that Ryuk was reffering to was the Shinigami world? Either way, I can't prove it. Just wanted to add the thought in though.

I'd like to see a new Death Note franchise though. It doesn't even have to be in the same universe. Just use some new characters. : P

Still, I think the series ended in a satisfying way, so I'll patiently await the release of the Special "Episode".

apparently it's going to cover the Near/Mello arc, that and the site says something about L and Watari summarizing the events in R1 in the beginning part, so I'm hoping for some funny conversation there
why... there might be an extenseion to the mello Gevanni shower scene

long as it isn't a random stream of scenes like R1

An arc revolving around Near and Mello doesn't sound like it'll interest me much, but for the sake of seeing more animated Death Note footage, I suppose beggars can't be choosers.

The world of Kira will never exist because the creators don't want it to. Accept it. Light will not have a happy ending. And really is ruling the world with an iron fist killing anyone who does anything you don't like a happy ending?
