I didn't read MTBS for while, mostly because it felt like Kyousuke will never have any alternative then "choose" WQ. Am I right assume that didn't change?

I'm a volume behind (still midway through 8), but that situation really hasn't changed where I'm up to.
I'm kinda hoping that the two eventually learn to break the illusion of love (well, the WQ breaks it) between them and learn to live independently of each other or at most as friends (though I think that may be projecting my hopes for Touma and Mikoto from Index onto Kyousuke and WQ). Kamachi has shown he can do a heroine's heartbreak well enough.

Volume 9 has begun.

Unsurprisingly, after the events of last volume, Kyousuke has become a hikikomori. On the other hand, Aoi is back.

On the topic of love and heartbreak, I'm still unsure about is why the White Queen is in love with Kyousuke. The current explanation (repeated in Volume 9's prologue) is that he's the only one who didn't immediately fall for her, but that seems inadequate. Looking at the main heroines of Kamachi's other series, they all have actual reasons for their love, so the WQ falls short in comparison. There's also the question of how she came into existence, which is still unanswered. My personal theory is:

And she's scary in a very different sense than the White Queen, going for crazy overprotectiveness. We leave the submarine already? We aren't staying in one location for too long, though fighting in a space station could be fun. We also see how Aika unsuccessfully tries to contact her grandfather, reminding us of the consequences of going over 100 Awards.

Shame. If this was his final scene War Criminal really needed a better gimmick than "a willingness to hurt even his own allies" (which wasn't really a part of the novel) and doing a few dirty tricks. I do like the use of Rumpelstiltskin, it's the perfect way to illustrate the weight name lengths have in the Blood Sign ceremony. Poor Aika.

LazyHunter Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Spain	Spoiler for V8S4 + Ending: We get some cool scenes of Kyousuke and Olivia defeating the American army invading Kingdom F before the Colorless Little Girl arrives once again. Fortunately, this time Kyousuke has an idea to fight back, and we finally learn where Biondetta was all this time. It's nice to see Max and Ellie again, even if only for a single scene. The fight with the Colorless Little Girl was awesome, and the two little twists at the end were great. The afterword is pretty interesting, as Kamachi mentions how the volume was going to end in a completely different place, and how he might still use the original idea for Stage 4 in the future. I also want to see more of Azalea freed from the White Queen's obsession, so hopefully, she will make another appearance soon.

The latest update seems to confirm that: Spoiler: the White Queen isn't Kyousuke's sister, with the person in question saying that this isn't the case. Supposedly Kyousuke's mother and little sister were just assistants in Doctor S' training program. I'm still sticking to my theory, though. I suspect that the WQ is saying this because she wasn't able to help Kyousuke back then and considers herself to have failed as a sister. While the Facts section disagrees with this, I'm pretty sure that the Facts have been incorrect before.
