Registered quite a while ago, have a hotel room set, and purchased plane tickets! Now I just need my workplace to approve the time off for that weekend (1st in line on waiting list :S)

So that was my first anime convention ever. Unfortunately I was only able to make it on the last day so I missed all the interesting talks and panels. Anyways, still grabbed a lot of loot though:
Some of the loot was free but it was still a very heavy toll on my wallet. Good thing I live really close so there wasn't any travel or lodging costs involved. While I was leaving there were some 'protesters' right outside: Some cosplayer highlights: |

Think I got enough coverage and merch this year. Here's a few photos, with a LOT more on this post.
Spoiler for Pics!:
Have some photos of myself with Noizi Ito-san, but they made us promise we wouldn't publish them, sorry!

I have attended Anime Expo in 2010, 2011 and 2013 and had such an awesome time meeting the different guests of honor. There are so many memorable things that happened during these times that it'll take a rather TL;DR post to put all of them.
The Meet the Guests reception has to be the most memorable; these were my experiences during the 3 Expos: 2010 - Asked Eri Kitamura who is the one character she voiced that best describes her, she said it was Ami Kawashima from Toradora - Was in the table where Yui Horie, Eri Kitamura, Yuu Asakawa and Masakazu Morita were seated. They did some sort of conversation where Asanee asked Hocchan how old she was. I did make a request to reprise their roles in Love Hina as Naru and Motoko as well as Ami and Minori in Toradora 2011 - Before the start of the reception, while waiting outside LA Live, Maon Kurosaki exited the arena after her concert. I said hi to her and she greeted me back. :3 - Asked Kalafina who their musical influences were and they mentioned Beyonce and Celine Dion along with other different Japanese musical artists (sorry, forgot who they were). I greeted Hikaru a happy birthday (this was held on July 3, a day after her birthday) and she was touched; after the reception, I said goodbye to them and shook their hands. The next day, during the autograph signing, Hikaru saw me and she told me that "You're the one from (the meet the guests reception) yesterday!" - Asked Sohei Niikawa (president of NIS) what inspired him to become a video game creator, he said that it was Final Fantasy V that started his passion to do so 2013 - Asked some questions to Noizi Ito: "Who inspired you to become an artist?" - she said she was inspired by the art of Mutsumi Inomata (the character designer of the Tales of Destiny game) "If you can describe yourself as an animal, what would it be and why?" - she said that she describes herself as a (cowardly) dog because while she may be shy, she wanted to do a lot of things that would make people happy (with her art) "If you become an all powerful wizard, how would you use your powers" - she said that she would create an animal sanctuary for animals that were neglected by their owners and that she would make them feel happy - I showed Mari Okada the Menma sketch Masayoshi Tanaka made back in AX 2011. I told her that I can best describe her as Menma (angelic and beautiful). She was so happy about it that she gave me a hug after the reception - Served Noizi-san a glass of orange juice and Mari-san a cup of tea I can't wait for the surprises AX 2014 has in store. I hope for many good guests for this year! |
